In my senile old age I forget these things, but weren't you writing your own CMS "for programmers"? (Or am I confusing you with someone else?)
Presuming that was you, what led you to not use that for your own site?

I am working (hard!) on a website framework that is meant to serve as the foundation of custom user-driven websites -- and which could be used to build CMS/Blog/Forum systems.  It's tentatively named "YUMPS" and the discussion is here: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=27639.0

But there are a couple of reasons not to use it for DC:
  • It's not ready yet
  • If what DC needs is a fairly standard CMS, then the existing tools do a good job (my YUMPS project is not trying to build a "better" CMS, it's trying to build a framework that programmers can use to create custom sites that share characteristics of cms systems but don't cleanly fit into the cms category).
  • Who knows, one day DC might move to YUMPS anyway.

ps. Let's take any further discussion about YUMPS to that thread.

It sounds like your screenshot has transparent area.
Try choosing from the "Objects" top menu the choice "Merge Transparency Background", then save.
See if that helps.

ps. I'm going to move this to the Screenshot Captor section.

It sounds like you just want to release it as freeware -- free but no source code.  Sounds like a pretty standard freeware license.

Question:

Did you try running mobysaurus WITHOUT replacing the dll (i.e. with the original dll?)

I'm thinking maybe the trick is that on Win7, you DONT want the new dll and should use the original one?

Screenshot Captor / Re: SSC 3.03 hangs on some screen capture attempts
« Last post by mouser on April 01, 2012, 03:08 PM »
Firs thing first, if you do a selected region capture, pressing ESCAPE should cancel it.  If you ever encounter a case where ESCAPE does not cancel -- let me know and see if you can pinpoint something unusual about the circumstance -- like maybe a specific program running which might be intercepting keystrokes?

I see your point about wanting to clear the current image.. it's true there isn't really a way to do it -- mostly because there isn't much point to it -- anything you might want to do you can do whether there is an image showing or not.  At least that is what I believe, but this seems to contradict that:
But if I want to import / open an image from disk w/ SSC, while there's already an image in the editor screen, it doesn't replace the existing image.

Can you elaborate on this?

Appreciate the vote of confidence.. Just to head off a contentious thread before it starts -- it's safe to say different people have different needs -- try them both for yourself and stick with the one that is best for your needs.  Let's leave it at that.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Can't select object / region on some captured screens
« Last post by mouser on April 01, 2012, 02:10 PM »
On several screens for different apps, once in the SSC editor, in object select mode, I can use the cursor & dotted line of selection rectangle shows up, but when release the cursor, dotted lines for selected area disappear.

The selection rectangle works very different if you are in Object-selection mode (denoted by the right hand middle-vertical cursor button).  In that mode, when you drag with a rectangle selection it will select only OBJECTS within the region and not stay as a selected rectangle.  Toggle object mode by pressing that cursor button to go to normal region select.

The forum will stay (for now) as powered by SMF, and will not change.  The cms-transition will convert all of the currently-static pages to be cms pages, and put in place a software repository.  The idea is to make the main pages of the site easier to update and make it easier for others to manage different sections of the site (software directory, reviews, blogs, etc.)

By the way, do you think you'll be able to get donations through Amazon shortly?  If not, I'll just mail you a check.

We supported amazon for the longest time, then suddenly they sent me an email saying they have blocked our account because 1) they don't support "membership" clubs, and 2) because we offer lifetime guarantee.  Been impossible to get help from them after that.  I am still hoping that I can put up an alternative page that would allow people to "pay" through amazon as long as they are willing to think of it in their mind as a purchase without a lifetime guarantee  :-\

Yes.. Actually last week I finally chose a CMS platform to try to move DC too (Wordpress of all things -- yes i know it's more of a blog platform than cms platform, but it still seems like the way to go), and the idea is to move to that AND a proper software directory/repository this year, finally.

Fundraiser funds will help offset the time we spend transitioning, as always.

So are we funding the DC servers and community or some folks who are writing software for DC?

All of the above.  perhaps i should have said "help us keep trucking"

When you make a donation -- please feel free to send it to someone specific on the site who has posted something you found useful, whether thats a piece of software or some help on the forum.  A good place to look for people to send your donationcredits to is the NANY event, or skwire who has released a huge number of utilities over the last year, or even me for my software.

[the old fundraiser said "help us keep going" i think, but i didn't want it to sound like we were in danger of not surviving.]

A 28" monitor sounds really nice.. BUT if it were me, personal preference, I'd rather have two 21" monitors.

Note: I made the new "center on current cursor window" default, so people would discover the feature.  To disable and have FARR always remember where it was last shown, go to the Display Options tab and uncheck the relevant checkbox.

« Last post by mouser on April 01, 2012, 11:50 AM »
Hmm that is a bit hard to understand..

Could you try to narrow the issue down for me a bit?  it sounds to me like it might be trying to filter out results from www.txt using what you typed, and ends up filtering out all results.

One thing you might check is the "Result Filter For RegEx (Optional)" section of the alias.

If that doesn't yield any clues, perhaps you could experiment with some simpler versions of that alias, without a regex maybe or with different contents of www.txt?

Ok I think i'm narrowing it down.

Can you check for me -- if you repeat that process just do a normal PrtScr to capture the entire screen, do you get the error?
I.e. is it only when you do an alt+PrtScr for active window capture, that the problem occurs?

If it's really reproducible then I suggest what app suggests, that it sounds like a software issue.
I would post the exact error the next time it occurs, and post us the ctrl+alt+del process list sorted by highest Mem Usage.
There are other more detailed tools for showing use of system resources, but that would be a good start.

  • [Feature] New option to position FARR window centered on current monitor when triggered.
  • [Feature] For portable users, program now checks for ConfigDir_Default.ini if ConfigDir.ini not found; prevents your custom ConfigDir.ini file from being overwritten when unpacking portable distribution zip.
  • [Feature] For portable users, StartWithWindows option now starts unchecked on first use, if running in portable mode.
  • [Feature] ConfigDir.ini directory now supports environmental variable replacement, including %COMPUTERNAME%.

  • [Doc] Added note about excluding FARR from Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus for better performance.
