An article evaluating PureView is below.
Innovation or hype? Ars examines Nokia’s 41 megapixel smartphone camera - Ars Technica

I was impressed & pleased, how thorough the article's two pages are. Really interesting stuff.

Thank you for pointing!

I was also pleased that Readability (for Firefox) automatically merged the two pages into a single:

Giveaway of the Day - ArcSoft Perfect365
... it seems to be essentially a tool for prettifying/beautifying (i.e., falsifying) images of women's faces,
-IainB on Perfect365

-you were so right in not just saying faces, but women's faces! I have just tested it on a man's face, but Perfect365 rejected the photo, saying no face was recognized! I have used the program several times, so I know from experience, face recognition is quite good. But maybe this man's look is too different from most faces? Hmm...

Of course there is also this woman standing in front of him, but she shouldn't confuse the software, could she? I mean, her face is pointing away from the camera...
8) Did you see her?

pdfscissors.com
looks excellent! but there is no desktop app?

offline.jpg
Adds shortcut on desktop

How does it work?

To run the app, just click those buttons on the left

Those will launch the app directly... no hassle

It will use 'Java webstart' technology. You need to have latest Java in your computer.

The app does not modify the original pdf, it creates a new pdf with the new crop areas that you will draw.

If you run the offline version, it will create a shortcut on desktop (and also to programs menu on windows). You can use that to run the app without internet connection.

If you have internet connection, app will keep itself automatically updated, no need to worry about getting the latest version.

NOTE: The app does NOT upload any file / any data from user's computer, the pdfs are cropped on user's machine.

Edited: It sounds as if you are forgetting that Pdf is for printing on actual paper. Even the most expensive book in the world will not have the last page been cut off just because THE END wasn't at the bottom.
-------------------------------------------------
Each page always has the exact same length as every other page in that same document, so it can only be done if the document is 1 page (and 1 page only), - or if you test again and again with various dimensions, until the text on each page is just as long or short as the text on the last page - otherwise never.

"Files" > "New Pdf document..." > "From blank page" > "Adjusted..." > "Custom..."

But oh, yeah, YouSee is cable and not ADSL - forgot that. I guess they might count TV and Data separately, then.

silly of me not to have mentioned this from the beginning. Yes, cable only.

Curt, you really should find out if you can check the traffic at the router level.
+1

I cannot imagine it should be a problem, as the company already have told me that my registered total download for January merely was 18GB. But of course it would be nice to know their policy on streaming. My Netgear CG3000 gateway doesn't tell how much is coming or going.

Regarding music backup: I have made a simple playlist of all my favourite tracks, and made Media Copy create a copy of it (the actual files), saved to my external backup. So all of my music could go disappearing, but I would still have my 525 favourite music tracks :-)

(please, Curt, make a local backup too)  :-)

oh, you are all so kind-hearted to me  :-*

Yes, Tom, I will - eventually. The reason I took the online offer was the price: $5 per month. The reason I don't have my music backed up (all documents are copied to an external 500GB drive) is, the price: The music has costed me nothing, (and can all be downloaded again), but a 2TB external drive is a little expensive compared to the $5. There are simply too many bills to pay before I can defend to also have a new external drive.

But thank you for caring  ;)

I remember extremely well when the very first version of this pair was launched. I was using FrontPage 2003 but was looking for a newer & smarter version and was expecting Microsoft to deliver. Boy, was I confused and disappointed when I read what Expression Web & Design were offering; this was simply not for me! There is no family likeness between FrontPage and Web & Design at all! I couldn't understand the prices either. Instead I went and purchased all sorts of competitors that I didn't really like in the long run. Wasted money. What I really wanted was, an updated FrontPage "2010".

Now they both have been dumped. And I get to have version 4 for free.

Thanks to mouser's answer and a private message from the honourable charter member mrHappy, I now know a lot more about my download situation: In the entire month of January I downloaded merely 18GB. So even with my new speed (50MBps) there will "always" be a gigantic gap free per month (please, God, don't let me need to download my backup!).

I will remove NetWorx; it is nice, but useless to me, now. (Edited: Revo Pro found no leftovers)

Thanks to all of you for helping me out!

Edit:
I also read what the new limitations are for YouSee customers:

"md" is of course Danish short for "month"

But now I have changed the setting, according to 4wd's recommendation, so we'll see later on, what's happening.

Traffic is now normal. The change of setting did a huge difference:

tell it to Ignore local traffic within the LAN.

