A point about key size:

My understanding is that all of these implementations of Blowfish, are Blowfish 448, which supports a max key size of 56 bytes.

It may "accept" a 98byte key, but it don't believe it is using more than 56 bytes of it.  though the question is (and the incompatibilities emerge from) which 56 bytes it is using.

I'd love to hear someone with a better understanding of Blowfish448 talk about this, since i've forgotten most of what little i once knew.

General Software Discussion / Re: Google+

A while ago i wrote:
I think the dirty little secret of google+ and twitter, etc. is that a huge number (the majority?) of accounts are actually created by bots for a variety of reasons.  Of course no site wants to admit this because they love the headlines that make it look like huge numbers of people are joining.  Maybe google is just deleting some of them.

Here's a peak at the shady underbelly:
http://gawker.com/58...r-followers-are-fake
It discusses how a politician has paid for over 800,000 fake twitter accounts to make it look like he is popular.

When you read how some web service has millions of "people" signing up per day.. There's a good chance that almost all of those accounts are fake accounts creating by bots for various purposes, all bad.  The incentives are completely one sided for this kind of thing -- the companies make money from the fake accounts, and the services get the benefit of looking popular and trendy.  There is no incentive to not inflate the account numbers wildly and look the other way while it happens.

The built-in calc function got replaced by a plugin called fcalc, which still works well:
https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=8769.0

And then there is another calculator plugin which may be a little bit more tricky to set up but has some advanced features (like letting you create your own functions in javascript), and that's the one in czb's plugin pack: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=17153.0

  • [MinorFeature] You can now reselect the last selection region location (see Edit menu); useful for selecting same area in multiple files, or reselection region after an undo.

« Last post by mouser on August 01, 2011, 08:52 AM »
I haven't changed anything - you should still be able to extract as normal.  Try renaming it so that the extension is .zip and then try extracting.

I don't know too much about memory, however.. i have 2 sticks in the pc already and i'm guessing that new memory should be similar.

The memory i have now is two sticks of:
OCZ2T800C42G
2gb each stick, PC2-6500U DDR2-400

So i'm thinking i should have 6400 not 5300.. though i really don't know about these things.

General Software Discussion / Re: alternative to filehamster?
« Last post by mouser on July 31, 2011, 08:06 PM »
Regarding AutoVer, I'm definitely going to try it soon, but posts about version 2 beta on their forum made me feel like i should wait a bit.

Right now i've uninstalled FileHamster and I'm using the new file monitoring and versioning ability added to Super Flexible File Synchronizer, an excellent backup/synchronization tool which has been written about before.  It seems to be working well, and is convenient since I already use SFFS for normal backing up (mirroring) other folders on my system.

Glad you like the new features jeme! Sorry for the delayed reply.
I agree a stack position indicator would be useful.. But its a bit tricky and i'm afraid there are some other requests higher in the todo list that i'm afraid it will never get done, so i wouldn't hold you breath for it.

As for your other comments about powerpasting type modes.. It's not that i can't see logic of them.. I can see in very specialized scenarios benefiting from such intricate pasting operations.. I', just afraid that once again it's such specialized stuff that it's probably better for me to concentrate on improving the things in CHS that are used constantly that still need improvement.

It sounds like maybe it's an issue with getting information about a non-text clip..

Let's not worry about subsequent behavior after that error, since that is probably enough to stop the program from working.

If you exit the program and restart it, do you still get that error on startup?

If so i will send you a new version to test -- email me ([email protected]).

You might also try unchecking the "Capture Images from Clipboard" in the Image Capture tab, and restart -- and see if that solves the error; if so at least we will have a clue about the problem.

Ok so no one has an unused mac mini sitting on the shelf.. so if i go the virtual-macosx route, i'm going to need more ram..

Does anyone have 4-8gb of ddr2 desktop ram (in 2gb or 4gb sticks), sitting unused in a box somewhere that they might be willing to send along?

Would be nice if those who got the decks took photos of them playing it.

I want to send a deck of CodyCards (with instructions on how to play of course) to meet up with Baby Cody so they can travel with him wherever he goes.  I think it would be a fun addition.

I'm ready to send them.. Should i send them to fenix or to the next upcoming recipient? (will probably take 7-12 days to arrive).

Anyone tried this yet? Any feature requests?

Yes, by timing i meant refresh frequency.

To be honest I've never really noticed a difference between vga and dvi connections to a monitor, but after reading this i will make sure to avoid using vga connections when possible.
