LaunchBar Commander / Re: Unable to save file
« Last post by mouser on January 11, 2010, 08:39 PM »
the disk isn't full is it?  other than that i'm afraid i can't think of what it could be.  :(

you could try going to the Tools menu and choosing Maintenance -> Evaluate Tree Consistency, or other options and see if it reports any troubles.

I don't really care about widescreen, but i think cranioscopical got it right -- as long as you don't give up vertical resolution, it's fine.  so for me i have 1600x1200 monitors which are non-widescreen, and then i have one 1920x1200 monitor which is widescreeen.

UrlSnooper / Re: Hulu links?
« Last post by mouser on January 11, 2010, 03:16 PM »
url snooper doesn't download anything -- it uncovers the true hidden url links, so that they can be put into other programs that do record such streams.

UrlSnooper / Re: help me please for an URL
« Last post by mouser on January 11, 2010, 02:08 PM »
snooper says the url is:
rtmpt://fms.105.net/live

but this is a format i don't know how to capture.
the wikipedia page on RTMPT is here: http://en.wikipedia....e_Messaging_Protocol
which mentions that there are some tools that claim to be able to record it.  I think it's flash related.
one such tool is: http://rtmpdump.mplayerhq.hu/ but i couldn't get it to work. maybe the youtube flash downloaders will work -- or you could try Orbit downloader, that may work.  Net Transport did not know how to handle the protocol.

Could be either.. BUT FARR tries to be smart and not resolve the UNC shares, so it probably was not that.  the network path definitely could have done it.

Since it was clearing your launch history that did it, this confirms that i probably need to have a way for farr to figure out which drives are network drives and shouldnt have their shortcuts resolved, or else allow a manual specification of such drives.

This has been known to happen when search network shares.. can you check your launch history and see if anything is on a network -- maybe clear it to confirm that's not it.  You can also try disabling plugins to see if that's the cause.  Another trick is to enable the option to show subdirectories names during search, and pay attention to the status bar, see what it says it is searching when it hangs.

Cool application, thank you for sharing!
There's a screencast video on the site for anyone curious.

We are talking about your question here:
Also, let's say I have a directory with portable program files (they weren't installed using an installer).  I want FARR to search those also, but I only want it to pick the exe files.

So you go and add that directory to your search folders, say only to search for .exe files, and give a score to that directory that is higher than any other scores you normally get.. 500 should be fine i'd think but just experiment till it's right.

the other question about favoring certain shortcuts above others is the more real question, and i'll look into the code to give a better answer about that.
17262
b)make shortcuts for my portable programs

well that's where it's handled more easily -- as has been said earlier, you dont need to make shortcuts for your portable items -- i have a folder of non-installer-applications on my computer, and i just add that directory to farr search and give it a nice bonus score, and farr searches that folder happily.
17263
i think i understand what you are saying -- you have shortcuts in your start menu -- some link to an exe, some link to help file, etc.
you want the shortcuts linking to exe to higher scores than the rest.
i *used* to do scoring bonuses based on pattern matching with LINKED files rather than the shortcut.. but im not sure any more, let me check and see if i can re-enable this option.

Oh very nice find.

There is a new poll on the UPX form asking whether people approve of the idea of changing AHK compiler behavior to not use UPX by default.

Find And Run Robot / Re: How do I uninstall FARR?
« Last post by mouser on January 09, 2010, 01:11 AM »
FARR comes in an installer.  Like all of my apps it can also be unzipped manually for a non-install use.

sounds like the files were deleted manually.
the easiest thing to do in such cases (with farr and any program that is on the add/remove list), believe it or not, is to reinstall the program, and then go back to the add/remove programs and choose to uninstall.
17273
i'm trying to track it down, stay tuned.
17274
so basically the idea is that the device being flexible is an advantage in terms of resistance to breaking?
