Screenshot Captor / Re: Request: make freehand annotations
« Last post by mouser on February 11, 2013, 10:40 PM »
If anyone wants to try an early alpha, here's a new exe (not setup file); unzip and replace old exe:
https://www.donation...ScreenshotCaptor.zip

Let me know how it works for you.

One quick note: Painting speed is much reduced when not at exactly 100% zoom.
fixed (as long as fast object moving is checked in Interface Options tab, which it is by default).

I didn't realize it was possible to use standard html to redirect after some delay, but it seems it is:
see: http://stackoverflow...irect-from-html-page

In that case it sounds like you might want to search your files for:
http-equiv="refresh"

I have not much guidance to offer, just a few things:

1. take a deep breath.  these things happen.  don't panic don't stress too much.
2. if the exploit came because of a known issue that has been since patched, then updating your site software (joomla and extensions) will be sufficient after restoring from a backup.

the fact that this happens AFTER 15 seconds suggests to me that it's probably some javascript inserted into every page:
All frontend (public) pages redirect to random websites after about 15 seconds.

So,

visit a page with javascript disable do it doesnt redirect, view source, and identify the snippet of code causing the redirect.

then try to search+find files on your server that contain this code.

Just a quick update -- after spending a few hours on this today I feel comfortable saying that simple freehand drawing will be added to Screenshot Captor soon.

It will be just simple drawing with a round pen of user-chosen size, color, and transparency, and an eraser.  Nothing more.

The only thing I need to work on before releasing a version with this is I want to make it like the rest of the objects, where the paint layer is something you can come back to and edit/clear later, which is going to take a bit more work. I may release the non-undoable version before then if people would like to experiment.

Point Motivator / Re: Point Motivator Errors reading XML file
« Last post by mouser on February 11, 2013, 07:33 AM »
I have uploaded a beta version that saves files with the encoding set to UTF-16.

It's just the new exe, not a full setup file, so download and unzip and replace your existing exe.

https://www.donation...a/PointMotivator.zip

This should let you edit and save the files without encountering the problem.

Thanks for the post boyko, and welcome to the site!
Looks like you figured out something useful.

I will try to add code to Point Motivator to use the encoding field in saving xml files in future versions.

It's been a while since I posted about a cool flash tower defense game..

Bloons Tower Defense 5 is packed to the gills with towers and upgrades of a seemingly infinite variety.  Very cool.

Run screenshot captor, then go to the Preferences, and on the Startup Options tab check the box marked "Start with Windows" to have it always run when windows starts.

Also check the "Start Minimized" checkbox to have it start in your system tray.

Then you can leave Screenshot Captor running at all times.

And then whenever you want to take a screenshot just hit the PrtScr key.

Ok my gadget for today is something I wish I had discovered earlier in life, it's a Glue Gun.

This cheap little guy will cost you $13 and is a wonder for making super fast glue bonds.

You know those commercials for "super glue" the glue that will stick your fingers to each other but never seems to hold much of anything else?

Well a glue gun actually *works*.

Basically it just melts these little glue "sticks" into liquidy gel which you apply to the area.. and it bonds very quickly -- within a minute, as it dries.

The speed is the key reason you would use a glue gun -- there are so many glueing projects where you don't want to wait hours or even days for it to try.

The other advantage of a glue gun is that the glue can be made quite thick to fill a void or span a distance, and the glue gun bonds have a little bit of a rubbery give to them, which make them less brittle and more forgiving (unlike superglue which is super thing and brittle).

Anyway, at $13 I think it's a gadget everyone should have on hand.

I think it's quite interesting -- I agree with 40hz that some of the UI decisions don't quite mesh with my preferences -- but it is interesting that they are trying something different.

This is clearly something that a lot of websites could benefit from.. A simple script that shows a table and allows searching and sorting, whose data can be easily edited by an administrator.

I'm quite sure there are such scripts though I don't know of any.  I look forward to hear what other people can find.

I'm sure any evaluation and recommendation you could make would be very useful to others.  Let us know what you find.

For those who are curious, after week 1 the google ads on that page are bringing in an average of $2.14 per day.
Going to keep running it for another couple of weeks to see if this changes.
