Thank you, 4wd!

or on a per site basis:
UAControl
Note that these methods won't interfere with reporting the correct userAgent if it's via JavaScript but it might allow you to install later versions from Mozilla' addon site.
eg. To emulate Firefox 18 try a userAgent string of: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:18.0) Gecko/20130108 Firefox/18.0.1

-unfortunately this short way didn't change anything on addons.mozilla.org
So later on I will try going the longer way...

Edit:
The longer way now being http://support.mozil...ated-or-incompatible

The Nightly Tester Tool is fine    and has been enabled for maybe a year (and Compatibility Check disabled).

But you're right, I should both have spoken more clearly and told some more, before posting. Also, I should point out that when Firefox is in "safe mode", all addons are disabled - meaning that I #imagine# that the addons not are responsible for the problem. But of course I don't know.

the problem is still there when I surf in safe mode!

former titel: Mozilla Add-ons: "Not available for Firefox 11". But it's Waterfox 18!
Re-edited for clearer meaning:

Why does Mozilla claim that my version 18 is a version 11?

------------------------------------------------------------
For several months the Mozilla Add-ons site has been telling me that "this addon is not available for Firefox 11", and I have no clue of what is causing it - except that I am running Waterfox version 18, instead of the standard Firefox. I also had the same problem when it was Waterfox 16, (I didn't try version 17).

2013-01-29_083034.gif

One might think it could have to do with some add-on/extension, but the problem is still there when I surf in safe mode!

Does any of you Waterfox users have the same problem?

Any idea on how to set this right (except from installing the normal Firefox)?

One of the situations where I really wanted to use BBCeditor is, when I wanted to do a public test, a "Mini-Reviews by Members", but didn't began because I knew I couldn't finish it in just one browser session. Will you think about making it support minireview template, etcetera, or is that really too much to ask? My point of view is, that we probably never will use BBCeditor for writing up a small post in a hurry, but we (I and people like me) actually need BBCeditor if we want to write up a thorough review or similar.

embarrassing; I never really saw that DC icon! Once I had navigated to the picture file, I would click OK and not think about more. I feel the order is twisted, would it be okay to make them swift position, so "Path" comes last?

I recommend not updating Greasemonkey at the moment. Version 1.6 has given my Waterfox annoying delays and "does not answer". When I disabled Greasemoneky, the problem disappeared.

-version 1.7 has already been uploaded, and the problem has gone.

sorry for the sloppy date mistake, and for the sour tone added because I was frustrated with not having been able to fall asleep.  :-[

My suggestion would be for you to keep what is already there, and maybe add yet another "img" button, which would insert one of [ attach=# ] [ attachimg=# ] [ attachthumb=# ] [ attachurl=# ] [ attachmini=# ] - the way we have it here at DC. My reason of course being that DonationCoder is where I am using BBCeditor the most.

I really like BBCeditor, but it has been two years without updates, even though in my little square world, an update is needed. How does anyone use (insert) Image? I cannot see where it should be relevant to the post I am typing, that the photo I want to upload along with the post, now is located in [ img ]C:\FotoTemp\12big copy.jpg[ /img ]. Or maybe you all only use BBCeditor anywhere else than here at DC? Or is it a trick to help me remembering which photo goes where, and then I "merely" must remember to clean and re-write the image tags before posting?

Interesting -- reminds me a bit of mouser's The Form Letter Machine.

^yes, you're right. I should of course from the beginning have quoted the following:

1. Document Templates
During work with a text editor an inexperienced user may have difficulties with things such as page layout, text and paragraph formatting etc...

Edi uses an innovative template system with text variables. A power user defines document layout and places variables in it. Then the document is stored. When the end user opens the document an input dialog is shown asking only for variable values. As a result a new document is created containing the new values and maintaining layout of the original document - template.

You could ask - what is the deal? Other programs like Microsoft Word or OpenOffice TextEditor also support templates.
The answer is yes, but not as easy as Edi does.

Are you going to wait for Windows 9?

Listening to music from Windows Media Player, I am remembering why it no longer can minimize to its own toolbar: Microsoft said that too few people were using this feature. The company did not think it was of any importance that the feature both was hard to find and to understand how to start using.

And then it struck me: They will do the same with Windows 9 !:
"How many Win 8 users have been using the advanced features we also knew from Win 7 ?".

Well, we already know the answer to such question; most people does not look for features, because they don't know what to look for - many don't know there is something to look for at all - and they might even be scared to mess things up.

The call-home-"take part in improving Windows"-feature is the worst invention ever.

Thanks for telling about QuoteURLtext, https://addons.mozil.../addon/quoteurltext/ ,  - I need such feature. I use the excellent Auto Context, https://addons.mozil.../addon/auto-context/ , for saving text snippets, but it is lacking the "get URL"-feature. By the way, Auto Context works flawlessly on all Firefox versions, even though Mozilla keeps saying it is too old. But of course, one will need an application like Nightly Tester Tools, https://addons.mozil...ightly-tester-tools/ , merely to install Auto Context.

Another dictionary compatible with their free .bgl glossaries is GoldenDict http://goldendict.org/
-thanks for telling, kilele!
you can set different path directories at edit->dictionaries->sources->files

I really need this program to have a user's manual for total beginners!
(edit: they have screenshot manuals, if you know what I mean, but only for the more advanced stuff, not the basic "to translate, use Ctrl+mouseClick", which a program like Babylon has)

I have so far only tested the "scan popup" feature, because I don't want the big 'normal' window (will not close on Exit).

GoldenDict is working really well inside Explorer (where I don't want it to work), but not yet so well in Firefox (where 99% of my needs are). So far (I cannot find any useful manual) I have only been able to first mark a word, and then click a hotkey (Ctrl+C or Ctrl+X (!!!)). The "scan popup" will be visible instantly (this is really fast), but then I have to activate the popup before it will obey the Exit . If I open my (third-party) clipboard and press Enter on a clip (to make it the first and active clip), GoldenDict will pop up (unwanted), because a clip was added to the clipboard. What is even worse is that this clipboard controlled activation is preventing me from using GoldenDict's "scan popup" window if I want to copy its translation / explanation!

All this could be a little too much for my nerves, but GoldenDict deserves more chances. It really is excellent in many ways. Just the pleasure of seeing all my expensive dictionaries and thesauri again is wonderful. Can't this program use the "normal" procedure: Ctrl+mouseClick ?

the practice of bait-and-switch comes to mind for me.

-I agree with you, just as I agree with mwb1100, in the sense that this practice is very undesirable. We don't want it, but we've got it and will continue to get it even more anyway. Greed, poor morale, and lack of laws & law-enforcement for the Internet. I actually think this is why Google sometimes is trying to act like a policeman. The problem being of course that Google itself is driven by the greed for money. The Ten Commandments have poor conditions on the Internet...

I also agree that Sysinternals Suite is very fine, but also a little difficult to set and to use.

But it's completely unacceptable behavior for software that I'm paying for

-I think you're exaggerating. Without knowing, of course, my guess is that you have at least one program installed that did exactly this during installation. But I will of course agree that it's completely undesirable behavior.
