Well, I've done a custom text processing app a couple of years back (in fact, exactly 5 years ago today I released version 1.0.0.0...): ScriptLineCounter

It is quite complex to grasp at first, and poorly documented, so do read the linked DC thread, but it may be of help/interest to you 8)
Running to try.

For doc word documents or txt files ?
I know this is not an easy question because after a time I come back to make the question again....

Yes. For me is solved.

I am downloading videos about find and replace with windows.
Those options are equal.
Seems that you can use the special characters individually, not mixing.

I use freemind too.
I don't hate Java, but usually is more unconfortable because some addons like the often folders . Java has its own explorer o something.

I would like other freeware windows and better is offline.

Holy crap...that taskbar! :P

Anyway, with special character they mean here: characters that Word isn't showing you (when you use the default Word settings).

The ASCII table knows about a lot of characters, including the common ones you use to type texts in Word. Word uses a lot of the characters outside the standard ASCII table range to mark where certain features start and stop inside a Word document.

If you are familiar with those, you can quickly add or remove these features with one or more search-n-replace actions in several Word documents at once.

Word can show you where those special characters are used inside a document by enabling this option in the ribbon interface. That option will help you to get familiar with these special characters.
But have you tried ?
I am going to enable this in the ribbon and comment.
Actually when inserting these codes are not recognized by word 2010. I only get if is a replace the literal expression.

If I put ^s that is precisely what  I got replaced.

It's the inverted P ?

I supposed the special character is to be inserted in the old and new values in the program.

I am trying

WTR

I don't understand the use of "Insert special character" because I don't see effects.
Can you try to see what happens ?

 :-*

The program seems, as wordpipe, a powerful tool to replace string in several word documents and others.

It seems codes but when apply only appear the literally content in my case.

I need a script to :

1) Store a set of strings to be found in a word document. (and the number of lines to collect...)
2) Find those strings in the word document selecting the entire paragraph (several lines usually) associated and saving to a csv file.

The string always begin in an unique way , but the content may vary from one case to another. That's why i need to scan the file.

I need an array of data.

Is it possible ?

 :-*

It's like a collector of keys in a word file.
We can edit the csv file later and establish other connections....

For this reason DC is an extraordinary forum.

I have found several I can try.
Replace Genius
Word Fisher . And old traduction program with a trial free forever. At least I find a name and password for that. I have to try if true.
VBA Find and replace. Is an utility to find and replace in word documents.
CR GREP This java program promises to be powerful, but I need help to install
Funduc Word Search and replace freware.
Codeplex Find and Replace.

In the paid scene there are also trials . The most powerful seems to be able to read strings in pdf, word, etc.

But the point is that they are able to read in certain parts of a word document : header, footer, in comments, etc.

I am trying Replace Genius with a standard word document of 60 pages, with other documents inserted, goldmine fields, excel tables incrustated, jpg inserted and vinculated documents .

Until the moment Replace Genius goes well to my purpose.

PowerGREP and WordPipe seems to be very powerful.

CRGrep promises to be equal power of powergrep and wordpipe and seems freeware.

So I will put a consultation in the snack forum asking for help to install.
Seems need java and comes with a bat file.
Also have instruccions I don't understand.

Best Regards

Ath told me in the snacks forum that CRGrep is a powerful utility searching, but no replace option. So became useless to my purpose.

Thanks Ath

I will answer in a few days to Asus because they put me two links (one with the microsoft list of suspended and hybernations states s0 to s5) (supposing i am a clever man) with the passmark link to test the possibilities.
I have done nothing until the moment.

I am having a problem on my Win7 machine that I never had on my XP machine.

I have 4 monitors.   Overnight the monitors (not the computer) go to sleep.

When they wake up, some of the windows that were open on the desktop jump/move around to different monitors and resize.

It's really quite annoying.

Windows 7, Nvidia modern graphics cards with up to date drivers.

Any ideas how I might stop this from happening? Short of turning off the monitor sleep power options?
i have now six monitors as commented in one of our posts.
I was talking with an Asus technician until boring.
The thing seems to be a limit in the operating system or something like that.

I have the problem when the pc goes into suspend state.
I am using the utility don't sleep.

The "thing" is no finished yet. I download the utility Sleeper because the Asus Technician told me about the diffente ways or modes to suspend.

This was a month ago. Now I usually don't suspend the pc for not "lose" any monitor. I can lose 2, 4 or the 6 and need to reinitiate after any hybernation/suspension.

As I told you already, nobody can know which space to delete and which not.

Actually, so long as distorted text has extra spaces between ALL characters (which includes the space character), you can make this work.  Every real space will have two spaces instead of one so you can do it like this:

Code: Autohotkey [Select]
  1. #T:: ; Windows+T hotkey.  Change as desired.
  2. {
  3.     ; T h i s  i s  a  v e r y  s h o r t  s c r i p t  ; Sample of distorted text.
  4.     ;        ^^   ^^ ^^       ^^         ^^             ; Double spaces where single spaces should be.
  5.
  6.     Clipboard := "" ; Empty the clipboard.
  7.     Send, ^c        ; Copy selected text to the clipboard.
  8.     ClipWait, 2     ; Wait for text to be put on the clipboard.
  9.
  10.     ; Transform text.
  11.     myString := Clipboard
  12.     myString := StrReplace( myString, "  ", "§" ) ; Replace all double-spaces with a temporary section (§) character.
  13.     myString := StrReplace( myString, " ", "" )   ; Collapse remaining spaces.
  14.     myString := StrReplace( myString, "§", " " )  ; Replace temporary section (§) characters with a single space.
  15.
  16.     Clipboard := myString ; Copy new string back to the clipboard.
  17. }
  18. Return

Contro, give the above AHK code a try and see if it works for you.  Again, this will only work if each real space is actually two spaces when your text is distorted.
Yes. That is exactly my case in this moment.

I will try and comment

I am doing something wrong. The hotkey don't obey me. I change T for U, but my problem continues.

Assuming the scenario skwire mentioned and you're using an editor that allows Search/Replace in selected text (and RegEx expressions) you could use:
Search: ( )(\S)
Replace: \2

Just make sure you only run through once otherwise it will remove all spaces on the second pass ... but then that's what Undo is for  :P

Although, you could just select each spaced out word and run the RegEx replace.
Running to try.
May be the best in short works and better the ahk script for intensive changes if necessary.

Couldn't this be done with "Find and Replace"?

  • Select the text you want to modify.
  • Do a search for " "
  • Do a replace for ""
  • Done.
It's a good answer just because I can select the precise text I need to transform.
Not the spaces between words, one word once a time.
May be a manual solution, but goes well and is better than modify everything by manual.

1274

I know the answer. But I keep trying : I want other answer !!!!!

1275
Delete one space between letters in distorted text lines .

The target is select the text we want to transform and apply the measure.
