First a disclaimer: I run malwarebytes.  I don't really think that given my habits its a necessity, but I do it anyway.  Mostly for ransomware as my server got hit with it a while ago, though it wasn't user error, rather an exploit of RDP.  That was a real nightmare, so I continue to run it.

I was installing some things in msys2 and hadn't thought to exclude my dev tools directory.  MB incorrectly identified Pacman.exe as ransomware, and removed all rights from the file, and changed the owner to noone.  I have now added an exclusion, but is there a way to reverse the actions of MB, i.e. make pacman accessible?  Deleting it wouldnt' have been worse than this.

I really don't want to start from scratch with a new installation of msys2.  Does anyone know of a way to regain access to a file that's been locked down like this?

Have you tried to contact the maintainers?

They might be able to correct the issue rather than creating a new package, especially if you're not as familiar with the platform.

Are you sure it's not your connection or something transient?  I tried it for Star Wars Rebels and received the correct results.

Update: I get it.  You don't mean for the series information or anything within the application- you mean the uri when you go to https://www.thetvdb.com/.  The whole site appears to be down, so I don't think he's going to be able to do anything about it.  Perhaps it will come back up, or he might change providers possibly.

Update 2: It seems to be a problem with the site.  There's a thread about it on their forums: https://forums.thetv...t=39984&start=20

Just wanted to make sure from the poster, as it could refer to other blogs in this reviews index.  That seemed pretty non-specific, so wanted clarification of their meaning.

Whatever the merits of the foregoing, it's crystallised something about this blog for me.  Whoever writes it is very prolific, and tends to offer uncritical announcements.  Getting a heads-up on something I didn't know about has value, but I'd rather have deeper analysis, and especially discussion of the relative merits of different programs that do more or less the same thing.

What blog?

Please Stand By (58% on Rotten Tomatoes as of posting.)

Saw it on Vudu when we were looking for a movie to rent.  It said "In Theatres" and it appears to be, though in very small distribution as an indie film.

It was a great movie, and had a lot to which I could relate.  Recommended.

 Hi guys . I liked the program and it works on windows 10. I really want the author to improve the program.
1) I often help people, neighbors, relatives. I install and set up a computer for them. Operating system, settings, installation of programs. This program is useful, you can write down on a flash drive and work as a check checklist reminder.
2) Also sometimes I help people on the .Team viewer and there too, I have to conduct many similar actions. On computer diagnostics. It is important not to forget what you did and what did not.
3) I also have to do SEO sites.

So, the conclusion. It's ideal to make folders. Under checklists. Windows, SEO and so on.
Also it would be possible to make checklists with 1 hierarchy tree down. And the possibility of linking the attachment of a text document. Thank you .

I think sChecklist means Simple Checklist.  I'm sure he'll answer, but I will quote the guiding principles from the front page:

Like most of my apps, I wrote this because I couldn't find a simple checklist app that suited my needs.  What I'm talking about is off-the-cuff, ad hoc types of lists.  The ones that, in the course of your (work) day, you find yourself wanting a quick way to set up a checklist, especially one that can be easily used over and over.  Just rows of text entries and a checkbox for each.  No B.S., no time tracking, and no crazy wizzbang features.  In other words, this app is not a time tracker nor is it meant as a full-blown project tracker.  There are plenty of extremely well done apps that already do this.  Task Coach, MyLifeOrganized, & ToDoList are but three that I'd recommend.

I don't see any reason to be so harsh on them -- it's a short little review with one confusing sentence.

I call a spade a spade.  You should know this of me ;)
hmmm,
a simple bald statement of the problems with the text would have been more in that line.
You got emotionally involved -- and harsh, as mouser says -- that's different from simply telling things how they are.

Agreed.  And it has other unintended consequences.  It's obvious you are a supporter... what impression does this leave on people about those who support SC and DC?  And does it make them less likely to even try in the future.  Education and understanding are the approach that I would think does the most good.

Interesting article on bitcoin and the resistance/obstacles it now faces.

