But I cannot paste it as formatted text again - Ctrl+V just pastes it as plain text.
ah you caught me.  i can add an option to fix that.  right now it uses the clipboard to sanitize it and leaves the plaintext on it.  i could use a different technique.

Does this new alpha version support retaining the full "layout" on the other hand (so that it makes sense to add a hotkey to paste as plain text only)? *g*

not yet, but it is coming.

that's why it only makes sense to have this hotkey work for the last clip, which still has multiple formats since its managed by windows when you hit ctrl+V.

The new alpha includes new options to:
  • redirect stdin and stdout instead of working from files (see new sample perl file -- you MUST include lines in your perl to flush stdout!)
  • ignore output -- useful if your tool doesn't modify text but launches some action
  • pass cliptext itself on commandline (only useful if its short!)

There is a new customizable hotkey in CHS alpha to paste the last clip as plaintext.

hmm.. what i said was, i wasn't sure if it got enough traffic to deserve a section move, but let's have a trial move and see how it does, before possibly being banished back to the nether regions of the forum.

I have multi-line text clips

thats the problem -- it looks like the current code is working in line-mode, operating at line boundries and not matching multi-line stuff.  i will make it an option. stay tuned.

you should be able to do this from the search+replace tab using regular expressions.

but it still might be something worth adding since it seems like it might be a pretty common thing people want to do.

« Last post by mouser on October 15, 2011, 08:00 PM »
I actually already have one.  Got it cheap through StartSSL which I reviewed for their great services here.

I tried using it on one of my programs and it was very annoying to do, and it didn't seem to have any real benefit so i stopped using it.

But i could start again i suppose.

If i ever fall on my head and try to do something evil with this site -- I request -- nay, I demand -- that all of you hardcore DC members rise up in rebellion and attack it until it dies.  That should be some protection against that ever happening :)

We may experiment with ads again one day, we may experiment with different systems for the free license keys, commercial licenses, etc. who knows (I'm keen to try the idea i suggested on this thread, of making two user-chooseable paths, one for those commercial types who want to buy, and one for donators or freeware users) -- but the core of the site will always be an embrace and advocacy of the donationware concept -- of users deciding how much they want to pay.  The domain name demands it.

We're all of us free to start new projects, new websites, new organizations, etc., but DonationCoder has carved out a space and i'm happy with where it is.

I actually don't like the guidelines, I'd like to see an option to choose the new guidelines or the old crosshair.

i could make it an option if some people prefer the old way.  Can you say why you prefer the old way?

And then the dialog practically begs the user to delete the dangerous file.

Here we go again.

This is an absolutely outrageous unacceptable message, just as bad if not worse than the false positive fiasco in the antivirus world.

You cannot go telling people that you think a download could harm their computer without any basis for doing so.

If you want to tell people that "Hey i've never seen this program so i'm not going to vouch for it's safety" that's fine.

But you just cannot tell people downloading a file "this could harm your computer" just because the program hasn't passed some mystery f*cking qualification.

This is how these big guys play this game -- they know they don't have to worry about their software being marked as harmful so they don't give a damn if they scare people away from independent developer stuff.

IE should be avoided like the plague until they fix this.  Absolutely outrageous.

Please complain loudly and share this information widely -- these companies cannot be allowed to keep playing this game of scaring the life out of users every time they find a file that hasn't made it to some "approved" software list that the big companies control.

PROTEST LOUDLY -- this is not ok.

Once again Microsoft seems absolutely hell bent on destroying their reputation and running their company into the dirt.

what about identifying the region then doing transforms on it, such as skew, rotate, etc so you can, for example end up capturing a diamond shape instead of an entire rectangle?

i'm going to draw the line here -- in such cases it's always better to just FIRST do a simple capture -- and then manipulate from within the program, where the program has access to all features like undo, save, etc.
