A suggestion:

Maybe people can try to come up with an "origin" story (like a superhero's origin story) for how Cody came into existence, and see if Nudone can illustrate it as the new image.

Anyone care to try coming up with a strange and unique origin story for Cody?

Ideally I'd like the software to arrange photos so that after feeding in multiple sheets I just take the left hand stack and move it on top of the right hand stack and staple it.

Flipbook printer/suite was designed to handle these cases. The settings you want to play with are the checkboxes on the Print page labeled:
Stacked Printing and Down then Across

You certainly want to enable Stacked printing.
But also Down then Across may be what you need for that printer.

Let me know if it works.

ps.You should be able to avoid having to stack the piles after each sheet.

Please join with me in a virtual petition to loudly demand that DC member Nudone create us a new Cody image for this year's NANY.

With Baby Cody going on so many adventures lately, I'm afraid that normal Cody is feeling left out.

And while we still have lots of Cody images to recycle through, I can't help but feel that we need to beg, harass, hound, protest, and generally bully Nudone into drawing another Cody image soon, before he forgets how to do them completely.

So please join with me in occupying this space and demanding a new Cody image from Nudone within the next 30 days.

so let me understand how to reproduce:

you have lbc running in autoslide mode.. and its hidden off screen.

you start vlc, load a file, and start it playing. and you see no video.

is that right?

i cannot reproduce this behavior.  what version of vlc do you have? is it the latest version?

try again using a different browser (or clear your browser cache and download again).

very odd.. can you tell whats happening? do you have your LBC bar docked to the screen? if you minimize it and then start vlc, does it work ok?
see if you can narrow down when the problem happens..
does the problem happen only with vlc fullscreen?

i will try vlc here too and see if i can reproduce.

rj, i could use a little more help in understanding a test i can do to fix this.

your commandline arguements to spellcheck files make it hard for me to figure out.

can you give me a sample text, and a sample mtrw invocation that reads from stdin, writes to stdout, and tell me what i should see.  and that doesnt use any additional files like some spellcheck?

so tell me the original text, and then give me a commandline that when run reads from stdin, writes to stdout, and tell me what it produces.

then i can try to make chs work on it.

Stoic Joker has a very good point though -- if you use this method and save to PDF, and open the PDF files -- and go to the pdf file properties -- do they also say 8.5x11, or do they show the correct size?

In other words, is it only when you save as jpg that you have this problem?

There is actually a store behind this..

It *USED* to be that Alt+PrtScr defaulted to capturing the current active window in Screenshot Captor too..

BUT, pressing the alt key can cause the Menu bar of the current window to trigger -- sometimes just highlighting it oddly -- but in worst cased causing a menu to actually drop down.

That's why the new default for active window capture is CTRL+PrtScr.

But of course you can customize it -- which you already knew.

Hmm, interesting.  It should work fine but I must admit i've never tried printing on other than 8.5x11 BUT if i had to guess i'd say the problem was not with flipsuite/flipbook printer but with the virtual printer tools.  I will try it out and see if i get the same results.
