hmmm....thanks app,
I'm in the US, and it's been more then 24 hours so far.
A bigger problem then they are saying I think, or they just don't know yet.
Switching to Google Talk for now. But still letting Skype try to log in.

Also I found this-

http://www.sightspeed.com/

Installed it but haven't used it yet.
Any internet link goes directly to ie7 and my default browser is Firefox.
Interesting, don't know why it does that, perhaps it's built on msm messenger, don't know.

It just came back on now.
But still in and out a bit.
It's version 3.5.0.202

Won't hold the connection.
May have to revert to an older version if needed.
Thanks tonsofpcs.

Anyone having problems signing into Skype recently?
I know it's not my computers, none of them will sign in and stay signed in.
Unplugged and replugged the modem and router.
Ran various fix programs.
Still the prob remains.
Can't even get Skype's help webpage.
I suppose it's on their end but not sure.

Anyone having the same probs?

Or are there other programs as good as Skype?

These are some tweaks in Fasterfox-for the history deal I believe.

1857
I've been using firefox for a while, about a month now and found that the 'minimize to tray' addon and the 'minimize to tray enhancer' addon are speeding up my browsing a lot. In the options of these addons are tweaks that can help. And it doesn't use a lot of resources either. Take it from me who is still on a pentium 3 machine. :) These addons keeps firefox loaded but idle.

The main one was that I was hitting X instead of the minimize arrow, until I found the tweak to have the X (close) button minimize firefox to the tray.

No problems with the back button here. Quicker then ie7.

I also have fasterfox too. Helped tremendously.

But I haven't used Opera so I don't know a difference, but thought I'd add a thought or two.

General Software Discussion / Re: What's your music player of choice?
« Last post by cmpm on August 05, 2007, 08:42 AM »
yeah, i like vlc, it seems to handle it all very well
music with video or just music or whatever

i have the kmplayer too and play with it some
wmp is slow to load imo, and on my machine
and wmp doesn't play some video/music files in my experience
on one computer it works for both but on another it doesn't
so I switched to vlc as default player

Play with foobar too when i'm bored...lol...:)

This may be close to what you are looking for.
Haven't tried it but it seems to say you can build your own feed from many feeds and websites.

A friend turned me on to this link....

I really am lost on it's implementation.
But I didn't investigate it further yet.
And I thought you folks would enjoy this.

Curt,

No it never installed AIM. And I went into msconfig to kill all aol stuff till I want it running. Maybe you got a mirror link that did the aim install. I don't know.

I think I'll use the web more then the desktop because logging in is faster for one.

You are welcome,

The KMPlayer supports webcams also, but I couldn't figure out how to get the right look you are looking for. And it seems to 'stay on top' of other windows.

You can uninstall AIM and still have the XDrive.
Either use the XDrive Desktop or the website.
I like the website. Though the Desktop thingy is fun to play with.

And I agree Skype is the best, wish they would have integrated it with GMail.

vlc can do it with skin 2 but still a bar at the top
no file edit and the rest

might be a setting in an appearance program to kill the bar

The admin alerts will go to the aol email account unless you change it in the profile. So I changed mine to my gmail but still found the aol email page to log into and saved it as a bookmark.

Ok, just thought I'd suggest it.
One can choose multiple sources and it's configurable interface is not too shabby.
Sometimes we overlook the obvious, at least I do.

Wordzilla, hmmm...yeah got the same feedback about the firefox extension also. It's called G-Space.
I think if you limit your use of it, that may be ok, I don't know.

app103, I'll check those things out, having 5 gigs of web space is just enough for a song, well some songs are a bit bigger, but I have been known to post songs in a conversation on a few forums.

Thanks for the input, both of ya.

Or one could call it 'trialware' or 'freeware'.
Which ever applies to the program or service.
Though all trialware has limitations, some freeware has some also.
As we know, but for the beginners shareware seems misleading to me.
Not trying to change the world, just the right to know these things.

They seem to be like 'doh'...Open Office-sheesh
should win or place second every year

Or is it throwing some freeware in there that finally everyone knows about, and other programs at their site that are overpriced and shareware.

I suppose I just don't like the word shareware, so kind of annoying to me.
It doesn't really communicate the intent, call it 'try before you buy'.

Google, filehippo and this site are the best I've seen.
With a few referrals from posters here to some sites.

I think you can do it with WMP in the playlist settings. Though the hibernation thing would probably not work. Don't know, I haven't tryed it. But I did look under File auto playlists-settings and there is a time thing to enter.
