Found this:
“Personal edition”. Delphi 2005 Personal Edition has only been offered through some magazines in Europe, but Delphi 7 can be downloaded from the Borland website, even though they no longer advertise it. Just follow this link:

http://www.borland.p...Delphi7_Personal.zip

The MD5 checksum should be: e762ab2c75be5cbd5534ee59bc78e605. The size is around 54 MB compressed and 148 uncompressed.
To activate your installation of Delphi 7 Personal edition, just visit the Borland website and create an account. Then visit the download area and there you will a link to create an activation code for your Delphi 7 Personal Edition.

After installing you can invoke the Registration Wizard to register your Delphi.

Found it here: http://www.mariovald...l-edition-version-7/

Pretty cool looking stuff.  Reminds me somewhat of Looking Glass, originally by Sun, now OSS.
Sorry, don't have a link in my pocket  :-[

I guess I was thinking about the review pages and stuff.  Someone new to DC would probably look around a bit.

I almost asked the same thing "what else is there"  but I didn't want to offend any one  ;)

General Software Discussion / Firefox sucking CPU
« on: June 21, 2006, 11:13 PM »
I'm runing the latest firefox 1.5.0.4.  I noticed some lag in my system and found that Firefox is sucking up 50% of the CPU.  That kind of sucks.  So I kill ff and started it up again... still being piggy.

I don't recall having this problem with previous versions, so I may just wait for a fix.  Otherwise, I'm looking pretty hard @ Opera 9.  I'm typing this using the big O.

I also pulled down some nice widgets and they're running on my 2nd monitor.  Kinda cool.

Does anyone know if Opera has a "restore crashed session" feature the way Tab Mix Plus does for ff?

Thanks

I was thinking about where I spend my time @ DC and it's 99.99% in the forums.  Is that normal?
Should we take a poll?

Just curious :)

You gatta be kidding - the amount of pollution (oil and toxic chemicals) in that wreck are hardly conducive to a healthy reef growing on it!
-Carol Haynes (June 20, 2006, 11:33 AM)

I think you're hearing some mis-information.  Ships have already been sunk of the FL cost and reefs are flourishing.  What?  You thought they sent them down with have a tank of fuel or somehting?

Deffinitly! Me too. I always think alternative operating systems are very interesting. :)

Me too.... er three?    OS's are Cool.  :D

Cool pics.  I'll bet it's harder to build a reef than come up with more steel.  :P

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Keepass Password Safe mini-review

jgpaiva - nice comments.  re: passwords on the move:  one thing you can do with keepass is copy the database & keepass to a USB Drive.   That sort of solves that issue.

I don't recall if this was mentioned in the review, but you can actually use a USB drive (or floppy) as a key disk.  Have the key, open the database;  don't have the key, no luck.  Kinda cool, but not for me.

Hey nudone -

If cody had two coins in his mouth, that'd be a nice 2 cents icon.  Of course we have a newly added :two: so it's up to you.  If you start doing this it could quickly turn into people asking for Cody Smilies of all types and then you'd be busy for months.  :o

On the other hand, a special Cody Smilies section could be fun too  ;D

Coming in late on this discussion... sorry.

I've read the argument several times that if software were less expensive, vendors would sell more and make higher profits.  I beg to differ.

The more software you sell, the more your support costs go up.  Why?  Because there are more people who can't deal with computer problems than can.  So basically, the price is a designed restriction on how many copies will sell.  If the price gets too low, your costs go up and profits down.

That being said, I like the license/support costs to be seprate.  I'll decide if I need to pay for ongoing support based on my experience with and need for a product.  If it's not terribly important, I don't want to pay for support I won't need/use.

Oh dopey me... I use keypass at work to keep track of the many server passwords, windows license keys, etc.  Never thought to do a cool mini-review like this.  :-[

Keepass is da bomb.
