General Software Discussion / can any explorer alternative do this?
« Last post by kalos on April 17, 2012, 04:12 PM »
hello!

I saw in Windows Explorer of Windows7 a search field at the top right, that also searches inside the content of the files of the folder (even xls files, etc)

is there a similar solution for WinXP ?

thanks!

Mousinity

Description: Mousinity creates an infinity effect for your cursor when it reaches the edges of your screen. For example if you go to the top of your screen, your mouse will appear on the bottom, right-to-left, etc. This is especially useful for large screens.

Note that the program has no icon or taskbar item so when you want to close the application, run Mousinity again and select ‘yes’.

Download: Mousinity.zip
Version: V1.1.0.2
License: Freeware (personal use only)
Requirements: Window XP above.
Portable: Yes (Stealth)

interesting?

« Last post by kalos on April 14, 2012, 07:12 AM »
hello

from a little research I did, it seems MuPDF is the fastest rendering pdf library

however, its GUI is minimalistic in a bad way, it lacks everything apart its title bar

is there a MuPDF-based enhanced GUI ?

thanks!

$$$$

thanks, it looks powerful
but it doesnt seem to support filtering, only searching

I think there is nothing that can offer this, so now I am searching not for an outlook plugin, but for an email client that offers this

The excel is provided from the website that has the files / database, as well

It also contains much info in each row about that specific pdf

Ie. the excel is also a database and a sitemap

One purpose would be my request long time ago, to send colored pages to color printer and the black ones to b/w printer

But, moreover, now, and I have a program that outputs pdfs, and and if it has a colored element, and it means that it belongs to a certain category and must be treated specifically

For automation purposes in brief.. :)

I have the excel with some data
I will have to append at the beginning of the text of each cell in all rows of a specific column, and the http://domain.com/

Then, the created links must be automatically replaced with the paths of the linked files, after the files are downloaded locally

By this way, I we have a dynamically updated excel with the updated versions of the files from the server

I have an EXCEL file and I want to select some cells and append to the begining of the text of each of these cells another specific text (which is constant)

then, urls will be formed in these cells and I want to download the files that these urls point to and make the files open when I click the relevant cell

I'd like to have a game with this, got some examples?

also, what version of office are you using?

I use EXCEL 2003

an example would be a list of all these PDFs:

thanks

When you say "export as image" you mean to a file?  What kind?

yes, to a graphics file of any kind in My Documents folder or something

the different options "as shown on screen" and "as printed" would be nice to be available in the macro as well (just via different hotkey)

Does it store different versions of the files for backup and archiving purposes?

yes, a utility or any other way to inform me that the pdf is only black and white
it would be best not to have to open the pdf (since it will be a batch process and it must be fast and quiet)
also checking the colors of its pixels, may not be accurate enough

WYSIWYG web editing does not work as intended, imo

if you "build" an MS Word document, you do it in a WYSIWYG way, you don't code it
ofcourse the capabilities are very limited

WYSIWYG in web building, limits the capabilities as well, but it doesnt offer a trully easy way, like MS Word does :S

so, I would agree with you Stephen

I already use an WYSIWYG HTML editor

but I cant convert text to bold or red, easily, like in MS Word, I cant change the position of text blocks and graphics, easily, by draggind them, etc

what about grayscale, would that count?

I want to distinguish pdfs that contain black characters, lines, table borders, etc, from those containing any grayscale or other color apart from black and white

This isn't a one-click solution but you can do the same thing in Excel 2003.
Found this on Bright Hub How to Save an Excel Object as an Image
:o :o :o :o
omg, those people at Microsoft did this on purpose? this excellent feature is hidden in a way most could never imagine to trigger (ie. open a filemenu entry, while keep SHIFT pressed, does nothing in most GUIs)

thanks!
