Yep that did the trick. Ran as Admin and did not receive any error messages. Paused playback, closed, opened and voila, back to the spot I paused at.
-wetsmellydog (July 17, 2014, 08:03 AM)

Great to hear and I'm glad I was able to anticipate your future Trout needs.  Hahahaha.   :P

Thanks for all your help as always.
-wetsmellydog (July 17, 2014, 08:03 AM)

You are very welcome.  I'll mark this thread as solved.
1303
If I click the stop button, it does not remember where I was. The progress bar clears back to zero. If I hit the pause button and close, it does not remember where I was. Now I am getting an error when closing "Error saving list contents". (Windows 7). I received the error both with and without the resume box being checked.
-wetsmellydog (July 17, 2014, 12:41 AM)

Either run Trout with administrator rights or run it from a folder that is not UAC protected.  Once you do that, try the resume playback feature again.
1304
I just downloaded the current version and found the programmable skip feature. Works like a charm!
-wetsmellydog (July 16, 2014, 11:33 PM)

Ah, great.  =]

One other feature that I did not think about but just thought of as I was trying out Trout again, is a bookmark feature to resume where the podcast left off.
-wetsmellydog (July 16, 2014, 11:33 PM)

Trout has a Resume playback on startup option which remembers the last position.  Maybe that is enough for your needs?
1305
1) Can you post or PM me the actual string you have?
2) What do you want the app to do/display?
1306
I am not sure if this would be a simple addition to the Trout player.
-wetsmellydog (July 16, 2014, 09:43 PM)

Well, now you have me thinking.  Currrently, in Trout, you can set a custom seek jump interval and then use the corresponding skip forward and skip backward buttons.  Is that good enough?
1307
I am not sure if this would be a simple addition to the Trout player.
-wetsmellydog (July 16, 2014, 09:43 PM)

Nah, this will be a standalone file player (based on my Looper app)
1308
Okay, so, what do you want this app to display?  Just the actual key?  So far, I have this using a mock reg key I added with RegEdit.

@questorfla: Can you PM me a screenshot showing this key in RegEdit?  I just want to make sure of a few things...

One thing i've noticed.. everytime i restart windows the icon (sun, rain, etc.) always disappear from the tray.. back to the "Only show notifications" status. The temperature one is always there on the tray without problems
-NunoEspadinha (July 16, 2014, 01:03 PM)

When it does this, what happens if you choose the Options > Reset tray icon positions from the menu?

BTW.. it would be a good idea to put a link for this forum at the Help tab (for example)
-NunoEspadinha (July 16, 2014, 01:03 PM)

In the Help > About box, there is a Forum button.

Unless I misunderstand you, in Windows Explorer, right-click the column header area and enable the "Date created" column.  Sort away.
1313
I can do this one.
1314
I contacted scancode and he said he's in the process of rewriting this application in C#.

If I have to run a script for each character to be replaced, then that is what I will have to do.

One of my absolute favourite renamers is ReNamer because it allows you to build out a list of steps to take when renaming files.  So, you could make a step-by-step list of rules to make the changes you need.  It has full preview mode so you can be certain exactly what's going to change to what.

I just had a look at the author's website and he's changed up the older fully-featured version to a Lite/Pro license model.  The Lite version is limited to five rules but it ought to be enough to see if you and the application will get along.   :D  Then, you can decide if you want to buy it (it's only ~$20).  I have an older, unlimited version but I'm going to go ahead and buy the new version.

Hm, tested here on W7/x64 with Aero theme, and it updates the numbers in the tray every time I change in my list of ~6 locations. Can this be related to having just 2 locations in the list ? (the off-by-1 anomaly)

Thanks, Ath.  Yeah, this is the maddingly frustrating thing about this issue...how sporadic it is.  >:(  I have over 70 locations in my list and I've never experienced the issue.

Hi, NunoEspadinha, and welcome to DonationCoder.

When i change the location to Lisbon and then back again to Dubai, normally the icon changes but not the temperature in the tray. It'll stay reflecting the Lisbon temperature still...
-NunoEspadinha (July 05, 2014, 06:09 AM)

I have seen this happen on my wife's computer (W7/64) but I don't experience it on my computer (W7/64) nor did I see it when I ran XP.  Frustratingly, I've never been able to track down WHY this happens so sporadically.  I've debugged the hell out of this issue and I'm 99.9% certain that the code is fine.  I have a hunch it's due to some Windows 7 tray icon handling bug or something.  As you have found, you can have better luck using certain tray temperature themes (try the Simple White and Simple Black).  Also, if you don't mind, could you switch over to the Windows Classic theme and see if the problem persists?  I use the Classic theme whereas my wife does not.

Second question: Normally temperatures here go easily above 40 degrees Celsius, but the "tray temperature" it seems to stop around 38/40... never shows the 43 our 44 (for example). The tray temperature does not refresh (will attach a Print Screen).. probably it's the same problem as in my first question. I don't know.. It changes to the current temperature if i choose a different font color
-NunoEspadinha (July 05, 2014, 06:09 AM)

I'm pretty sure this issue is caused by or, at least, related to the issue above.  Again, frustratingly, I don't see the issue on my computer.

For the record, it seems to work fine on my W7/64 system.

Anybody here ever tried to do the same?

  • I still have graph paper from elementary school where I drew designs and wrote out all the commands for Apple Logo on the Apple ][.
  • I still have working floppy disks of programs I wrote as a kid (as far back as an old Atari 130XE) and in school (Pascal & VB).  I recall in high school naming all my programs after fighter jets.  *snort*
  • I also still have pages and notebooks of maps, notes, etc., I wrote whilst playing computer and console games.  For instance, I drew out every dungeon in Phantasy Star on graph paper.  This was long before the internet and gaming FAQ sites.   :P

Not sure if anyone has suggested it yet but wouldn't this be a perfect app for a smartphone?

Yeah, probably, though,  I've never done any mobile development.

Hi, Fgkl99, and welcome to DonationCoder.

it would be nice to implement the ability to select multiple rows together.
It is very difficult to select hundreds of lines separately

Please try the new version and see if that is what you had in mind.  Also, don't forget that there are "Check all rows" and "Uncheck all rows" toolbar buttons.

v1.2.2 - 2014-07-02
+ Added Ctrl+S hotkey for saving.
+ Added "Check selected" and "Uncheck selected" items to the context
      menu.  (Thanks, Fgkl99)
    * Changed the "Clear list" toolbar icon to a broom icon.
