Find And Run Robot / Re: Problems with FARR
« Last post by mouser on December 14, 2009, 03:42 PM »
hi george,

I'm not sure why farr was insisting on running at startup in your case, but let's see if we can't get you completely clean of it.

First unisntall it from the add/remove programs list (sounds like you already did that).

FARR doesnt change or add any system files, so there are only 2 places that FARR files will be:
1) In it's program files directory: C:\Program Files\FindAndRunRobot\ - you can delete that directory.
2) IF you have vista or windows 7, there will be some configuration files for FARR will also be in a directory of this form: C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\My Documents\DonationCoder\FindAndRunRobot - you can delete that directory as well.

That should do it.  If FARR is still starting at boot time then it means you may have run a copy of it from some other place on your disk that you are forgetting about.. a download directory, etc.

Developer's Corner / Re: This is interesting ... LoseThos Operating System
« Last post by mouser on December 14, 2009, 12:34 PM »
For me these things are important reminders that there is real pure joy to be had in creating something yourself -- regardless if someone else has already done it before and better than you.  I'm not saying you can take that approach on all projects -- most of the time the smart thing is to avoid re-inventing the wheel if your goal is to slay a dragon.  But sometimes the real joy of coding can be found in creating something from the ground up with your own hands.

Every programmer who dreamed of writing their own compiler or operating system should watch that video. It's a real hackers delight.. everything created from scratch and for the pure joy of doing so.

If i plug that url into NetTransport, it records it fine (actually the audio is a tiny bit stuttery but not too bad).
Excellent program that NetTransport is (http://www.xi-soft.com/default.htm)
Maybe it's time for us to try to get another discount on it?

Have you tried also Orbit Downloader (http://www.orbitdownloader.com/) -- it also tends to be good at such things.

ixxo says the new version fixes the problem, so let's see if everyone else agrees. try downloading version 2.26.01 from the web page (or using updater).

Ok so can i ask anyone who is having trouble with urlsnooper not reporting all or any adapters to download windump from the winpcap site:
http://www.winpcap.o...mp_3_9_5/WinDump.exe

Then open up a commandline prompt where the windump.exe executable is, and run: windump -D
(note that the D must be capitalized)

And let me know if windump reports a different list of adapters than url snooper does.
