AFAIK IrfanView will also batch resize images:
https://duckduckgo.c...images&ia=images

IrfanView available portable from portable apps
http://portableapps....s/irfanview_portable

I've used both these to batch resize images -- but years ago now, so cant comment on your specific problem.

FWIW I bought WinAntiRansom Plus a while back when on offer.
It does block and ask permission for things to run.
You can add up to 10 'Safe-zone folders'.
...
how good it is, I have no idea

^ loads of backup software exist that do partial file backup. So yeah, you could use one of them. I use Syncovery which does that too, but IIRC only recommends using it for bigger files. (I use it e.g. for a database.)

rsync that wraith mentions does that too. No experience there myself.

You have 30 days to downgrade, I suspect that the best solution, even if you want to try again.

Tried to download a Windows 10 [iso] but apparently Microsoft uses the code from the machine you are going to apply the iso to and you can't use one download on a different machine.

damn, I didnt know that :(

well, that's different from "Yadis is supposed to send the files to the cloud versioned" which prompted my comment. But it's not important.

My solution, like Clive's, is to make the versioned backup locally (can be to same partition if you want), and then sync/backup that online.
Otherwise you're depending on the online backup site's versioning (e.g. the basic dropbox software, or onedrive, or whatever -- which may be an option for you?)

as I said Yadis is supposed to send the files to the cloud versioned

you havent actually looked at Yadis, have you?
EDIT// AFAICS, it doesnt do that (ondrive would have to do that)

do I need that dedicated drive? can't I just specify to back up in onedrive disk directly?

that would be a sync of your files as opposed to a proper backup (but I dunno, does OneDrive do versioning?)

The way Clive is describing is doing backup -- with versioning of files, and that all then gets backed up to onedrive.
That's the way I do backup myself from my desktop:
backup to a second internal harddrive -- that all then gets backed up online and to external HD.

Obvious advantage is a better 'proper' backup, disadvantage is increased size of backup.

good to know about Yadis, must check it out

1) I have a dedicated hard drive which I have configured as the OneDrive destination. Go here  to see how to do it

This review of clipboard extenders rates ClipX best and CLCL next yet neither is mentioned by people here.

there is some good info from Abterix and others about CLCL in the forum if you want to get an idea of it (a simple search should find it)

Microsoft wages war on 'crapware' with new Windows 10 tool

 ;D
it's tempting to have a dig at MS there. Although my problem is mainly with this very persistent adware on Windows 7 that's trying to get me to update to 10 . . .

^ click the spoiler at the bottom of his post to see text. Doesnt make it any shorter, but zoomable.
I guess the advantage of the image is avoiding all the BB code, which I can understand.
When reading though, I'd tend to choose the plain text over the image FWIW

The one thing that kept (keeps) me from using it is the fact that editing notes is in a different window.  Just too alien to my processes.  And looking at the screenshots, it appears that is still the case?  Can anyone that is currently using it let me know if that's the case?

Yes, that's still the case (version 3.1.4)

@K Bohne,
first,
my save settings may be different,
second,
I'm unclear what you mean by 'save to my computer'

My settings are 'autosave changes'

Screenshot - 2016-06-14 , 16_53_06.png

below is what I tried and it worked (with those settings)

  • opened Sample Pictures folder (C:\Users\Public\Pictures\Sample Pictures) in filemanager first and created a copy of one of the jpg images.
  • opened that copy in SSC
  • applied sharpening
  • compared with other version, sharpening was saved

I converted the jpg to png 2.85mb when to 22Mb file.
Opened the png file in SSC went through the same sharpen process and the same problem ocured the output image does not save the sharpened result.
Don't know what to do now??

:) didnt even know SSC did sharpening:
but I found it, and it does work fine here though.

Are any other changes you make in SSC saved to the file?

Post New Requests Here / Re: Suggestion: A new GUI for ExifTools
« Last post by tomos on June 11, 2016, 09:31 AM »
(as for Geosetter, I think ExitToolGUI and/or pyExifToolGui can probably do
about the same thing)

I think the point is that there is no sense in reinventing the wheel if there's aleady a working wheel.
=> i.e. have you tried geosetter? and if so, what's the problem with it?

Or (continuing the wheel metaphor) if the wheel is only a little broken, the first port of call would normally be the developer, as opposed to starting from scratch. (I know you've contacted the developere of the py version)
