General Software Discussion / Re: web automation
« Last post by Contro on July 20, 2014, 09:26 AM »
I use a little with iMacros. But I consulted in the past and is not compilable.
Automation Anywhere is a expensive and professional solution. But is simple to learn and very assisted.
I think Automation Anywhere and Win Automation have simmilarities in the conceptual.
There are a lot of tools for the vast fields of SEO and managing the web.
I think the best way is an interactive tool able to recognize with OCR everything and a very visual environtment to develop.
The files like a txt with code is from The Stone Age.....

On several occasions I tried the portable version of Thunderbird, but it never would work like expected when compared with the installed e-mail client.

But that isn't your problem. MAPI is your your problem. All mail clients support this standard, it allows for a mail message being generated, with the receiver, subject, body text and optional attachment automatically filled in. That more or less leaves one job for you to do and that is pressing the 'Send' button.

It shouldn't matter which e-mail client you use as this standard is supported on all clients.

However, Microsoft, in all their wisdom, made an extended version of MAPI to make a differentiation between their idea of an professional environment (Outlook and Exchange) and well, whatever...(any mail server with any mail client).

Depending on the MAPI functionality that is called upon by the software that wants to report the error, this can become a messy story. For example: encryption on a message-by-message basis requires the extended version of MAPI. Extended MAPI is only supported in Outlook. There are a lot more mail clients nowadays being able to connect to an Exchange Server, but for crap like this you have no other option than to use Outlook. To my knowledge at least.

Also, depending on the requested MAPI functionality, only certain Outlook/Exchange combinations are allowed.

You say you have Outlook 2002 on your PC, a version that is also known as Outlook XP. This is a very old version. So old in fact that Microsoft has already dropped support for the successor of your Outlook client. With that I mean to say that even if you configure your Outlook 2002 correctly, it could still fail just because it is too old (in Microsoft's opinion, not mine).

My usual advice is to just install the Thunderbird mail client as a regular application and you will see this problem go away automatically. Personally, I'm a great fan of portable applications and happily use these on a daily basis. Portable Thunderbird? Don't bother, it's just not worth it to lose your time troubleshooting over. It is only usable when you have very basic mail needs.

I would like the programmer of iMetaSearch solves the problem of Microsoft.
But perhaps is not possible.....

Seems don't have advanced search option.

Do you know a link with detailed and full commands for advanced searching for dummies ?

I was on Thursday in the TLP 2014 here in Tenerife.
I assisted to several workshops for developers to ask them for a good application to document the web browsing history with artificial intelligency and obtain no answer from about 17 informatic engineers.....
 :(
One of them was a teacher and proposed a GymKhana.....

This is an aproximation, but I don't see a powerful advanced search options.

The appearance of the webs is not a luminous one in the last wave but if the program goes well.....
The program seems conserv a history of the sites visited.

Sure. I have done in my life about 254 projects. Less sure. But at the beginning i don't use a code. The last one is 254.14
A folder like 254.14 has some folders inside and files.
The .14 correspond to the year, and the resto to a sequencially number.
I begin years ago in the 125 number.
But before that number I usually uses a descriptive name in the folder like : Activ Properties
Some of the old projects are in the folder CUSTOMERS inside the PROJECTS Folder with the numbered works.
I usually do only one project by customer, but i have one i made many.
So this one have a special folder : JOVI and some projects inside this folder.

What I need is obtain a list of the folders by its creation data.

I have move along the years one folders to one pc to another so I observed the modification date is not the creation date and now don't remember how to see the creation date of the work.

Once I have the folders in order i can create shortcuts to renumbered the old ones from 125 to the first. Probable i will not reach the number 1.

So you want folders, but no files - in a 'flat' view where they can be sorted by created date?

How can i do that ?. The flat view is very useful for me nowdays for filtering files from several folders.
 :-*

Did you not get Directory Opus recently?
Or are you still on Windows Explorer (or whatever they call it these days)?

I dont know if you can filter for just folders in Dopus, I suspect you can - but first: do you have it?

I haven't. Dopus is the more powerful program indeed.
I stay in windows explorer with "addons".

Contro,

We are not even close to discussing the same subject!
You seem to have wandered off into the woods and got lost???
I think the only way back is for you to install "Read Now" from Readability.com.............
open a very busy and cluttered web page.............
Convert it by clicking on "Read Now" in your menu bar............
When the cleaned up page comes up you can compare it with the original page.
The converted page should have a link to the "Original".

 ;D

I have done. Works fine for me.

Even perhaps i can rename the main executable from Goldmine and run twice. I haven't try that in the same system.
Obviously must be from different databases or at least no concurrent use.

Hi Contro,

No DBU8 will not do what you are expecting, i.e. auto index all fields of all database.

It will,
1. Run in Win64 bit
2. Open DBF files
3. Allow index on one or combination of fields
4. Allow search on the indexed field values.
5. Allow locate value in any given field.

In short it will help you to get information from a DBF file in Win64 bit, but manually.

This I made to help for our in house staff working with our application Ace9 DBF and NTX files, in a Win64 bit environment. Since there is no such utility to handle DBF NTX files in Win64 bit.

To accomplish what you are looking for, one has to make an application for it accordingly.

Though it is a routine job for me, I am afraid, I can not do it as of now.

Regards,

Anand

I have yesterday this idea :

My Goldmine is portable. I have developed the possibility of running several times in the same PC. This is allowed by my license.

Only one pc installed.

So I can index on one of my many security copies. I usually backup with syncback free or with cobian backup to a folder.

So I take one of the last copies. I have to modify the ini files to launch from the main executable in the security copies. Like is not possible to have two executables running in the same system i think i can run from a virtual machine  in the same pc.

I usually have the pc ON.

I need a script easy to do for me in AHK or in Autoit.
- Copy one of my security copies to al folder or modify in the security copy folder.
- Modify the ini files replacing some lines to launch the appropiated databases.
- launch the main executable from inside a virtual machine.

Usually Goldmine run slow in the first searching, but after is more quick. In this way i will have a database reindexed with the more ancient registers. I will do this automatically once a week. will be enough

Other solution may be.
Use my Visual dBASE 7 from Borland from inside a virtual machine and make modifications to reindex the database from a security copy. Once i know what i need automate the process with AHK.

No. It's not so simple when you filter also.
And not a folder. A selective tree of folders and a depth level.
