Seems as though getlocalload is something of a damp squib. Doesn't even install, though it says it has. Oh dear, what a pity, never mind.

Installs in Pale Moon v25.5.0 OK - whether or not it does anything is another matter.

Here's a WIP version, run it over your files and see if there is anything wrong.  I already know I have to fix URLs with = in them, more interested in character encoding and output structure, (character encoding worked here).

BTW, I don't know if it's your archiver or my extractor but the example files in your archive had the Japanese characters munged - only place where they appear as they should is in your OP.  To elucidate a bit more, the characters in your OP are UTF-8, the files in your archives seem to be ANSI.

Just double-click the command file and choose a folder (full of .cgp files) from the requester, output will be to CGP2HTML-HHMMSS.html (where HHMMSS is current time) in the folder that the command file resides in.

What it generated imported into Comodo Dragon OK.

Update: Fixed URLs with = in them (well seems to have)

Strange that you should mention that. I'd never heard of a feature-length movie filmed in a single take until last week.

There's also La casa muda, if you like horror, which is done in Long Takew format.  Watched it about a year ago and enjoyed it.

PVC-1 isn't too bad either.

However, I do have tested a bunch of deletion/renaming tools suggested on the internet. None worked.  :-\  :D

Reminds of when I had the same problem about 20 years ago, I had to write a program to rename/delete files that Windows wouldn't touch.

However that was when Windows 3.1 and FAT32 were still the norm.

Been playing a bit more with Hyperlapse, (FHD up and down Billy Goat Bluff this time), and while it may produce good results it has some drawbacks, (AFAIAC), compared to increasing the playback rate in a NLE.

- Subtitles can't be burnt in to the source video because they will be effectively removed by Hyperlapse due to the way it works.  This means some tedious editing of external subtitles to get timing correct - the following two points make using external subtitles almost impossible.
- Instead of a constant rate increase you get a rather slow/fast effect, slow where the camera is panning, fast where it isn't - which can be quite annoying sometimes.
- The big one is you can't set a specific duration of the video, you only have a choice of x2-x25 which usually doesn't give the time that it should be.  This makes it very hard to match it up to an audio track.  Vegas I can at least specify how long the video is going to be down to a specific frame.

I can't tell the difference.

This is something quick and dirty until someone comes up with something better.  It pays no attention to strange character encodings so the Japanese text in your sample will be output as basically garbage but the HTML generated will still work.

Considering mine left the factory with Linpus installed, it's done fine running both XP and 8.1 Pro.  Might try cramming 7HP on it now just to see if it'll upgrade to 10, (it's back on XP since I wanted the 8.1 licence to use elsewhere).

Let's just give you stuff. Filenames? Like 'StrmExt'?

They must like you, top result in Google, Yahoo, and StartPage was StrmExt.dll on x64 Windows for me, (not bad considering I'd never used Yahoo before).

Here's a Paste to ADS version in Powershell (needs v3+), requires no external programs and trims the URL to the last occurrence of '/':

Code: PowerShell [Select]
  1. #############################################################################
  2. ## Paste2ADS.ps1
  3. ##
  4. ## Uses: Get-Clipboard by Lee Holmes (http://www.leeholmes.com/guide)
  5. ##############################################################################
  6.
  7. <#
  8.
  9. .SYNOPSIS
  10.
  11. Retrieve the text contents of the Windows Clipboard and write to file ADS
  12.
  13. .EXAMPLE
  14.
  15. PS >Paste2ADS.ps1 somefile.exe
  16.
  17. #>
  18.
  19. param (
  20.   [string]$file = $(throw "Paste2ADS.ps1 <file>")
  21. )
  22.
  23.
  24. function Get-Clipboard
  25. {
  26.   Set-StrictMode -Version Latest
  27.
  28.   PowerShell -NoProfile -STA -Command{
  29.         Add-Type -Assembly PresentationCore
  30.         [Windows.Clipboard]::GetText()
  31.   }
  32. }
  33.
  34. $clip = (Get-Clipboard)
  35.
  36. $count = [regex]::matches($clip,"/").count
  37. if ($count -gt 2) {
  38.   $text = $clip.SubString(0, $clip.LastIndexOf("/") + 1)
  39. }
  40.
  41. Set-Content -Path $file -Value $text -Stream 'URL'

It's assumed to live in C:\Scripts otherwise edit the Paste2ADSps_install.reg file to reflect wherever you've put it.

Sounds like a meeting of AA :)

"My name is 4wd and I am a download whore."

