New version uploaded; sorry about the bug.

The bug was only affect upgraders on the first run of the new version.  No point re-downloading new version if you have 2.16.02 and have already restarted it.

New users were unaffected.

I told the the last person who reported this that they must have downloaded an earlier version, but your post seems to confirm that there is a bug in the latest version.  if you exit and restart the error message will probably be gone.  can you confirm that while i go hunting for the bug?

And can you tell me when the error occurs? At paste time?

This sounds like something DC member skwire codes up in his sleep in the Coding Snacks section..

Suggestion: Don't work on or use any tool that "MOVES" them, too much risk of messing up your data.
Just have it COPY them and then delete the old ones only after you are 100% sure it did what you wanted.

TapTap works in a completely different way -- TapTap runs in the background and detects things like double taps of keys and then simulates keypresses of other keys. SharpKeys changes registry settings to remap keys to each other.

ok all 3 points above should be considered bugs.. i'll try to fix; MiniCap is due for an update.

#2: note that normally you would tell MiniCap to save the file name on the commandline and not have it prompt you for one, so #2 shouldn't really come up.
#3: did you try the -printpreview option?

Sounds like you want MiniCap.
It's much more focused on starting quickly then exiting and not remaining running.

Give this a try and let me know how it works for you:

you can specify some commandline options for Screenshot Captor:
-maximize  -- maximizes window
-minimize  -- minimized window
-show  -- shows window if minimized
-scan -- initiates a scan
-capture CAPTURETYPE  -- initiates a screen capture (CAPTURETYPE = workspace|screen|activewindow|region|object|scanner)
-dir "FULLPATH"  -- switches screenshot directory to this page
-file "FULLPATH" -- switches to containing directory and opens specified file
-printnext  -- says to print the next capture/scan

ps.
If you don't want to leave Screenshot Captor running in the background you might try using its little brother, MiniCap instead of Screenshot Captor; MiniCap is all about commandline invocation.

If you want to trigger FARR with the CapsLock key, I suggest you use the SharpKeys utility; it will remap the CapsLock key to some other normal hotkey you can catch with FARR, and it's a great tool.

I need to revise this 5 year old post to say "YAY FOR SHARPKEYS!"

I have a laptop with a few non-standard special keys, and some extra copies of keys in the keypad area, but none of these can get captures by normal hotkey triggers.

I'm now using SharpKeys to map my CapsLock to a different catchable key, and remapping those useless keypad/numpad area keys to PrtScr and Break like keys, so I can easily trigger my FARR and Screenshot Captor applications.

Great stuff, thank you SharpKeys.

Ok so I don't have an answer but I may have another clue.
I'm guessing that that "code" is in fact a hex COLOR number.

My guess is that something (a hotkey) is causing an application (CHS suggests the culprit is irfanview?) to copy a pixel color hex code to the clipboard.

Occasionally, image clips taken by OneNote are lost and just an obscure code remains in the database.

Can you elaborate?  Are you saying that CHS successfully grabs and stores the image and you can see the image in CHS, but then the image gets removed and replaced with a text clip, or is that CHS should be capturing an image clip but is capturing text instead, or is something else happening.. I can't tell from the screenshots..  How do these clips get listed in the clip grid?  If you manually go view the image file folder, do you see the image clips there even though they aren't in the grid?

I don't have an answer to this, but until the author comes by i'll just give one quick piece of general advice.  If you ever have a program fail to save a file and give some error.

The first thing to do is go look in the directory where the file is stored and look for a backup file, and make copies of any potential backup or original files of the document before you do anything else.

Most importantly, don't try to resave the document until you do that.. You don't want to accidentally overwrite a good backup file with a copy of the broken file on subsequent save attempts.

I think it was just an older download.. You are describing a bug I encountered and fixed with the latest upload.. It may be that I'm misremembering when I uploaded the fix, or that a cache effect was giving you an older version.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll hear about it if other people experience it

Based on the date of this post I'm guessing you downloaded the latest version but can you make sure you have the latest download -- the problem you are describing was in the previous upload to the best of my knowledge and has been fixed before this latest release.

If you're still getting it, it means I must have not uploaded the latest version..

Yes, I was thinking of adding it in the latest version as it's on my todo list but I never got to it.
Let's discuss it now.

So are we thinking we want a menu item to completely wipe the database of *ALL* stored clips, or only from a certain group, or all but not those marked as favorites, etc.?
