Screenshot Captor / Re: Windows 7 Modal Dialogs - Aero Glass problem
« Last post by mouser on August 20, 2010, 09:20 AM »
thankfully because of all of the extra work that goes into capturing aero transparency, this should not be a huge problem to fix -- because SC already does not "trust" the dimensions it is told for the window, and instead takes a bigger area in order to look for shadows, etc.  so it should just be a matter of enlarging the area it considers.. i think.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Right click context menu not working
« Last post by mouser on August 20, 2010, 08:39 AM »
thanks for the report; ill see if i can fix the underscore problem.

regarding context menu -- can you tell me what operating system you are using?  and you are saying that when you right-click on an item, it opens it? does this happen with items that are on the dock itself also?

can anyone else confirm they are or are not having the same problem doing an active window capture on a modal dialog on windows 7?

i do have an idea of something i might test if i can't reproduce the problem.. because of the way SC captures active windows on win7, it may be that the window is not having enough time to redraw itself completely or regain focus while it's being captured.  i can introduce an additional delay if that is indeed the problem.. i may send you a link to a beta version to test.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: launchBar slow and crashes
« Last post by mouser on August 20, 2010, 08:20 AM »
there is no reason it should be slow when working properly.

i wonder if the problem is that you have an item in your launchbar that does not exist on the disk?
you might also check that the topmost "Options" node has the following UNchecked: "Search different drives for missing node item paths"
and that the dock node has the following UNchecked: "Hide Missing (slower)"

see if that makes any difference.

you might also try starting a new dock file with just one or two items and see if it's still slow.  if not then at least we know it's something you are adding that is confusing the program and making it slow down.

you could also send me your .mcf launchbar file if you want me to take a look at it ([email protected])

Let me try to reproduce this, sounds like it should be an easy bug to fix.

what would minimizing it mean, thats the question.

maybe i could put back the minimize button, but make it do the same things as alt+H, which is to make the dialog go away and just keep the file.

would you really want the window to minimize to the task bar so you could bring it up later and work on the file?  i find that in such cases one usually just wants that window to go away completely and let you use the main interface when you are ready.

i think you are referring to the post-capture dialog.
you can choose whether to show that or not -- i never use it myself.
does that answer your question or did you have something else in mind.

as a temporary workaround you could clear that edit box specifying the sound file.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Latest FARR Release v2.107.04 beta - Sep 23, 2012
« Last post by mouser on August 18, 2010, 08:44 PM »
New update with big improvement to the speed at which FARR displays/wakesup from minimized state:

Version 2.90.01 - Aug 18, 2010
  • [MajorFeature] Faster wakeup display from minimized state (see also the StayInMemoryLonger option on General Options tab)
  • [Feature] Alias matches now show instantly even when keypress delay option is enabled.
  • [BugFix] When you do not have "stop on exact alias match" checked and an alias was matched, it could show large numbers of results.
  • [Feature] New install of farr now adds the search directory %PROGRAMFILES64% which will search in the win64 specific program files directory (not just the Program Files (x86) directory); older users should add this directory manually.
  • [BugFix] When launch results had an argument that ended in \ it could mess up launching of them
  • [BugFix] When the option to show FARR in taskbar when active was set, there was an additional delay before FARR could start accepting characters after unminimizing.
  • [MinorFeature] Added text in options tabs reminding people to right-click to add/edit/delete items.
  • [MinorFeature] Added version of appcapappendmemo that doesn't scroll to bottom of memo.

minor update:
v2.84.01 - August 18th, 2010
  • [HelpFile] Updated the information on using Ctrl+Shift trick with the MoveTo menu, and changed behavior slightly -- thanks lanux!
  • [MinorFeature] Browse for new screenshot folder now lets you put in path manually if you want.
  • [BugFix] If you switch or rename image files while editing a text box object on a newly created text box, you lose the text.
  • [MinorFeature} You can now hold the Ctrl key while using the "move to.." menu item

Living Room / Board Game Review Site Roundup
« Last post by mouser on August 18, 2010, 10:37 AM »
As some of you know I've caught the board game bug.  More than playing them I enjoy reading about them and thinking about the different mechanics and game design ideas.

I'd like to start a thread collecting various sites and blogs that review board games.  Here's a few to start us of -- fellow board game fans please add more.  I'll link directly to the sites or to DC threads about them:

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: FARR Plugin: TimeZone [Update version 1.4.1]
« Last post by mouser on August 18, 2010, 09:33 AM »
CyberEvil's problem seems to be that FARR isn't executing the executables's? ...and Sri's, at this stage, seems to be similar...
yeah, maybe a problem not having permission to launch it, either that OR timezone is looking for the executable in the wrong directory.  maybe add some error checking to see that the file to be executed is really where you think it is?

on vista and win7, they are somewhere in the My Documents/DonationCoder/FindAndRunRobot directory; exit farr and delete that and you should be back to a clean slate.

new beta version up.

What would be an "unusual way"?
i guess i'm most interested in hearing how it's working for people who dont have the default settings regarding what farr displays when you un-minimize it; i.e. people who have it set to start with some text in the window instead of blank, or people who trigger it in unusual ways, etc.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Auto-push/pull clipboarder?
« Last post by mouser on August 17, 2010, 04:38 PM »
CHS has merge function that will let you merge a bunch of clips into one, and it does have a special pasting mode that will let it send tabs in order to advance through a form while pasting items -- though not a mode for doing that with multiple clip text, but it doesnt have a sequential/stack pasting mode.  it does seem like a good idea though.. i'd love to hear from someone who has compared clipcache, arsclip, and clipmate functionality in this regard and can describe what an elegant/powerful solution would look like for CHS that captures the best of all worlds; then i would implement that.

Finished Programs / Re: Chorded shortcuts for RSI prevention
« Last post by mouser on August 17, 2010, 11:00 AM »
the traditional thing to do would be to use an alias name you dont use as a prefix for any search, like
zma
instead of something common like ma.

but if you are willing to use a different hotkey to show farr, you can make a new hotkey and tell it to start the search text with something already in it, like "auto_", which would mean you could create aliases like "auto_ma" and then just hit the special hotkey and then type ma.

does that make sense?