Bitcoin’s Final Boss

“Bitcoin ought to be outlawed.”

Those were the ominous words of economist Joseph Stiglitz in an interview with Bloomberg last week.

He’s not the first to say it and he certainly won’t be the last.

@Shades : "BLAT cli" can be a little bit confusing at first, some switches uses are "cryptic" and building a valid command line can be tedious. So, i went through the whole process step by step and had success in the end. I suspect this might have been done on purpose by the developers to avoid "Blat" beeing used by lame spammers. But i can't be sure of that.
I took a look at "CMail" : seems robust and has a lot of options too. I'm going to use "BLAT" and may add an option to use "CMail" later on...

We used to use it at work, and had similar issues with BLAT, and someone at the company even made an option to use a BLAT DLL.  It seems that was adopted by the community, and they offer a way to directly use BLAT that I think was his code- not sure if it's really there as I was going by his word.  I do have a link to the latest version of his DLL if interested that he sent me when I was trying to track it down.  The reason that we moved away from it is .NET has a direct option to mail.  If the archive doesn't have it, let me know if you're interested.

BlackPanther_.jpg

It was as good as the hype.  It is my top MCEU movie, tied with Winter Soldier.  What both of those have in common is that they are not Superhero movies, they're just good movies.  I'd say that WS is a movie that heralds back to the Espionage/Cold War type movies.  Black Panther is more of an intrigue type movie.

Definitely recommended.

I don't see anywhere that it uses Chromium, so I'm curious.

https://github.com/minbrowser/min

Note: Min uses an older version of Chromium, which may be missing security fixes from later versions. More Information

Ah, I didn't notice that there.  It's sort of misleading however.

https://github.com/m...suecomment-338080554

Min doesn't directly use Chromium.  It uses Electron, which uses Chromium.  So everything using Electron has that problem.  Slack, Atom, and anything on this page: https://electronjs.org/apps

I don't personally think that Electron is made to create a web browser on top of it.  But, as they are using a webview to render pages, I don't think it's as much of a security concern as it may seem.

I did continue research and find this: https://github.com/m...suecomment-340968572

And uses an outdated (missing security fixes) version of Chromium... Why on earth should somebody use such stuff?

How did you find out it was using an outdated version of Chromium?  Did you download it and try it?  I don't see anywhere that it uses Chromium, so I'm curious.

« Last post by wraith808 on February 18, 2018, 01:53 PM »
Great application... a few suggestions for improvements.

1. The ability to change the hotkey for activation/deactivation
2. The ability add drift or some other way to randomize where you click within an area. I'd imagine this feature gives a text box in which you specify a number of pixels (perhaps two text boxes - one for X and one for Y).  The application then takes the X,Y position to click, and adds/subtracts a random number of pixels within the parameters specified, and adds that to the two to get the actual point to click.  This would allow it to simulate a person clicking, as over time, a person isn't going to click the same pixel.
3. If you could spy the object on screen, you could also add the ability to click a specified object, and click within the confines of that object randomly.  But I think that 2 would actually cover it- that would just be a nice to have.

Thanks again!

When I worked at BellSouth and they had glass pillars all over the place, we had the same problem.  It was a result of the "Blackberry Prayer" (head down looking at the Blackberry while walking) more than anything.

It was amusing, I must say...

You folks may be genius programmers, but apparently no sense of literary style. What would Shakespeare have said? "Best-known," you may be sure. Ask your local English teacher.

I'm going to assume that was tongue-in-cheek rather than an ad-hominem statement.  Do you have any references to back up your position?  Because all of the grammar tools that I use in writing don't flag either of them as incorrect.

From https://fileinfo.com/extension/gadget

A GADGET file is a small program that runs within the Windows Vista or Windows 7 sidebar. It stores several web-based files in a Zip archive format and may include .HTML, .CSS, .JS files, as well as other web files. GADGET files are used for small programs such as news feeds, search tools, system utilities, and small games.

So it appears that the supported OSes above is indeed correct, and it doesn't work on anything past that.
