Living Room / Re: online superfast incremental search dictionary

Nice idea - combined with Google's Suggest (Beta) (just type 'car' in http://www.google.co...complete=1&hl=en if you don't know it) it would be awesome!

And, separate issue, grrrr, I just erased my entire posting by hitting escape, a reflex from "vi".
Something to capture/restore what "esc" erases.
-Grizzly Bear (March 04, 2006, 02:18 PM)
I can't help with your request, but you should complain to ANYONE using ESC for anything BUT close, empty, leave, discard, delete, disable, etc.

Besides, ESC does not cause my browser to delete this posting while I'm writing it. If my browser would do it, I'd use AutoHotkey to stop that ASAP ;)

Now, if I just had the time and energy to contribute to the Forums...
You could also help with a donation every now and then and of course by spreading the word: https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1463.0

By the way, are you using one of skrommel's many coding snacks already? https://www.donation...m/Software/Skrommel/

IMPORTANT! Changes are Coming in March
The end of March will mark our one year anniversary (hooray)!
Congrats! http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/9089/animatedgifcheerleadersmiley5b.gif

I believe there'll be a special anniversary thread later this month, so I'll won't say too much about how much I like DC here :)

Truely amazing... and I'm not even a gamer!  8)

Ah, I see... because of that, I did set up a hotstring that I can paste in my file manager and it will immediately go to my screenshots folder - which I'm having sorted by date, so the last screenshots (which I usually want to upload) are at the top.

AutoHotkey - again

an image upload tool for sites like imageshack etc.
I'd live that. I've tried to configure one utility like that a few times, but had no luck
But according to https://www.donation...index.php?topic=2088 you are using the ImageShack QuickLoad - no? Or do you want to do something different?

Good idea!

Kinda related:

Traces of a carcinogenic chemical have been found in soft drinks at eight times the level permitted in drinking water, it was revealed last night. There is a legal limit of one part per billion of benzene in British drinking water. The latest tests revealed levels of up to eight parts per billion in some soft drinks

new extension: "SiteAdvisor - or do YOU like spam, spyware, & safety threats?" --> https://www.donation...index.php?topic=2624

http://www.siteadvisor.com/

digg said:
SiteAdvisor is testing all Web sites for spam, spyware, & safety threats. You browse and search as normal and their empirical data (green=good, yellow=caution, red=bad) appears in an icon in IE or Firefox & next to results in Google, Yahoo, & MSN. Every site gets its own site details page w/ in-depth analysis. They launched a slick redesign today.

They say:

Sounds like a really, really great idea!

SiteAdvisor currently works with Internet Explorer and Firefox.

I will link to this thread from the Firefox extension thread too.

I'm not sure I can fully understand what you want, but maybe the great http://www.prall.net/tools/colorcop/ could already help you?

I noticed another problem, which only appears after some time (had that problem with PS Tray Factory too). There are parts missing - of the white-on-green AutoHotkey "H", of WebMon's Planet Earth icon above that and of Locate's tray icon on the left side of that:

Wow, great find!

I added its path plus /QUIT to IdleMute and it's working perfectly!

I don't know how to thank you, jgpaiva.
Only 2 of 152 ideas here:
- you could donate a few bucks to jgpaiva - just click the $ below his nick
- and you could donate money to the AutoHotkey project (click here) - which made this all possible

Post New Requests Here / Re: DONE: Dim the taskbar (set transparency)
« Last post by brotherS on March 02, 2006, 01:44 AM »
Nice, enabling/disabling works now more reliably for me! :)

The "blurry icon effect" has been reduced too, happens not that often anymore - I could live with that.

But the video-in-full-screen-mode bug is still there :(
I'm not sure the "check for maximized windows" approach is the best solution possible - this would cause your app to disable itself also when I run the browser as a maximized window (which I often do for hours).

:) Check the latest version of IdleMute at www.donationcoder.com/Software/Skrommel. It sports a second timer that kicks in after x minutes of inactivity after the initial ilde mute.
Great idea!

Now all I need is a command/exe to close Winamp in a clean way - any idea?

Post New Requests Here / Re: DONE: Dim the taskbar (set transparency)
« Last post by brotherS on March 01, 2006, 01:16 PM »
Thanks, it's a bit better, but

- clicking the icon once changes it slightly and set/removes the "Enabled" checkmark in its menu, but doesn't always really enable/disable it

- I still get the blurry taskbar effect :(

- I still get a black screen in Zoom Player (in full-screen mode) when FadingTaskbar is already running... when I start Zoom Player first and only THEN FadingTaskbar it works. Maybe add some check for full-screen apps? Or make it disable itself when certain processes (customizable by the user) are running?

And please read your private forum messages :)

What's the Best? / Re: Anti-Virus Package
« Last post by brotherS on March 01, 2006, 11:18 AM »
I've been using CA ezAntivirus for more than a year. It's rock solid and low on resources.
I, too, had been using CA's eTrust EZ Antivirus for about a year - license did run out ~10 days ago and while I couldn't decide whether I should buy one or two more years of their service or change my Anti-Virus program LuckMan212 came along with this nice thread...

Freeware

avast! Home v4.6
BN rating: [4.6/5.0]
Pros: very low resource usage, very stable.  one of the only free AVs with x64 support.
Cons: slightly cluttered GUI.

...which made me uninstall CA's program and install avast! So far I'm very pleased, it updates itself daily and has quite a few nice option to set it up to your needs.

It's low on resources too.
