i think what you are seeing is just that its not replacing it YET.. it will replace it when you launch.

v1.32.03 - May 4, 2010
  • [Feature] Added commandline arguments to display a specific away message, or show a quick away message box with past away message history to choose from.
  • [BugFix] Fixed some bugs with cropping images.
  • [MinorFeature] Improved memory usage when working with large images.
  • [MinorFeature] Improved speed of image updating.
  • [MinorFeature] Added new crop goal size setting (small images can be set to show fully with black borders on one side).
  • [MinorFeature] Added a few new meta commands for dynamic commandline tools and quote files.
  • [Feature] Added $apprunasync to run a commandline in hidden window asynchronously; useful for background image/quote downloading.  See flickr downloader tool download for sample of this use.
  • [MajorFeature] Added support for image-directory based commandline tool execution.
16403
v2.81.01 - May 4th, 2010
  • [MajorFeature] Completely re-rewritten new method for capturing Aero Glass themed Semi-transparent windows on Vista and Windows 7.  Based on an approach described by Ian Griffiths (http://www.interact-...7/01/30/recoveralpha), with several tweaks for automatic border detection and improved color handling.  A new options tab ("Windows Capturing") was added to control the various options for it.  Note that by default SC will preserve the entire transparency recovered from the window; this will allow you to composite the screenshot in graphics editing software with it's original semi-transparent regions and effects.  By default SC will attempt to remove the shadow effect imparted by Aero, but you can change this on the Windows Capture option tab.
  • [MinorChange] Changed default hotkey for capturing active window to Ctrl+PrtScr (the previous default of Alt+PrtScr was very stupid decision since the Alt key can activate menus)
  • [BugFix] SC was refusing to capture certain windows like Google Chrome; errors in capturing are now reported better.
  • [BugFix] With the option to remove border shadow, full screen active window captures were being eaten into; SC now ignores this option on maximized apps.
  • [MinorFeature] Removed aero capture delay setting - SC should now capture as fast as it can and lengthen delay when needed.
  • [BugFix] Hopefully eliminated bug where aero capture could be blank if screen refresh did not happen fast enough.
16404
v1.112.01 - May 4, 2010
  • [Feature] You can now drag+drop files and folders onto tree configuration nodes that aren't containers, and items will be added below them, like siblings.
  • [BugFix] When dragging and dropping files+folders onto tree configuration, they were previously lowercased.

this is really strange..

ok as a test can you try this:
change the alias trigger text to be something like: testpskill
and change the regular expression pattern to something like: ^psk (.*)

and maybe remove the \\%cliptext% from the result.

and then type in search: psk notepad

and see if the result shows.. i'm trying to help us figure out what it is that is causing it to not show a result.

and your alias is exactly as you showed it in your first screenshot? (can you go check)

ok that is strange indeed!

when does it go blank.. as soon as you type the letter n?

does it matter what's in the clipboard at the time you type?

what are you expecting to see? im not following what you are saying isn't working.. show us a screenshot of you typing something in the search and not getting the result you expect, and then tell us what result you did expect to see.

it goes away? i created the exact same alias you are showing, and it seems to display fine even as i type any process name.

but as ewemoa clarified, your result should point to the full path for pskill, like a result of:
c:\program files\Pskill\pskill.exe \\%cliptext% $$1

something like that.  but that shouldn't have any bearing on whether the result is shown as you type.

it's probably also worth mentioning in this thread that there are ways to get a non-expiring license key immediately without donating.. i send non-expiring permanent license keys to anyone who emails and let's me know that they are: doing volunteer work, are involved in freeware coding, would rather donate to a local charity, or just have given it some thought but decided that they can't or won't donate.  we're not trying to punish anyone for not donating -- we're just trying to get people to pause for a few seconds and at least seriously consider the idea of making a donation to support the site.

we are a friendly bunch here, and we love having new people stop by and visit or even make a little corner for themselves and take up residence and join in our conversations :)  we don't have to agree with each other about everything (or anything!) -- as long as disagreements are respectful, everyone is welcome

It's really too bad no one has come up with a company that can custom build keyboards to users desired shape and size and layout.. that might be quite popular.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Auto Print
« Last post by mouser on May 04, 2010, 04:21 PM »
great.

one thing i can't remember is if screenshot captor will remember for the next time you run it, when you configure your printer to use landscape mode, so that it always uses landscape mode from then on.

if it doesn't someone let me know and i'll see if i can have it remember that.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Auto Print

First grab the latest beta from here: https://www.donation...nshotCaptorSetup.exe
because it has improved windows 7 capturing.

