I try to keep off notifications in general.  But of course I want to see Screenshot Captor's....

Or, as stated at outset, a message that capture was successful.

It was wise of mouser to put in the "Invoke" capability.  Terrific option to have available.

For some weird reason the balloon never comes up on my system.  Thus the request. (Possibly such messages/notifications are turned off by Windows?)

I want to use the "Invoke" the command (see mouser's screenshot above) to run the tiny program to show message on screen, say, for around three seconds.  Just to make sure.

I use a screen capture program from this site. 

Issue is: Not sure the screen capture actually happened.

Request: Small program to show temporary message on screen.

Time to show message: Around 3 seconds.

Message: Capture successful.

Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Appears Mathematica can do this, just about as well as any other way:

Tuples[{a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u,
   v, w, x, y, z}, 3]

So, next part of the question is how to move FOLDERS into those created subdirectories.  If first three letters of folder matches, move into the appropriate new subdirctory.

Example:

Existing folder is c:\abcdefg

Move said folder (and contents, of course) into c:\abc

Should be simple DOS command move c:\abcdefg c:\abc

Unfortunately, works for files.  Not folders....

Another matter arises when existing folder has only one or two characters.  Like c:\ab.

Brainstorming here before searching elsewhere for solutions.

Suppose we want to create the following folders:

c:\aaa
c:\aab
c:\aac
.
.
.
c:\baa
c:\bab
.
.
.
c:\zzx
c:\zzy
c:\zzz

If you following my drift, a-z in first column.  a-z second.  a-z third.

Total new subdirectories = 26*26*26 = 17,576

How might one go about accomplishing this?

(After doing the preceding, then time to move folders appropriately....  I'll turn to that later, perhaps.)

Thoughts appreciated.

If only.  Yes, in a small set of mp3 files, Explorer can show a column of bitrate values.  But in larger collections Explorer chokes.  One has to 'page down' for all the files, and even then....

Before I try on actual collection I'll give it a few days to see if it works for others, or if you decide to make any refinements.

Excellent point, Skwire.  That may be the reason why no such program seems to exist out there.

Request still stands, however.  I'd really like to be able to do as I ask.

You did something similar with image files.  Auto sorting into folders by dimension.

Looking for a way to sort/organize mp3 files in a folder into a set of folders by bitrate:

320 kbps mp3s --> appropriate folder named "320"
192 kbps mp3s --> appropriate folder named "192"
etc.

Any thoughts appreciated.

100,000 .mp3 files -- intermixed with other formats, such as .flac -- in a giant tree structure.  Branches of trees are "Artist" and "Album".

I wanted to move ONLY the .mp3 files to another drive, leaving .flac, etc., where they are.

As you've said, a myriad of programs out there to do it.  Such as xcopy, robocopy, richcopy.

Thought it best to use a gui program, to see more clearly what's about to happen... before pressing go.

Seems all files are placed into single folder.  Original nested folders as well.  No mirrored folders appear to be created.

Is there a way to copy the original folder structure, too?

Thanks Chris and wraith808.  Using Excel does seem a viable option.  Able to copy/paste, or import, into a single column.  Then Ctrl-Click to highlight cells, as needed.  Hit delete -- which leaves blank cells.  All good.

And, no, haven't yet decided which ones to delete.  Need to look over, review, maybe another time as well.

Suppose one has a long list of names, one after another, in a text file.

One wishes to delete a number of those.

The standard text editor will only allow you to delete one at a time, unless they are contiguous in the list.

Looking for a program that will allow 'marking' various rows, to then subsequently delete them.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks for the lead, sphere.  I'd prefer to not need any user intervention.  Set once, forget it.

I noticed there are many Java countdown timers out there.  Android apparently is built on Java.  Wonder how hard it would be to use existing Java code, and make a tiny Android ap as requested.

Lots of Android countdown timers out there, but not what I want.

The one below comes close:

Here is what it lacks, that I'd really like to have:

-- Save user-defined/adjustable default countdown amount.  (20 minutes)

-- Start counting down as soon as program runs, no user intervention needed.

-- Make sure program can be scheduled to run on device (tablet) start.

-- Allow for playing whatever 'sounds' are available in system.  (series of beeps)

-- If possible, pause the existing music being played (AIMP), and after sounding (beeping for 3 to 5 seconds), allow music to resume.

-- When alarm goes off, don't require any user intervention.  Just close and disappear.

No need for any other bells and whistles.

mouser, if you are up for it, too, would be super to have a small window open on screen to say "Capture Successful", and to go away after a few seconds.

That's true, as well, with regular capture.  Never can be certain that a capture was actually made.

If only.  Hmmm.

Pop-up dialog still pops up.  And stays up, screen center.

Normally, as said, it's best to have that pop-up window show itself, just to be certain that a capture was indeed made.  Then I click on "Save image but hide".

My normal setting is:
 
Preferences -->
The Basics -->
Interface Options -->
After Capture Show -->
PopUp Choice Dialog

However, if I want to automatically inconspicuously make a capture, I don't want any pop-up.  No interaction.  Other than command line batch file executing.  Please.

So, if there can be a way of over-riding, via command line, that would be ideal.
