Did you look at Autoit or Autohotkey?

<phew> that stuff's too exciting for me...

I took some convincing with LastPass after RoboForm killed lifetime upgrades but now I have been using it for a while I really like it.

That's me... I was so disgusted with the company that I ditched both Roboform and Goodsync, and I'm the better off for it.

Wow, good questions with lots of information!

I can't answer much right now (sneaking in a quick break at work) but I'll say that I have been using Paragon products for years and they have never let me down  .  The free versions have all the basics covered, but I have even purchased several of the pay-for products to get the extras.  I've bought the server based versions for use at work as well.

I have also had our company buy the Easeus product - we just needed the basics and a site license was less expensive than the comparable Paragon product.

Likewise for me on Save Copy of Image As, with PNG set as the default.

So, just to rephrase to make sure I understand -- if you clip an image or a text item, you want your clipboard manager to save each item as a separate file?  And then at each clip, ask you for a tag, and use that tag info for the foldername (using the time stamp as the filename)?  With buttons for the tags you tend to use frequently?  Also, if it's text, keep a copy in a running file as well, with each snippet time stamped so you can clean out the items that are older than your time limit?  And portable as well?

Fwiw I just use Ditto (http://ditto-cp.sourceforge.net/), which is fantastic for my use but unfortunately will not satisfy your needs.

Out of curiosity, when you password protected it, was that using native Office protection or something else?

FWIW that site captures great in IE9, I just chose a scrolling capture from the menu and followed all the prompts.  I adjusted the left margin out a little and narrowed up the right margin quite a bit (I didn't think keeping the scroll bars in the capture added any value).  I like the prompts, I do a scrolling capture so rarely it's nice to have the reminders...

General Software Discussion / Re: No more WinPE?
« on: March 23, 2012, 05:47 PM »
Never fear, Paragon sent out an update today.  We'll just have to build it ourselves:

New service after April 1st, 2012: Paragon Boot Media Builder!

Don’t worry: you won’t have to do without the convenience of the Paragon WinPE medium that you’re used to. After April 1st, 2012, you can download the Paragon Boot Media Builder which will help you conveniently create your own WinPE CD, DVD or USB stick yourself. Check your MyAccount section to download the Paragon Boot Media Builder as soon as it is available.

[MinorChange] Added longer delay after capturing selected region image with cursor, in order to give time to move cursor to desired position.

Thanks for 3.03.01!

This is an interesting way to attack the issue... the screen capture occurs when the hot key is pressed, then when the region is finalized there's a second or two delay to move the cursor into place before it gets captured.  However, once the region selection is finished, the screen is "unfrozen" so it can be changing while the cursor is getting into position!

I used a simple flash clock web page (http://edmullen.net/fclock.php) as a test since it showed slow, predictable movement, and it was a little disconcerting to watch but worked perfectly.

Most of the other products I have tried just capture the cursor along with the rest of the screen.  This method adds more flexibility at the expense of a short delay (plus my fear that I can't get the cursor to the right place in time  ;D).

An off-topic aside here... Just happened to spy the Ted Notepad screen shot... I keep that installed for some of its useful tools, but it is so abysmally poor on very large files (which I work with daily) that I hardly use it.  That said, I have found other ways to do most of what Tednpad does: Notepad2 (www.flos-freeware.ch) which is my current favorite Scintilla-based text editor (portable, many useful tools, brilliant on large files, native 64 bit version) and Dolphin text editor menu (www.animal-software.com/dolphin-text-editor-menu.php) which spices up everywhere you can select a few lines of text.  Just thought I'd mention them; again, sorry to skip off topic :-)

Well, to my mind, you want to capture the screen when you press the key.  You get everything set up, cursor in the right place just like you want, then <snik> you hit PrtScr and you have your screen shot.  If you want delays, there are options for that (seems like there are options for almost everything! :)).

For some reason I can't seem to capture the cursor when capturing Selected Region.  Seems to be fine in other modes like Active Window or Current Screen, but I most often need to select a region.  The box for capturing the cursor is checked.

I understand you need to use the mouse to select the region, but can you grab the cursor when the PrintScreen is initiated so you can render it in the capture?

Thanks!

PS- just nitpicking here, I noticed that "Miscellaneous" is misspelled a couple places...
