i love when dogs do that thing when they want to be chased where they lower down on their front legs and stare at you intently and happily and do that little bouncy thing where they are daring you to chase them.

Hi mmelvis,
I'm currently exploring the possibility of selling the exclusive commercial rights to the program, so it's a little bit up in the air right now.
You can email me at [email protected] to discuss further.

I started out this thread over a year ago asking if anyone had any recommendations for software that would help in planning woodworking projects, etc.

More than a year later I actually went looking for home design software -- not quite the same but close enough.

After testing quite a few (TurboFloor, Punch, SweetHome 3d) I settled on one that I liked best, called Home Designer.  There are actually a series of different editions, and a guide for picking which edition you need here.  I would recommend the "Suite" version which is $99.

Based on the capabilities of the program I'd say $99 was a bargain -- it's a *VERY* impressive tool.

My original aim was just to model my kitchen so I could experiment with tearing down a wall, but I eneded up creating a complete model of my condo apartment which is startling accurate.  Note this is a serious tool and it will take you a while to get the hang of it, but it's really cool and fun stuff.

that is truly bizzarre..
what operating system?

the main important thing is the "story" which you can see at the very very bottom of the page in a tiny box.
in my opinion that story might be better off having the main full height right hand side of page, with the controls mostly moved into a sidebar or menu or even moved off the main screen; the current lefthand sidebar can be removed and put on a separate page.

note:
i think i said this clearly but in case i didn't -- agentsteal doesnt need someone with super technical abilities to make the page look some exact predefined way.  what we need here is someone who can work with agentsteal to understand the concepts and then come up with and make a good web layout page for it, of their own design.

let me ask a silly question -- are you sure that you dont have 2 copied of FARR, and you are putting plugins in one and launching the other?

or go to the options, configure plugins, make sure you dont have fsubscript disabled.

the thing is -- from what you are pasting it's not even trying to load the plugin, which suggests to me either its disabled or its not finding the plugins.

you might try this, restart farr -- see if farrSubScript is in list when you type: aplugins

if not, go to options and the new troubleshooting log tab, and scroll to bottom and look for the list of plugins it has loaded -- see if you see it in there.

Is there a script I need to run to register the DLL or something?

no -- there is nothing you have to do.

it sounds like you installed it in the right place, in Plugins\FSubScript\

if installed it should show up in the plugin list as "FARRSubScript"

ok sounds like you havent installed fsubscript, which is a separate download:
http://czb.dcmembers...cript/FSubScript.zip

Even if it does work, I'd be a little disappointed. It used to be that Timer was a first-class pluging: typing "tm" would bring it up. It sounds like (once this is working) I'd need to type "fssc tm", right?

incorrect -- tm will work exactly as it did before.

one note: i think the last time i tested, the czb pack may have an outdated fscript.dll which conflicts with other plugins.. i know this is a bit confusing and ill try to figure out a solution to this.

thats normal that they dont show up there because they are fsubscript plugins.
type: fssc

Nice roundup at ghacks discussing various ways to download Youtube videos:

There are basically three ways of downloading Youtube videos: Using a web service, a web browser add-on or a standalone software program. All methods have their distinct advantages and disadvantages...

Developer's Corner / Web Page Designer needed for small DC related game project
« Last post by mouser on August 09, 2009, 11:15 AM »
DC member agentsteal embarked on a very fun proof of concept "game" / storytelling script thing, which I have helped a bit with.

It's a really cool idea for a minimalistic storytelling website, and I think it could be great fun.

Here's the problem:

Agentsteal and I both are very bad at web design.  Even though it's only really 2 pages (one really), this site is god awful from a user interface standpoint, just a confusing mess.

What I think is needed is someone who is comfortable with html and css (and maybe some jquery) to design the web page.  It really needs someone to put some style into it and just take control over the look and feel, and try to bring some order to the chaos.

In other words, technical skill is not the most important thing -- more important is someone willing to jump in and wrangle this page of buttons and input forms and make it look nice and simple and clean.  And maybe help with the wording and instructions to make it understandable.

This is not a paid job, looking for a volunteer who can spend a day or two on this for the fun of it, to have your name on the project, and for a wonderful rare DC mug or tshirt of your choice.

Here's a screenshot of the current page to give you an idea of what you are up against.  It's just much too chaotic.
dm.png

I should note that agentsteal is ready and willing to edit the php and page generation to work with any design changes.  But he needs the help of a designer to set up the css and layout and also just help with organizing and wording stuff to make it clearer.  In other words he needs someone to work with back and forth to tweak this.

General Software Discussion / Re: Software for use with scanner?
« Last post by mouser on August 09, 2009, 09:22 AM »
I'd like to scan several pages of a document into a single PDF.
I will be adding the ability to combine several images into one pdf in the next week or so, but there may be more flexible free tools to do this already.
If someone finds one that supports drag and drop, it would be VERY easy to configure it to work with Screenshot Captor and let you just drag files into it.

Here's one that looks like it might do it:

Choose the about item from menu and see what it says in the about box -- does it list your name/email?  if so then the license has been accepted.
The menu item will still always say "About (Enter new License Code)".

FARR Plugins and Aliases / FARR Plugin Screencasts
« Last post by mouser on August 08, 2009, 01:17 AM »
As part of my series of screencast video demos of FARR, I will be making screencasts of some farr plugins.

I am willing to make a screencast of any plugin whose author wants me to.

The target length for the screencasts I make is about 2 minutes long.

All you have to do is send me a personal message or post a reply on this thread saying you would like me to make a screencast demo of your plugin, and highlighting any features you would like me to mention.  Remember that I won't know how to use it as well as you do, so give me as many suggestions as you can, but remember that I am aiming for a video length of about 2 minutes.
