Find And Run Robot / Re: FARR review
« Last post by jgpaiva on January 31, 2008, 02:20 PM »
Cool!!!
Congrats, mouser!

It's great that FARR is the one with more plugins, just shows how well mouser designed the plugin system and how cool the DC community is ;)

Also important to notice is that most of the others are criticized for the search not working correctly, which means the heuristics farr uses are the best :P

Lashiec: i don't mean scaning the actions of the software, that makes sense.
What i meant was that it scans the executables themselves, and the disk boot sectors, something that doesn't actually need to be done at that time, and i have delayed for 10 minutes (at the time, it was set to 1minute: the time where all the programs were starting).

N.A.N.Y. Challenge 2007 / Re: WorkCoach - v0.8.0 - January 24, 2007
« Last post by jgpaiva on January 31, 2008, 09:58 AM »
It was reported by a user, using the "report to moderator" button.
Here's the quote:

The reporter has made the following comment:
ON PAGE https://www.donation...94.msg46895#msg46895      WorkCoach-0.8.0-setup.exe   DOES NOT WORK
-report

Not a very thorough description, i must say... I was just wondering if anyone had any trouble.

Ok... So i tweaked some stuff (omg, can you believe that kaspersky is set to scan "startup objects" ON STARTUP? how stupid is that?) and retimed the thing.
My first guess was way off, it took 50s to get to login screen and 3 minutes (in total) to get to a full stop.

JGPaiva's GridMove and Ahk Tools / Re: INSTALL PROBLEM:
« Last post by jgpaiva on January 30, 2008, 05:24 PM »
Ok, it isn't the first time this has happened, unfortunatelly :(

I still haven't figured out why this happens, but i know the solution.

Right-click gridmove's executable and select "properties...". Then on the "Compatibility" tab, select the "Turn off advanced text services for this program" and press OK.

That should solve the problem.

In my case, that depends. Until i get to the windows logon screen, it's pretty fast (10 seconds?). But then, from the moment i input the password until it fully stops.... A whole minute (or more!) goes by.

Unfortunatelly, i still can't find who to blame for that :(

Interesting, Carol!

It's good to know more people are paying attention to this project, it's exactly what it needs ;)

I'm sorry to know that the shell replacement isn't available yet, though :(

Oh, i didn't read your post correctly.

If you aren't using farr v2, you definitelly should, it's an immense advance over farr v1.

Still, on farr v1, you can also have a group as start text, i just can't remember exactly where the option is :(

Regarding 1...

That's the way farr worked before hotkeys were added, and you can reproduce it again now.
Here's how to do it:
1 - Create a group and name it something (i call mine startup ;)).
2 - Go to Options -> hotkeys menu and edit ctrl-space
3 - Select "Set search text below"
4 - Add "startup" (the name of the group you created) to "Text For Search Edit Box" (ok... that description SUCKS!)
5 - press ok :)

Now, when you press ctrl+space, farr will come up with "startup" already written :)
PS: you'll probably want to select the "highlight search text below" so that you can still write away when you open farr.

Regarding 2:
Now that's a funny idea! :)

I was going to make a thread about how to add exceptions to gridmove, but figured that'd give me more work than adding a mechanism inside gridmove to do it instead.

Thus, updated version, please redownload.
You can now add/remove exceptions through the Tray menu, and following the instructions ;)

JGPaiva's GridMove and Ahk Tools / Re: GridMove Grid Making Tutorial
« Last post by jgpaiva on January 28, 2008, 05:14 PM »
Thanks a lot, excogitation!

I've added the 3-part grid to the included grids. Could you add the custom grids to this post?
I really like the way you made those, large triggers and just the right divisions :)

About gridmove moving windows that it isn't supposed to:
This feature was added in a recent version (like 2 weeks ago or something), and it's called "safe mode". If you activate it, gridmove will only move windows that you are normally able to move.

PS: next time, you can host the images and files right here on DC, just by "attaching" them to your posts, it's better because everything gets hosted at DC and we won't depend on file-sharing sites and such ;)