Thank you for the directions, 4wd

I installed it yesterday. It has been working for less than 2½ hours in all. Already the total download ("received") has passed 20GB (sent: 629MB). No, at the moment my backup program is not even installed. But now I have changed the setting, according to 4wd's recommendation, so we'll see later on, what's happening.

Thanks, gang. Networx looks promising, I think. I told it to forget about speed and concentrate on in/out everywhere - including the gateway (I assume). I have merely been online for an hour and a half, but already it has passed 7GB coming in (I have only downloaded a 105MB video), and at this rate, 1TB per month seems almost possible. I will of course have to wait and see if any pattern will show up.

-thanks, April.
I was using NetMeter back in my Win 2000 days, but stopped because I only used it for watching if my speed was as promised, which it was.

However:

Hi all,

You will now find the latest release of NetMeter - Version 1.1.4 BETA - in the downloads section.

As you surely know, development for NetMeter was going increasingly slow in the recent years. This is because I either didn't feel like it or didn't have the time to work on it (damn you, real life!).

Also with the introduction of Windows Vista several problems with my implementation of NIC monitoring emerged. Unfortunately I wasn't able to solve these problems 100% as yet. There are still some mysterious crashes and things like interfaces not showing up in NetMeter's config screen.

Long story short - This will possibly be the last release of NetMeter by me! :-(

On the upside: NetMeter is now open source! You can find the Delphi source code in the downloads section
-NetMeter

When I went to their homepage, after reading your post, I was confused what file to get:

-and for these reasons, I will not be investing. I am out.   ;)

Edit:
Thanks for the advices about online backup.
My backups are always 1:1

At first I couldn't find the download link because it is "hidden" in the left advert column. If any one else will try it, the link looks like this:

General Software Discussion / How much have I downloaded?
« Last post by Curt on February 03, 2013, 06:56 AM »
At first I was wondering if this should be posted in The Rant Thread!, but realized that I also have a question which I will like to be answered.
--------------------------------------

I am usually very satisfied with my Internet Supplier; the company is handling my land-line Telephone, my Televison, my Internet, my music file collection, and (for a while) my online backup.

But yesterday they mailed and informed me that they have both doubled my speed AND introduced "Fair Use": I am no longer allowed to download more than 1,000 (a thousand) GB (=1TB) per month! They didn't bother to include anything about "what must I do if I need to download more?", or any words about "how can I download my backup which is more than 1TB?"!

I feel certain I never have downloaded 1TB in a month, and may never download this much (please, God, don't let me need to download my backup!), but one of the problems in my mind is, that I don't know how much I already am downloading, and they have not yet offered any way for me to know this data.

I am not panicking, it will probably take me a year to download 1TB (please, God, don't let me need to download my backup!), but I would certainly like to know the answer to the basic question:

Does Windows or Firefox in any way keep record on How Many Bytes Was Downloaded?
-or is the Internet Supplier the only one who knows how much I am downloading?
-basic question

It is seldom that I miss to notice a new thread, but on this matter I obviously did:

Edit:
Given the fact that TeraCopy hasn't been updated for well over a year,

-the new fact is that now it has been updated!
Well, it is still a 2.3 beta-2 version, but TeraCopy is alive!

I have been using FF Copy for a month, but is skipping it now; It really is fast, but the author meant it, when he named it "Copy" - it doesn't do anything when "Move to...".

How to fix the UPnP security holes
Universal Plug and Play has always had security holes. Here's how to plug them.

thanks for that -
unfortunately, it sounds like you've got to be pretty much an expert to figure this stuff out :(

-exactly my thought as well.
So I wrote Agnitum, because:

So what can you do in the meantime? Just keep that firewall up once and for all against UPnP traffic.
-ZDNet

We've survived UPnP until now, maybe all this is not extremely urgent...
I hope for an answer no later than Monday.

Classic Calendar
That   looks like exactly what mouser said :)

I don't know how old Classic Calendar is, but the installer is from 2005.
The author of Classic Calendar seems to have switched to Mac OS.

However:

I downloaded Classic Calendar and it works with XP and Win7. It is a nice, simple program and is what I've been looking for to calendar work appointments.

-but it will only minimize to taskbar, not to tray - it has no "connection" to  Windows' clock or calendar.

hmm... I clicked "copy Build ID" and got this:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:11.0; .NET CLR 4.0.30319; ffco7) Gecko/20120313 Firefox/11.0 ID:20130119203203

so I went to about.config and found a similar line, right-clicked it and pressed "Reset", and Mozilla is now recognizing my version 18  Job done! :-*

As they say, it is easy, if you do it right.

Thanks to all of you!
