i haven't used the program but doesn't it already do that? there is a feature listed as 'Automatic enabling and disabling of close buttons on program start and stop, and on window creation.'

this makes me glad that Farr is named uniquely but RunIt! isn't the same as RUNit. you can compare the screenshots and also check out the archived RunIt! page.

Loading times take forever! Probably 20-30 seconds any time I go from town to the dungeon. Also, why the long load time just to show the menu, which upon clicking Continue makes it load all over again before letting me play? Ugh!

i also have this problem. i googled and found this suggestion but not sure what to make of it.. does anyone know of a fix for this problem?

that's quite a number of times this game is being on sale. maybe they're taking advantage of the delays in Diablo 3.

General Software Discussion / Re: Default audio settings
« Last post by lanux128 on March 25, 2010, 10:36 PM »
you can try this tool: QuickMix.

What is QuickMix?
Are you fed up with carefully setting the audio mixer on your Windows computer only to have the settings changed by another application or when you reboot?

Do you need to store and recall different sets of mixer settings quickly and easily? Then QuickMix is for you.

QuickMix is a simple applet that allows you to store all or part of the current state of your audio mixer in a settings file, and to restore the mixer to that state whenever you want.

It is true that Resource Hacker is no longer being developed, but it was updated more recently than Anolis Resourcer. Anolis was updated last September. ResHack was updated last December. :P

One off update - 19 December 2009 (version 3.5.2 beta):

I needed to access resources in a 64bit Windows executable so I've just updated Resource HackerTM to open (ie decompile/recompile) these files too. This new version also displays PNG image resources. However, please understand that I have no intention of reviving this project so please DON'T ask for other features. Also, because this version has only had limited testing I'm releasing it as a beta version. You can download this beta version here - reshack_setup.exe

lol, i didn't know about this recent update.. must download now! :)

I actually just wanted something that could change the icon for any exe, not just compiled AHK scripts. Resource Hacker from that thread worked great. Thanks!

nice, Resource Hacker is a very good tool but is no longer being developed. in case you need a more recently developed tool, try Anolis Resourcer.

among its features are:
  • Viewing Resources
  • Exporting and Extracting Resources
  • Replacing and Updating Resources
  • Intelligent Icon Replacement
  • Vista MUI and RC CONFIG Aware
  • x64 Support
  • Command-Line Arguments
  • Portable

@delcacho: this is built-in for Vista, just press the Shift key when you're right-clicking on the file.

To easily copy the full path to a file, including it's file name in Vista, locate the file using Windows Explorer or Search for the file, then hold the Shift key and Right click on the file name.

In the Right click context menu select Copy as Path.

I can't figure out how to get this to work in linux (from a liveCD) and I don't think/know if the Windows version would work if Windows doesn't recognize the drive. Any tips?

if the problematic HDD is hooked onto the computer as a secondary HDD then TestDisk will scan and display all the attached devices. of course this is subjective but worth a try.

Maybe with all of these people on steam with it, we can get some matchmaking together for a DC sniper hunt

that sounds great! it's been too long since the last DoCo games get-together.

long story short: i was looking for a 'start menu replacer' in the AHK forums when i noticed Skrommel's apps. that in turn brought me to DoCo where i found FARR and bliss. 8)

you can also use Outlook Express Quick Backup (OEQB) if you want. it's not fully automated but there is a mini-tutorial that shows how it is done.

maybe partition table is broken since Ubuntu also can't read the HDD info in full, try something like TestDisk to view/fix partition headers. most likely there's bad sectors abound, as you've already mentioned.
