N.A.N.Y. 2012 / Re: NANY 2012 Pledge Teaser: Web Link Captor, aka LL Robot
« Last post by mouser on November 25, 2011, 06:23 PM »
Update: The first set of PYTHON alpha backend scripts for LLRobot is complete and working.

So it looks like this is going to be at least cross-platform in the backend code (I'll probably write a windows-only GUI front end as part of NANY to make it easy to use).

Screenshot Captor / Re: [Feature Request] Toggle Delay On and Off Hotkey
« Last post by mouser on November 24, 2011, 10:27 PM »
So when you toggle it on it would pop up with balloon text saying something like. "Timer Delay is now on. Delay is set to x"

thats a good idea -- and i was thinking earlier to change the icon when in delay capture mode.

seems like a reasonable idea.. so maybe the hotkey would toggle on delay and start capturing, or toggle it off if on?

There is no hotkey for it, BUT you can toggle it from the system tray.
12356
Hmm.. that's troubling.. i shall try to fix assuming i can reproduce.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: suggestion about showing
« Last post by mouser on November 24, 2011, 02:23 PM »
Hi Li-An, welcome to the site.  I'm glad you like the program.
Can you elaborate a little more what you are saying -- there is a down arrow showing you what to click to change the button.  Are you saying you want it to be easier to see/choose? Or?

Coding Snacks / Re: Image Tile Joiner
« Last post by mouser on November 24, 2011, 01:36 PM »
That is actually a good idea, this is not the first time I see someone trying to arrange images in a grid. I guess it should be my NANY this year.

YES YES YES!!

There are many times when this would be useful -- it comes up often in screenshotting -- when you take a few images and would like to combine them in a strip or a grid, etc.

Vlastimil,

I hope you will consider one day making an interactive image tiler tool -- you have the skills and background for it.

Ideally it would let people arrange images easily by dragging and dropping them to form grid-like arrangements easily.

Happy thanksgiving to all.  I am so grateful for this community.  You guys and gals (and cody) are like a second family for me.  You make life more fun and enjoyable.  I'll be here over thanksgiving for anyone who wants to share some virtual tofu turkey.

« Last post by mouser on November 23, 2011, 08:12 PM »
actually i should collect a list of users who are willing to help test the new scrolling capture.
so anyone willing to help test the new upcoming scrolling capture system, post on this thread saying so.  maybe seeing a list of users will help motivate me.

hpearce,
there are a lot of confusing things on the site -- if someone posts out of frustration here, we should try our best to be helpful.

since this is our home here we might feel tempted to get mad at people who come in and post something negative.. but we have to remember to view the site also through the eyes of someone who has come to the site for the first time and is not used to the way we do things.

I have figured out exactly how I will do the new scrolling capture -- it's a complete rewrite, but I have everything I need now to code it.  And I think it will exceed everything people are wanting.. I just have to set aside a week or so to code it..

that's not a bad idea at all. i will try to add it.

Glad you like it -- and for anyone who every tried LBC sliding/hiding docks in the past and found the unhiding behavior erratic, i hope you'll try it again -- it works quite well now.  And you can now use a hotkey to force normally hidden bars on and off, which is nice.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Version 1.129.01 Still "Steals Focus"
« Last post by mouser on November 22, 2011, 10:26 AM »
I had forgotten about this bug -- ok let's try to fix it once and for all.
Can you send me an email ([email protected]) so I can maybe send you a debug version to test.
The biggest thing is for me to try to be able to reproduce it reliably.

Does LBC still focus from all programs, or just some like MS Word?  can you tell me what options you have set in the topmost Options tab, and if any of those options make a difference regarding this behavior.  Any clue that would help me pinpoint what triggers this misbehavior would help, since i can't seem to reproduce it here.

If you disable the "keep launchbars on top" option, does the problem go away?

Big update of fixes, especially for people who use multiple docks, multimonitor, or sliding/hiding docks:

v1.129.01 - November 21, 2011
  • [BugFix] When using multiple docks, all but first dock would fail to remember the monitor it was docked on.
  • [BugFix] When minimizing docks to the system tray, docks could forget which monitor they were docked to, or whether they were docked or floating.
  • [BugFix] Floating docks could sometimes change size or monitor when docked and undocked.
  • [MinorFeature] When clicking on a dock that is minimized to the tray (left or right click), a second click will toggle the menu off.
  • [MinorFeature] You can now set custom screen popup location for hotkey triggered menus (overiding default of popping up under mouse cursor)
  • [MinorImprovement] Improved help for resizing docks.
  • [Feature] If you try to launch multiple instances of LBC you will now get a message saying so, the second instance will exit, and the first instance options will be shown.
  • [Feature] If you now use the hotkey to toggle visibility of hidden/sliding docks, they will STAY visible until you toggle them back into their hide/slide mode with hotkey again.
  • [Feature] You can now customize the hide and unhide delays for hidden/sliding docks.
  • [BugFix] The hittests for revealing Hidden/Sliding docks was ignored pixels near extreme sides of screen, which could result in dock not appearing when mouse was over it.
  • [MinorFeature] New program icon by HamRadio.
  • [MinorImprovement] Improved installer and default dock (especially for win7)
  • [BugFix] Fixed crash that could occur when closing a file from three that was already showing a launchbar on screen, or deleting such a dock node.

ps. Next update should have some good new features.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Supressing FARR when a given exe/window has focus?
« Last post by mouser on November 21, 2011, 06:28 PM »
I could add an option to let people specify windows that should make farr ignore its hotkey trigger.
But i have an easier suggestion -- go to the hotkeys tab of FARR options, and DISABLE the ctrl+space hotkey permanently, and use the default Break key to bring up FARR.
12371
the move I mention only occurs if the active window is close to the screen edges

SC does that in order to capture transparency effects that can happen beyond screen borders.  you can disable SC from trying to do this in window capture options, but it is recommended if you want transparency captured properly.
12372
I should probably make it so SC returns focus to the last active window -- but the truth is that the best way to use this function is NOT to trigger it from the system tray icon or menu, but simply select the window you want to capture and then use the Screenshot Captor HOTKEY to trigger an active window capture.

N.A.N.Y. 2012 / Re: Pledge: Fentwiss (a simple calculator / converter)
« Last post by mouser on November 21, 2011, 12:39 PM »
Hey could we have a commandline invokable mode, where we can pass it a commandline and have it send it's output to stdout or save it to a file?  If so we could make a FARR alias for it..
12374
how did you activate the "grab active window" command? by hotkey or by menu?

the way grab active window works is you are supposed to activate the window you want to capture, then trigger the grab active window capture by hotkey.

(by the way i'm going to move your question to it's own thread in this section)

you can already use all of them in virtual folder sql.. i just have to post the list of the real field names (as opposed to column labels).
