Thanks for the reply 4wd. What I want to do is create a system image backup of C: drive. I can easily backup to an external hard drive. When I choose my SanDisk 32 GB pen drive, I get the error message, "The drive is not a valid backup location." My C: partition occupies a mere 20 GB while the pen drive has 28 GB free space.

Thank you 40hz, 4wd and Stoic Joker for your replies. I have a retail product key because I bought it from Microsoft Store. The problem is that it's Windows 8 Professional x64 key. I am neither able to download Windows 8.1 Pro nor able to activate it. I keep getting the message, this key is for a different version of Windows.

There is a folder on my empty thumb drive named 'System Volume Information'. In this folder, there is a file named 'IndexerVolumeGuid'. What are they? I can't delete them. Neither the file nor the folder (with the file). Is it some kind of virus or malware? Do I need to remove them? How can I remove them? I have Norton Internet Security installed with all the latest updates. Thanks for comments and suggestions in advance.

If you don't mind missing the start menu, Windows 8 is way better than Windows 7. You have to get used to desktop full of icons. No one is missing Windows 7.

I have Norton Internet Security. Recently purchase Spyware Doctor. It's hogging my Windows 8 Pro. Just uninstalled it. Now want a good anti-spyware. Commercial ones will do as well. Which one to choose?
