Note: if you want to wait another week then there is no need to send me your address.
I'll just process those people that send me their addresses as i get them and keep checking on cafepress progress fixing their problem.

its actually cheaper for me this way, ordering each one individually and have them sent, it's just a pain in the a** compared to the gift certificate way.

I've been hounding cafepress support staff for almost 2 weeks not to fix their gift certificate page, with little luck.  They keep insisting it will be working any day now, but it just drags on..

At this point what I may do is start ordering them shipped directly to users who want to send me their shipping address.
You can pm me the info and tell me which mug you want, the standard one with cody at the keyboard, or the exploding cody one.

And if you are outside the USA, please tell me your address in a format suitable for the order form: Tell me what your street address is, your Town/City, your State/Province, and your Zip/Postal Code.

now that sounds interesting.

N.A.N.Y. 2011 / Re: That NANY badge
« Last post by mouser on January 16, 2011, 08:55 PM »
The second badge could then have a changeable numeric element to acknowledge the times someone's participated.

that's an interesting idea, and feasible.  though i think just one nany badge in that case, with a number indicating how many times you've participated.

i prefer hamradio's  badge style to the gradient.. i think at that small resolution it just looks cleaner.

that is strange.. if it didn't happen on subsequent runs it probably has something to do with the default settings on first use.  can't think of what it would be in particular though..

Same colour keeps some visual conformity...

that's why i was voting for dif colors -- just to break up the monotony.  maybe if they were all in same family -- like pastels.
i think the other reason, besides just the aesthetic niceness of seing not just a row of the same icons, would be that it kind of helps identify the group -- ie the orange nany badges all participated in the same nany, etc.

but i don't think it really matters much, so whatever people want.  we can try it both ways and see.  still waiting for hamradio to get back to me about the new badges.

Living Room / Re: Was Stuxnet Worm Built to Attack Iran's Nuclear Program?
« Last post by mouser on January 16, 2011, 02:36 PM »
update in NY times today:

http://www.nytimes.c.../16stuxnet.html?_r=1

"In interviews over the past three months in the United States and Europe, experts who have picked apart the computer worm describe it as far more complex — and ingenious — than anything they had imagined when it began circulating around the world, unexplained, in mid-2009. "

"The worm itself now appears to have included two major components. One was designed to send Iran’s nuclear centrifuges spinning wildly out of control. Another seems right out of the movies: The computer program also secretly recorded what normal operations at the nuclear plant looked like, then played those readings back to plant operators, like a pre-recorded security tape in a bank heist, so that it would appear that everything was operating normally while the centrifuges were actually tearing themselves apart."

Sleep-posting? Intriguing idea + great descriptive term. Is that your own?

hardly, been around for years.

I have now made the changes, so while i still think sleep-posting or something else equally harmless is the most likely cause, i'll now be able to look up the ip and other info associated with every edit made on the forum if need be.

As a final note: It is somehow difficult to handle PhraseExpress related issues/questions in another product's thread. On the one hand we don't want to appear that we would ignore any such question regarding our product as we consider any feedback very important. On the other hand, I also don't want to "hijack" other's threads for this purpose.

This is definitely a problem that everyone who writes software that gets mentioned in threads faces, and there is no good easy answer when you see someone make a negative comment that you think is misinformed.

Appreciate the positive tone  Now let's get back to our normal productive discussions and focus this thread back on topic.

one more clue:

looking at the edit, i can see that one other change was made to the text: from "and there you appeared" to "and there you appeared again." which seems to me an odd change for someone else to do besides you.. maybe you edited that one line and somehow the quote got messed up..

regardless, while posts are each tagged with the ip of poster, mods aren't.  though the log of user logins does list ips (and only shows yours), i am modifying the post modification log code to record ips as well, so that should solve the mystery if it ever happens again.

Is there any way to see the IP address of where a person logged in from?

actually yes, we can look up the ips for all the recent posts you've made, and they all come from two ips that you have been using for all your posts.

don't forget that the time stamp refers to central time in the US. or rather, its showing what YOU set your time offset to be from the server time so make sure you have that correct.

so i think there are two possibilities -- either you really did wake up and make a sleep post, which is kind of a fun idea and seems possible.  or something else got screwy on the forum and someone posted a reply and somehow it got recorded as from you instead of them..

sounds like something weird must have happened -- i think you woke up and sleep-posted a kind word.

My view is, the longer you have been a DC member, the more you are expected to be polite and kind even in the face of withering attack :)
Long time members are expected to embrace the calming zen spirit of Cody the Bird.

I think it's also a matter of trying to avoid getting into the situations where everyone feels the burning need to have the last word or pile on.  The longer you are a member the more you should know that sometimes holding your tongue or taking the high road leads to a better experience for all of us.  And of course we have enough humour on this forum to survive anything :)
