You're right.  Lifetime licenses are no longer available.  I have edited my post above to indicate that.  I've also added a few more thoughts on the program.

127
I have used Stylizer off and on since 2007.  When I purchased it, I already owned a license for TopStyle.  I had been using TopStyle for quite some time, but I always felt like it helped me but that CSS was still difficult.  I felt that the Stylizer (then called StyleSpread) was the first program to actually deliver on the promise of making CSS easy.  Like others mentioned above, the UI it took a little getting used to, but after vie3wing their help videos, I was quickly on my way.  The trial was more than enough time to decide that it would be my CSS editor of choice.

At the time I bought StyleSpread, they were offering lifetime licenses.

I was worried when they changed the name to Stylizer that they would claim that the lifetime license was not valid since it was a "new" program.  It wouldn't be the first time.  As you all know, some companies even decide not to honor lifetime updates without a name change.

I was very happy to see at the bottom of the email announcing the "new" product that they would be honoring the lifetime updates.  I just checked their account section, and my key updated itself to a Stylizer 5 key with no action necessary on my behalf.  I don't do much web work anymore, so I haven't taken the time to look at ver. 5.  It's very nice to know that I can do so at anytime and my lifetime license is still valid.

They do not appear to offer lifetime licenses any longer.  I do think their history of continuing to honor the lifetime license bought more than 3 years ago, even on to a "new" program speaks to the quality and integrity of the developer.

My communications with the developer have always been helpful.  They clearly took the time to read the question or problem.  I didn't feel like I was getting canned responses at all.

I have emailed the developer to ask about a DC discount.

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with the program or the developer, and I will receive no compensation for any sales generated by the above comments.

Edited to point out that there are no longer lifetime licenses and add a few comments about the program.

Any hint as to how long the 39.99 lifetime sale will last?  I want to buy a copy, but I would like to put it off as long as possible.

Less than one year ago, we lived in a place where people are still wearing shorts...  In August, we moved 2000+ miles to Rochester, NY.

Here is the view out our window this past week...

Seems to be a problem with the program running on 64bit Windows 7.  The fix is to go into the program directory and run the file ntcardvt.exe directly instead of the shortcut made through installation.  Of course, you can put a shortcut to that file wherever you want.

Norton gives it a caution.

http://safeweb.norto...name=brothersoft.com

Wikipedia (I know, not the most reliable of sites...) says:

Brothersoft is known for distributing malware and spyware. Norton Safeweb has analyzed brothersoft.com for safety and security problems and concluded that the site is very unsafe and distributes many viruses, including Spyware.AIMSniffer, Spyware.MSNChatSniffer, Spyware.DataDoctorKey among numerous others. Many of the downloads promoted by the site contain adware, spyware and/or executable image exploits disguised as useful software. It has been listed as containing 43 pieces of malicious software.

Just a warning: The site is part of Brothersoft.com which has had some issues with offering programs that were known spyware/malware in the past.  I don't know what their current status is, but their reputation is not the best.

I'm also looking for DCers on PS3.  My PSN name is N-somnia

I want to hook up with players that will understand if I have to pause for a few minutes from time to time to check on my baby or help my wife with something.

First thoughts...

The game looks great.  Also, I really like the fact that I can work in my secondary monitor while the game is running in my primary monitor.  I am posting this, for example, while the game is up and running over there.  I can also look through the manual on this monitor as I play.

When going to Tutorials, there is an option called "Tutorial - Learn as you Play!"  This is supposed to be for players new to Civ.  I think someone new to Civ could easily find themselves getting lost here.  I have a general idea of how a turn based game works, so I was able to function and succeed there, but I personally know quite a few gamers who would have been lost.

There are separate tutorials for Movement and Exploration, Founding Cities, Improving Cities, Combat and Conquest, and Basic Diplomacy that should be suggested for players who are "new to Civ and new to turn-based games."  I am going to play through those before moving beyond the tutorial section.

Edit: Having completed a few of the specific tutorials so far, I really think they should have been suggested first over "Learn as you Play."  I am already figuring out quite a bit of the Civ mechanics.  The Improving Cities tutorials is especially useful.  Now on to Combat and Conquest.

More later....

DC Gamer Club / I have StarCraft 2 and WoW guest passes available
« on: September 15, 2010, 08:52 AM »
I have 2 StarCraft 2 Guest Passes that give you 7 hours or 14 days of game time (whichever comes first).  Registration with BattleNet and download of the game client is required.

I also have 2 World of Warcraft Guest Passes that are each good for 10 days of game time.  Again, registration and download of client is required.

I want to give out the passes to someone who is a supporting/honorary member of DC or someone who has a few quality posts under their belt as a participant.

If you came across this thread from a google search for guest passes, feel free to request a pass, but I will wait to see if any users who fulfill the above qualifications want them first.  Of course, if you start participating in the forum after requesting, then you have a good chance :)

Edited to say 1 pass per user.

Doesn't work for me at all.  Tried it in Firefox and in Chrome.  I enter my address, it loads, I click Play Film, and nothing happens.

HTML 5 is awesome!   ...  :(

Won't have time to put up a full review by the time the Bits discount ends, but I can answer questions about the program.  I've been using it off and on for quite some time now.

Check your PMs.  I have 2 left.

146
Looks like no one else is interested.  If we don't get 2 more by tomorrow evening it might be best to just buy individual copies.

PM me if you want in on the 4 pack.

147
Alright, Ampa is in.  Now we just need two more...

148
I can buy it once we find enough members and the money is in my paypal account.
