Post New Requests Here / Re: Podcast Conversion and dates
« Last post by mouser on March 21, 2011, 09:32 AM »
interesting...  in thinking about a general purpose solution, one question is, can you keep the base filenames the same?
if so then a good general purpose solution might be an app that scans a directory and sets the file date stamps for all sets of files with same basename (and different extensions) to the date of earliest datestamp in the set.

Screenshot Captor / Re: New pixelate effect for Screenshot Captor
« Last post by mouser on March 21, 2011, 07:38 AM »
Some explanation:

Pixelation is yet another option for hiding details -- it can be a good option between the low-security of gaussian blurring and the high security (but ugliness) of black-lines, offering a lossy blurring effect where fine details cannot be recovered.

General Software Discussion / Re: Time Tracking Tool lost...
« Last post by mouser on March 21, 2011, 02:45 AM »
Did this idea go anywhere?

The screenshot captor code could definitely be turned into such a tool.. and actually i wonder if my Webcam Video Diary tool might be an even better vehicle as the base, since it has better support functions for browsing multiple directories.

But i don't have enough interesting new ideas for the category to warrant it at the moment -- if someone could explain to me why the existing tools don't cut it i might be persuaded..

LaunchBar Commander / Re: problem with deleting nodes
« Last post by mouser on March 20, 2011, 07:08 PM »
If you had just opened the configuration tree, left the default selected node alone, which may default to the dock itself (or the file), and right clicked on a node without first left-click selecting it, it could have deleted the entire tree.

ps. Actually if you clicked delete on the file node it would have just closed the file which would have seemed like everything was deleted.  I have since removed this confusing behavior.

Thanks for the report and the note about the child counts being off by one.

What i found when putting in the new warnings before deleting is that it was very easy to select one node, and then right click on a DIFFERENT node to get the context menu and choose delete, and the node that would be deleted was the previously selected node, NOT the node you right clicked on.  So I think that might have been what happened to you.  Now when you right click on a node it is selected first before the context menu comes up, so i think that should solve the problem.

v1.124.01 - March 20, 2011
  • [MinorFeature] Right-click context menu for tree node now selects it first (could be source of reported deletion bug)
  • [MinorFeature] New confirmation when deleting nodes (reports caption of node to be deleted and summary of children count); confirms when trying to delete parent node with many children.
  • [MinorFeature] Custom hotkey option for bringing up configuration tree.
  • [BugFix] Attempt to improve vertical docking bar blank area display.
  • [BugFix] LBC was overly aggressive about reacting to screen resolution changes, especially on multimonitor setups; should now only readjust when a monitor a dock is on changes resolution.  (uncheck main option to disable this behavior).
  • [BugFix] Right-clicking in menus to bring up context menu could sometimes launch the item.
  • [BugFix] The borders of left+right docked docks could become hidden.
  • [BugFix] Rebuilding of docks sometimes forgot recent size changes.
  • [MinorImprovement] Left+right docked bars with normal and menu buttons of different widths would left-align icons; they are now centered if the "all same size" option is set.

Hi GP,

I've done lots of URL Snooper updates which is the core of Roku Radio Snooper, but I tend not to update the Roku Radio Snooper build.  I could do so though if people want.

Official Announcements / Fundraiser Day 19
« Last post by mouser on March 19, 2011, 08:01 PM »
It's Day 19 of the Fundraiser and we've surpassed our $10,000 fundraising goal!!

A giant thank you to everyone who has donated and made the site possible.

But we're not going to end the fundraiser mid-month just because we reached our goal.  We've extended the thermometer to a distant $15,000 finish line, and we're going to see how close we can get to that by the end of the month.  Everything is just icing on the cake at this point, but every bit helps.  So if you haven't donated yet, now is the time.

For Day 19, DC member Ath released a new utility to the public; based on a request on the Coding Snacks section, Excel2Html is a commandline tool that will convert an excel file to an html table.  Read more and download: here.

Official Announcements / Fundraiser Day 18

Day 18 of the Fundraiser.  Once again DC member Skwire comes through with a small utility based on a request made on the Coding Snacks section of our forum.

The original request was for a utility that could sort a list of lines based on some text in the middle of the lines.  Skwire's solution, Regex Text Sorter, goes one step further and let's you sort lines based on any criteria that can be captured by a regular expression.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Help File Problem
« Last post by mouser on March 19, 2011, 01:50 PM »
There is a weird thing that sometimes happens when try to access chm help files that you have extracted from a zip file manually -- windows won't open it properly and it shows a blank contents when it opens.  the solution is to find the file, right click on it and choose properties, and then choose unlock.

This is an example of Microsoft doing things horribly wrong.

One of the perks of being in Cody's Club is if you ever find yourself out on the street with not a penny in your pocket, you may request a loan from any (non-captive) flying bird you see.  Just stick out your hand at arm's length, face up, and approach the bird slowly.  If bird flies away and refuses to give you a loan, please report him to the authorities for violating his obligations.

Note: You may need to present your signed DonationCoder.com membership card to the bird (and the authorities if you are reporting the bird).
