I live in a 5th floor apt. Not sure if that might make a difference.
Could be a height problem alright - works fine here on the third floor.
I live in a one-story house, so I can't do much damage throwing something out the window.

oh, I just knew I could count on you guys to brighten up my day  :-* Thank you!

I started having that problem with Gizmo's Freeware a couple years back.

so did I. But I assumed it was because of my many addons for Firefox, so instead I subscribed to their email, and automated the use of Internet Explorer. But now I am on a new old computer, so I forgot.

I wonder if anyone has ever pointed this out to them.

I don't think anyone has; the Contact-page has no contact, only adverts.

So, I am not sure why any of you suspect this Rombertik is what is infecting the machine.

I think April is right. The infection described by questorfla, cannot be Rombertik.

Once again I want to throw something or even someone out the window. Because I live on the 7'th floor, this is usually not a good idea. So instead I beat the keyboard...:

I got the same email many of you also got today from Gizmo's Freeware a.k.a. TechSupportAlert, recommending a new article entitled "The Best List of Free Windows Security Software on the Web" ((formerly known as Probably the Best Free Security List in the World.))

Wow, what a title; I simply had to follow that link! So I clicked the http://..., (no s in http) but Firefox replaced the page with this error message "Content Encoding Error. The page can not be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression. Please contact the owners of the site around this problem.".

I have met this problem before, so I peacefully took a deep breath (in order to keep my monitor inside the apartment), and right-clicked the link to open in Internet Explorer 11, which had no problem opening the page. IE can also show the s version: https://..., but my Firefox will at best display a very crippled version, sometimes nothing.
What about your browser?  :tellme:

I like both Gizmo and Firefox, but I am truly disappointed:
  • What good is a browser that won't browse, a page that will not load, a list that will not list?

I actually came here to say that there is this list, and it is a really interesting read
# and you can have it with or without s #

http://www.techsuppo...urity-list-world.htm
https://www.techsupp...urity-list-world.htm

Announcements:

• May 9, 2015: Section "All Items" has been added to this page. It contains a link allowing you to view the entire list on a single page.

• Apr. 23, 2015: We have begun using an automated link checker to identify broken and redirected links. Broken links will be repaired if possible or else deleted. This has not begun yet.

• Apr. 15, 2015: This list was formerly known as Probably the Best Free Security List in the World. The list was split into many articles. Some keys were removed. Paid items were removed. All links, except for intra-list navigation links, should now open in a separate tab or window when clicked. The links in the Related Links section of this page have changed. Section Recently Deleted Items has been added to this page. Numerous formatting changes were made.

Found Deals and Discounts / Judy's TenKey (10Key) award-winning calculator

Judy's TenKey

There are all sorts of surprises. Some of them came via this little calculator of Judy's. I didn't know about it until it was offered to me for free, normal price $20, but it has been on the market for several years! Yet when I happened to stumble upon it and think this is finally a calculator to my liking, it seems to be abandoned! I don''t #know# if the entire company is dead and gone, but at least the link to support is dead. This is really sad, I think, because in my mind that Ziff Davis award was well deserved.

This is merely a twenty dollar program, for free, so I don't bother to tell a lot more. Go to: http://www.windowsde...iscount-coupon-code/ (or maybe http://www.judysapps...nKey_WindowsDeal.htm ?), and read for yourself. The list of features is long, even though this calculator also can be easy to use: http://www.judysapps.com/TK_Features.htm. But you will need to sign up at WindowsDeal. I did that a few weeks ago, and I have not been spammed.

oh, private in that sense! We call that a secret number.

I am excited with this (beta) Parcl community idea (launch date: May, 20th) being invented by Auslogic, Australia.

Did you want to buy something somewhere, but was prevented because "item not available in your area!"
and did you think, if only I knew someone in that other country, so they could buy it for me"?

# Let us get what we want! # peer-to-peer delivery assistance #

2) http://www.parcl.com/
3) http://www.parcl.com...-it-works/forwarder/
4) http://www.parcl.com/about/

step3.jpg

How it works (for the shopper):

A) Found a great deal at an online store, but they don't ship to your country?

B) Head to Parcl and find a great forwarder to help you out with purchase and delivery!

C) Choose from a wide selection of shipping methods and options with your forwarder.

D) Unpack and Enjoy! Get it with your custom tailored delivery where you want when you want it.

How it works (for the forwarder):

e) Set up an account.
._. If you’re ready to help, register as a forwarder and fill out your possible delivery methods, additional service prices and countries you are able to deliver to.

f) Receive private or public assistance requests.
._. You can either receive private requests from shopper and provide an offer in return or browse the public requests and bid along with other forwarders to get a new customer.

g) Chat and make a deal.
._. Talk with your shopper through the details using our messages system and get the shopping and delivery deal set.

h) Get paid and ship!
._. You will receive a full amount of the negotiated deal to your account including shipping costs. Perform any additional services and don’t forget to check them up on your to-do list. Ship the resulting package, and make your customer happy!

http://www.parcl.com/register/forwarder/

Parcl is an online community of shoppers and forwarders where everybody is eligible for delivery of anything! Why not help your fellow shopper on the other side of the planet by receiving and resending the package, all while earning some extra money? Or maybe you want to buy some speciality item, but can't get it delivered to your country? Head to Parcl and get it shipped pretty much anywhere and anytime!
Parcl faq here: http://www.parcl.com/faq/
-Parcl

Maybe they made the forwarder's part sound easier than it will be?

are you telling us that even if you block this number, they can still leave a voicemail?

"Enhanced Caller ID" and "Smart Block" are features I envy YouMail users. But if the system can cheated that easy...

Does it make a difference to be a Premium user?
1034

I try to sign up to take advantage of this offer, but when I click the big green "Sign Up" button, it just flashes  "processing..." for a split second and then goes back to saying "Sign Up."

-the page is most likely waiting for the popup offer ("5% OFF your first purchase when you subscribe to receive email updates") to execute, and your settings are probably preventing popups? Nothing dangerous will happen, so you might as well turn off the filter, and take the discount.
1035
I am a little annoyed / disappointed with part of the way AdGuard is working: You enter a page, you start typing, you realize a feature is missing because of AdGuard, so you click their button to "add exception" - but then the page reloads!! Conclusion: If you use AdGuard (on Firefox), install Text Area Cache, Lazarus or similar.

my guess was that Maxthon could get more Google-money for this freeware, if add-blocking was impossible.
The missing tooltips was too annoying for me, so MxNitro has left my PC. It lasted an hour. Now, SRWare Iron? Looking forward to hear more from Tom, in time.

I am surprised by your modest 512MB allocation, Miles. I expected at least a GigaB. And with a temp-folder included, my unqualified guess would have been 2GB! But as I said, I know nothing about all this.

... control of the alphabetic display order can be by using appropriate link file names. For example giving one's browser link files names like:
  • Browser-Chrome
  • Browser-IE
  • Browser-Firefox
- will make the browser icons appear clustered together sequentially in the Quick Launch bar or Desktop. Thus link filenames beginning with "." or "A" will come first, "B" second, and so forth, through to "Z".

-this is exactly the way I organized my icons in True Launch Bar (my desktop shows no icons, except bin); it is so much faster when you are searching for a type of program, rather than for a name (especially when the name turns out to begin with "Launch ")!

But of course, questorfla wanted something to help him work on other people's computers, so forgive  that I spoke!  :-[

AFAIR: in Windows 7 you can mark all the files and just rename the first one. The rest will be renamed like Nod5 just wrote; test.txt, test (1).txt, test (2).txt, etc. If you are unhappy with the result, a quick right-click: ''Undo rename'', is all it takes.