Well I used to be but I never bothered keeping info on links/pages where I got downloads, just looking at the file name as was downloaded is usually enough to tell me what the file/program was for or did.  The few times my memory failed me it was always a simple matter to look at the properties of either the installer or installed program to give me enough info to find it again.

I look at tackling a search engine as an exercise in lateral thinking rather than a chore ... I always find something interesting even if it's not what I was originally after.

@IainB: I know it's my fault but when I first saw your post I spent 30 minutes doing a nice rational reply regarding perceived faults in WFC before I realised you were talking about WFN.

Any chance you could highlight the difference a bit more in the opening sentence, (font size, colour, something), since while the names and operation are similar they are two completely unrelated programs.

I suppose I must update my WFC review at some point, v4 added a few more nice features.

You should check out the other getElement(s) methods as they can get specific tags, ids, and everything other than just classes.

http://www.w3schools...dom_obj_document.asp

The above has examples you can edit that interact with you.
1818
Create a file called Slashdot-VideoBytes.user.js and copy the code from the post above into it, then save it.

Drag'n'Drop it onto Pale Moon/Firefox, if GreaseMonkey is installed it will see it as a valid Userscript and ask if you want to install it.

What it does:

Code: HTML [Select]
  1. </article><article id="firehose-000" class="fhitem fhitem-poll article usermode thumbs grid_24">
  2.         <header>
  3.                 <div class="vid-river-header">
  4.                         <span>
  5.                                 <a href="/videos">Video Bytes</a>
  6.                         </span>
  7.                         <span class="sub-link pull-right">
  8.                                 <a href="/videos">view more</a>
  9.                         </span>
  10.                 </div>
  11.         </header>
  12.         <div class="units-12 river-group">
  13.            <div id="slideshow-wrap">
  14.               <input type="radio" id="button-6" name="controls" checked="checked"/>
  15.               <label for="button-6"></label>

The above is the section of the page source that deals with the VideoBytes display.

Code: Javascript [Select]
  1. document.getElementsByClassName('vid-river-header')[0].outerHTML = '';

To break this statement down simply, (I'm nothing if not simple):

Code: Text [Select]
  1. document.getElementsByClassName('vid-river-header')
Retrieves an array (it's not really an array but for this explanation it'll do) of DOM elements that have the class vid-river-header which you can see in line 3 of the page source above.

There's only one instance of this class in the whole page, it's the first in our array so we reference it as 0 (zero numbered):
Code: Text [Select]
  1. [0]

We reference the HTML that contains this class using .outerHTML, this will also include all its descendents, (the following <span> tags, etc), until the end of the tag.

Code: Text [Select]
  1. document.getElementsByClassName('vid-river-header')[0].outerHTML

references all of this:

Code: Text [Select]
  1. <div class="vid-river-header">
  2.   <span>
  3.     <a href="/videos">Video Bytes</a>
  4.   </span>
  5.   <span class="sub-link pull-right">
  6.     <a href="/videos">view more</a>
  7.   </span>
  8. </div>

Finally, we replace it with '' (a pair of apostrophes, ie. nothing).  So the page source for that class effectively becomes:
Code: Text [Select]
  1. <header>
  2.
  3. </header>

The same thing happens with the next line except we're now looking for a class of units-12 river-group.

The first line takes care of the blue VideoBytes header, the second takes care of everything in the box below it.

As I said, it's a rather simplistic solution and a simple change of the class name will break it but it works with the source I can currently see.

There's an updated version of StrmExt available here: http://redwoodal.swe...rmExt_mod_1.0.0.5.7z

This version fixes a couple of bugs and lets you edit the ADS, (using RWStream.vbs - you need to hit Cancel when you finish adding stuff).  See my post here if you want to right-click add an ADS called URL.

Here if you want the PowerShell version.

Maybe i am thinking about this wrong.  If i go to downloads folder and right click in empty space the option is not showing.

Correct

If i point to the file i downloaded and then right click i see the option but when i choose it nothing happens.

You did put both Paste2URL.cmd and paste.exe in a directory called C:\Scripts, correct?

I am a little unsure about what to expect but if it should be creating a .url file using the data held in the clipboard as the primary part of the name and .url as the extension, that isn't happening.

