It may have the most documentation in the world - but it is a shame that it isn't in the least bit accurate, and doesn't bear any relation to what you actually see on the screen.
It requires a bit of experience to see which doku is relevant and which is kinda outdated. The problem is that there is simply too much doku (=confusing) for beginners .

Don't believe the 1-2-3 easy install - it simply does not work ... not even close ...
What was the problem? I hav installed about 15 Typo systems and never run into any problem - not even the first time I installed it. If you are still interessted to try Typo I recommend "Webserver on a stick" --> http://www.chsoftwar.../useware/wos/wos.htm it comes as a ready to run package including PHP, Apache and MySQL.

Finally did all the (not so easy) installation (well as much as I could do) and went to the front page of the website and it asked me to login as admin
If you have used the installer there should be a user called "admin" with "password" as password

Thanks - I don't mind tinkering but this is beyond frustration ...
As I wrote before - its hard to get started, but the benefits just amazing. If you (or anyone who's reading this) still would like to "play" with it, just drop me a pm - we can meetup in ICQ or something for "remote help"...

Site/Forum Features / Re: NEW SITE FEATURE: Drupal Pages

Only drawback I can see is that if you want WYSiWYG editing you have to use Internet Explorer at the moment (text based editing in other browsers - but Java based editor is in the pipeline).
Typo3 offers about 1000 extensions. The Extension System is really good and simple to use. There are alternative WYSIWYG editors (typo-slang: "RTE") - like htmlArea which is cross browser compatible. Take a look at the extension list: http://typo3.org/ext...ons/repository/list/ ;)

Another BIG advantage is the documentation. Typo3 is one of the best documented opensource projects I've ever seen - see it at: http://typo3.org/doc...ment-library/Matrix/

I love this cms  :-*

btw - there are some videos to get started: http://typo3.org/documentation/videos/

I'm reading that mambo/joomla integrates much more easily with the smf forum system.. so i'm going to try a mamo install next.

From my experience: Mambo is such a strange system. For me it was a real pain to work with it. Have you considered Typo3? I don't know how popular it is in America, but in Europe it is very popular. I have done a lot of Typo3 projects - the start is kinda hard, but the possibilities are infinite.

Living Room / Re: Visual 2005 Express for FREE
« Last post by crono on November 08, 2005, 06:21 PM »
I just installed Visual  C# Express. First of all: I love the Interface (GUI) - it looks a bit like Eclipse but "cleaner" in some way. Second: It's faster - compared to Visual Studio .NET 2003. I have to work with the dotNet Framework 2.0 in my final year project (diploma thesis) comming next year - so I appreciate that I have not to buy the "Full" Visual Studio 2005, which is a lot oversized for the project...

Hi Mouser, Hi Forum

what do you think of a little commandline tool which loads the picture right up on you FlickR Account? I think this would be really nice :) FlickR provides an API in various languages including Delphi, .Net and so on... http://www.flickr.com/services/api/

Hi,

you can do a lot of things with the commandline versions (http://www.imagemagi...mmand-line-tools.php) of Image Magick (http://www.imagemagi...org/script/index.php). This includes framing, combining, watermarking, set annotations, creating thumbnails and so on...

You can see some example commandline calls for annotating at http://www.cit.gu.ed...imagick6/annotating/
for more calls see http://www.cit.gu.ed...y/graphics/imagick6/

Also nice to demonstrate the IM power are the "Graphics from the command line" articles at IBM.com

i'm making a list in help file of useful free addon tools that might be useful to add to screenshot captor tool menu.

I think imagemagick or theGimp would be also nice "Addons" for more advanced watermarking or image manipulation. TheGimp can be scripted via Script-Fu and it can be run from the shell. It is very powerfull - you can combine Images, adding borders and so on... Imagemagick is also good for watermarking (Text + Icons) and some othe nice FX

crono do you think you would be willing to send me the little c# script you made for me to add in like an addon download or something?
I will clean up the code a little bit and send it to you next Monday.

however, what you are asking for is quite simple to write a tiny little commandline program that you could pass the filename on the commandline and it would create that file and invoke ftp on it.
I know - I wrote a litte hack in C# for myself, but maybe other user need this feature also...

you might be able to call just an ftp commandline and specify filename, host, username, pass all on the commandline in which case you wouldn't even need this.
This was also my first thought - but the standard "ftp.exe" which comes with Windows only supports login via parameters, not the upload by itself.

so it's important to you that you be able to do all this with one shortcut?
Not important - but nice. I worked alot with "hardcopy" (www.hardcopy.de) - which features this shortcut, so it is just only a habit ;)

its not just that you want to be able to select an ftp command from tool menu, but you want a single shortcut key to take screenshot and then run the command.
correct :)

if this is important to people then i could add some way to specify tool commands to after certain hotkeys.. but this might be a bit of work if there is no one else who cares about it..
Ok - no problem - if no one cares about, just drop it - it's only a suggestion

Hi Mouser,
we have spoken about this topic via Email before, but I found a simple solution :).

1) I  think it is easy to add a shortcut for "take screenshot and upload it" - simplay say [ctrl + print]
2) SC takes the shot and saves it
3) SC generates a little text file with the following content (Name: ftpcon.txt):

OPEN [YOUR_HOST]
[YOUR_USERNAME]
[YOUR_PASSWORD]
PUT [THE_FILE]

4) SC calls ftp.exe with the parameter -s
C:\ ftp -s:ftpcon.txt

5) FTP will upload the Image

6) SC deletes "ftpcon.txt"

So the only thing to implement is the Textwriter and 3 fields for the preferences

just an idea :)

bye