Then make one printout from the File menu and choose the size option: Fit to Page.

From then on out screenshot captor should remember to scale any image to fit the page when auto printing.

you know what would be smart is if you can find a local supercheap bad keyboard you can try the experiment on first -- rather than cutting up a keyboard you actually use.

perhaps someone who knows what a keyboard tends to look like inside can advise you as to the probability that you can cut that off and have the keyboard still work.  based on my rudimentary observations i'd guess your chances of success are somewhere in the 0 range. :)

First thing that needs to be said is thank you for taking the time to post.

As wraith says -- you can use Url Snooper freely without making a donation and without having to wait.  The license key you download today will last for 6 months without any limitation in the software.  After 6 months if you still like using the software, you have to visit the page again and download a new license key.  6 months after that, if you still like using the software, you will be given a license key that will never expire and you'll never have to come back again.

We know this is unusual, and maybe it sounds complicated.  I know it can seem annoying and frustrating, especially if you are like me and don't want to have to be bothered with silliness when all you are interested in is finding a tool to do the job.

I just ask that you try to understand where we are coming from -- while the rest of the internet is making money off of advertisements or selling commercial software, we are trying very hard to make our own way in the world by building a place where people can pay what they want to directly support the continued development of software.

Ironically, and tragically - it turns out that while many people seem to have no trouble paying for software that they can't get free, few people are willing to contribute money to a software project unless there is some compelling reason to do so.  We are trying hard to find a way to strike a balance -- to keep our software free and easy to use, but at the same time find a way to reach people and explain how important it is that we have their financial support *if* they like what we are doing and can afford to support us.

You can read a little bit more about some of reasons we do things the way we do here.

I can say with confidence that i would advise anyone who isn't a hardcore tinkerer/coder who loves to get involved with complicated intricasies to stay well clear of Drupal.  It's powerful but not something i would wish on anyone who doesn't want to sink an infinite amount of time into learning it.

Other than that, i can only second your instincts that a CMS would help him if he wants to extend and maintain a site himself.

This site has been mentioned on donation coder several times and was featured today on the excellent ShellCity site.  Very little info there about the author of the software, but the programs are all free, and donations are requested.

There are several dozen small utilities there that aid using windows in various ways for those with visual impairments and other issues.  Some useful tools.

Site/Forum Features / Re: Discussion: How can we Improve DonationCoder?
« Last post by mouser on May 04, 2010, 01:32 AM »
Ian,

your post may be an example of the fact that the sophisticated users will almost always have a way to get at the content they find interesting, and locate the stuff they care about.. and so i'm not so sure you are the kind of user who will be much affected by organizational changes.

personally i'm satisfied with the way the forum is basically structured and navigated, in terms of following discussions, etc.

i think the case for re-organization is best made if you view the site from the standpoint of someone new to DC, who comes in and is interested in for example, any small utilities that may have been created on the site for managing keyboard hotkeys..  how would they look for it? they would probably have to search on the forum for "hotkey" and go through tons of results.  here's a case where having a better indexed and organized catalog of coding snacks developed by dc users would go along way.  Our current Coding Snacks page is here.  While it's not the worst thing in the world, it is still far from ideal, as well as not being easy for coders to update themselves.

so from my standpoint i think maybe the best bang for the buck in terms of improving site organization is to leave the forum as it is -- and just focus on making the rest of the non-forum website pages on DonationCoder.com better in terms of exposing the rest of the content on the site, and making it easier to maintain those pages.

app: ok i just reverted to our more normal front page.. i changed it a while ago to make the front page show the blog content in an effort to make it more useful.

but i think the issues you raise about what should the front page show, go right to the heart of what skrommel was saying and also what i agree we need to do, which is make the front page more like a NEWS front page, with the latest content on the site highlighted.  latest coding snacks, latest mini reviews, latest software updates, latest blog items, etc., all in a compact format.