1) Right-click on file (for this example it's downloaded program.exe)
2) Choose Paste clip to URL shortcut
3) Creates a file with the same name but with extension of .url (downloaded program.url) - you will not see the extension of .url in Explorer, it will just look like a normal shortcut without any extension.
4) 2015-06-16 15_03_13.png
5) Contents of downloaded program.url

Code: Text [Select]
  1. [InternetShortcut]
  2. URL= http://yadayadayada.com/downloaded%20program.exe

Of course, if Maxthon isn't really storing the URL in the clipboard as just (for example) http://yadayadayada....loaded%20program.exe then the shortcut created will be invalid.  (The URL should contain escaped characters if Maxthon is doing it's job properly.)
1821
The files you want to add comments to don't have metadata or another means of adding extraneous information, (excluding archive comments and the ADS).

But here's an Explorer extension, (with source), that shows whether or not a file has an ADS, I wouldn't think it would be too hard to modify it to show just what a "Comment" ADS contained.

What did I do wrong on the URL paste?

Can't tell you, I'm not sitting in front of your monitor  ;)

Addendum: Found via StackOverflow, there's an old Property sheet handler that may work under x86 (was written for 2000/XP) that shows ADS: StrmExt

64bit version - working on 8.1Pro:

But even if i go to the downloads folder, while i do have the right click option to past clip to url shortcut But-- if i right click the file, doing this makes nothing for me :(  I was so hopeful ... And it is probably something i did wrong.
The registry edit went fine and paste is in the windows folder.

You did edit it to reflect any path changes you made, right?

Works fine here, (even with files with spaces which I forget about most of the time).

As long as you got that far dont suppose you could make a litle more magic and bend this hole procedure into the act of clicking download?  If the URL in in the clipboard, dont suppose there is a way to make it link up with the clicking of the download button?

Not likely, this would probably require monitoring of the clipboard all the time to capture any URLs or some sort of browser plugin.

Nifty thing about the ADS is it's linked to the file, wherever the file goes, whatever it's renamed to, the ADS travels along.  Only works for NTFS naturally, so as soon as you copy to a non NTFS filesystem, it's lost.
1823
So you might as well give the Whole Enchilada a Whirl.  A whole new system.  File-Wiki's that stay attached to the files they comment on.

That's way beyond the scope of my brain cell  ;D

But as a suggestion you could try using the Alternate Data Stream to attach comments to files.

There's an explanation on that page of how the ADS is used to tell Windows whether a download is from a "nice" website or not.

Here's a modified command file that will paste the clipboard to an ADS for a file:
Code: Text [Select]
  1. @echo off
  2. rem Paste2ADS.cmd
  3. rem Puts contents of clipboard into an ADS called Comment
  4. rem Requires paste.exe from http://www.c3scripts.com/tutorials/msdos/paste.html
  5. C:\Scripts\paste.exe >>"%~1:URL"

You can then view it with Powershell:
Code: PowerShell [Select]
  1. PS C:\scripts> get-content -path shortcut.exe -stream 'URL'
  2. http://ss64.com/nt/shortcut.html
  3. PS C:\scripts>
1824
My take on it, since the URL is already in the clipboard just send it to a .url with a little DOS help:

Code: Text [Select]
  1. @echo off
  2. rem Paste2URL.cmd
  3. rem Puts contents of clipboard into internet shortcut
  4. rem Requires paste.exe from http://www.c3scripts.com/tutorials/msdos/paste.html
  5. echo [InternetShortcut] >"%~n1.url"
  6. echo|set /p=URL=>>"%~n1.url"
  7. C:\Scripts\paste.exe >>"%~n1.url"

A little registry hacking to add it to the file context menu:

Install:
Code: Text [Select]
  1. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
  2.
  3. [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Paste clip to URL shortcut]
  4. @=""
  5.
  6. [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Paste clip to URL shortcut\command]
  7. @="cmd.exe /c C:\\\\Scripts\\\\Paste2URL.cmd \"%1\""

Remove:
Code: Text [Select]
  1. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
  2.
  3. [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Paste clip to URL shortcut]

2015-06-16 13_40_58.png 2015-06-16 13_41_38.png

REQUIRES: paste.exe - adjust any path to suit where you put the script and/or paste.exe
1825
Try this:

Slashdot-VideoBytes.user.js
Code: Javascript [Select]
  1. // ==UserScript==
  2. // @name /. VideoBytes kill Kill KILL
  3. // @namespace Modify it yourself
  4. // @include http://slashdot.org/*
  5. // ==/UserScript==
  6.
  7. document.getElementsByClassName('vid-river-header')[0].outerHTML = '';
  8. document.getElementsByClassName('units-12 river-group')[0].outerHTML = '';

Rather simplistic, if the class name changes each day then it will only work for the days that it matches.  Your best bet is to grab all matching tags and iterate through them to find something particular to those DOM elements, then remove them.
