Ok good questions..

First, the option about saving backups is not stored in your regular launchbar file.
The backup option is stored in the LaunchbarCommander.MCP file, which also tracks other global options (and keeps track of what launchbar file is open).

If you write protect that file, the only problem may be LBC may complaining about not being able to save its file.

The selection of that file is somewhere around:
CheckBoxBackupOnMaintenance and ComboBoxNormalBackupFormat.

LBC would be quite happy to let you store the .mcp file in one place, and the .mcf file (the file containing the actual definition of a specific launch bar), in a separate place.  Perhaps the thing to do would be to sync the .mcf files and leave the .mcp file (which has very little options) unsynced.

Interesting.. i think what pratty is saying is that when you click on a document, FARR always launches it with the "open" command.. but it seems that these "template" documents have been created with a different default shell action..  FARR should probably be made to respect that if it's not already..

Could you try something for me?

Go to the "Launching Files" tab of FARR options, and uncheck "Use file launch helper utility" and see if that helps -- if not leave it unchecked and try the different Launch Methods.. see if any help?

Screenshot Captor is always going to want to create a thumbnail in its screenshot folder.

However what you can do is add custom "MoveTo" folders in the preferences, and then any time you want to move a folder into one of your favorite MoveTo folders, just select it from the MoveTo menu.

NOTE:
You can also just click and drag any image from the sidebar panel of Screenshot Captor into any other open window (or program that supports drag and drop).

I'll also note that another thing you can do if you want specific sized images, like for a blog, is to use the File -> Thumbnail option, set a thumbnail size there, and then after that hit the quick thumbnail button on the toolbar.

it still sounds like i need to fix the paste as object, but now that i know the new file method works i should be able to fix it to work for you.

the object paste method lets you resize and move the pasted image bitmap on top of another main image.

A follow up question:
Are you wanting to paste the clipboard image as a NEW image by itself? Or open it as a new image?

If the later, try the File menu "Create New Image File from Clipboard Image".

It may be that the other program is copying the other image to the clipboard in an alternate format (raw file instead of bitmap);
let me try to support that format, AND give a message if it's not in that format rather than just doing nothing.  That would at least tell you why it appears nothing is happening.

I will try to upload a new version this weekend.

As far as opening multiple tabbed windows.. it might be too much for Screenshot Captor, BUT perhaps I can consider having a separate standalone tool that would do that, based on the Screenshot Captor codebase..

If you are not seeing such an effect, maybe it has to do with how you are putting the first image on the clipboard before the paste, and if so, perhaps I can fix Screenshot Captor to support that.

How are you copying the first image to clipboard before trying to paste?

Ok for today a tiny little "gadget", a Weekly Pill Organizer, used for Vitamins:

I have two of these that I fill up with vitamins (Vitamin C,B,Calcium, etc.) ahead of time, keeping one out on the bathroom counter at a time.  Before these I never could get in the habit of taking my vitamins.

Screenshot Captor actually has a feature that might be useful for you for that.

First, use Shift+Printscreen key to capture the selection region of the desktop.

Then use your mouse scroll wheel to quickly zoom the image to the size you want it.

Then choose "Adjust Image to Current View" from the Edit Menu to resize the image to what you see, and save (Ctrl+S).

[to make this quicker you'll want to change the mode after capture to automatically show the main SC window after each capture instead of showing the post-capture popup dialog].
