Okay, could you try to install this new version. You may want to back up your files info.rtf, pw.file and sqldb.data or they might be overwritten by the setup.

Yes that makes a difference! I thought it was SQL Server :) I'll try to modify some things today for you.

Can you fill me in and tell me why you would want an application to start a random program at a random time?

Ruffnekk, can you give me a sc of your Internet Explorer proxy settings? :)

But of course :)

Proxy1.png

Proxy2.png

I blurred the name, I figure you won't need it anyways... BTW, if you need help coding the Proxy part in VB I might be able to help out as well.

[edit]
Looking at my own screenshots, a HTTP proxy will suffice I think...

lol Thanks tomos. Unfortunately I was only notified by mail  :(

184
I fear the worst... still nothing happens when I click 'Show recent posts'. Can someone reply to this topic pls so I can check it properly?

185
Okay I will try it in anxious anticipation :P

Thanks Ruffnekk! I really should have thought of situations where ppl connect to the net via proxy servers.  :-[

Check out the new version:

1.1.25    Connect to the Internet via proxy/no-proxy based on Internet Explorer settings

Lemme know if it doesn't work for you. :)

I've downloaded 1.1.25 but it doesn't work yet. Should it detect settings automatically?

Okay then there's something else wrong. All links work from the menu except that one ??

hmmm, what else is wrong and which link were u referring to? :)

I thought the 'Show recent posts' was a link to the 'Show recent posts' page on DC  :P

188
Okay in that case it must be a proxy issue, because here at work I'm not getting notified of new posts either... At home it worked :(

Any chance your app can be made to configure the use of a proxy server with authentication?

189
I have minor thing though: the menu for 'Show recent posts' doesn't do anything...

Just FYI: it works correctly for me...

Excellent tool MobySaurus!

I have minor thing though: the menu for 'Show recent posts' doesn't do anything... I'm not sure if you are aware of it or not, but you may want to look at it. I'm definitely going to use this!

I want to see a screen shot of where your towers are when you get to level 81. I did get to level 77 using only green towers (and one blue to catch the ones that got away from the greens early on) and I tried putting 3 on the top row, 4 on the middle and 4 on the bottom row... Didn't quite make it that far, though.

Unfortunately I don't have that screenshot :( But I made a screenshot of the placement and which towers to upgrade first.

TD.png

The highlighted towers should be upgraded to level 4 before all other towers are upgraded so that they have sufficient range. After that, start upgrading all other towers gradually, including the highlighted towers. You may lose 5 or 6 citizens before wave 20, but the remaining citizens will last a long time.

perhaps i'm simply asking for a project management system?

Well it's an interesting idea, but I think it's not feasible without some kind of project management GUI to wrap it all up. Perhaps a GUI application that allows you to create a project where you can store all necessary information? For example, you have a project and you put in some appointments, images, text documents and you can specify which application to use to open or view an item. That way you could access all related information from one interface. That would be something that can be done.

I found a similar game to this, called Master of Defense. You can play online or download the Windows version here. The download is a trial version but I bought it because it's an awesome game!

P.S. I made it to level 81 in Tower Defense. The trick is to use only plant towers. Put them in line with the three horizontal paths on the right. You will have 3, 4 and 4 towers. You may lose some citizens in the early levels, but once you upgrade the towers sufficiently you will get very far easily.

I agree as well. I guess I didn't give it much thought earlier... this is not the kind of topic that fits DonationCoder.com. My apologies!

That's not easy to do you know... First you would need a Windows debugger like SoftIce. This is a program that runs in the background and with it you can pause any other process and debug it's assembly code, view the registers, stacks, etc. If you can determine which address in the assembly code calls the function to check for the CD, you can modify the code to skip that part for example. In practice it's not so simple most of the times. Debugging can take hours or days if you're dealing with good security. I'll see if I can post some more stuff on this and hopefully some links later.

I don't have the source code here at home, but I think you should give the real password so it can be compared to the hash in the sqldb.data file. (I'm working on a lot of projects for work and personal use so I can't remember every detail lol, sorry 'bout that)

i like this idea too, and maybe a central page where the most important posts can be seen all together, regardless of section.

That would also be nice, to have one central location for important messages.

But maybe we could figure out a way to "niceify" it..
for example:
Give each person 1 unit of karma to give away each month for each month they are active on the forum. eliminate the ability to negative rate people.  So all you can do is positive rate them.  And only allow supporting members to give karma, to prevent people from signing up just to give out karma..

Yes I definitely think users should not be rated negative, even though they may deserve it sometimes :P But seriously, rating negative raises the overall feel of competition and that is something you should avoid. Rating only positive will drive people to help others better and they will feel good if they are appreciated for it. There should be no ratings or rankings, except maybe a one-time-a-year award like FarmSteader proposed.

I was wondering if you ever found the tool for this LuckMan? I need something like this!
