Wow, it works! (I'm not going to reveal its contents, though.) Anyway, it's the first meaningful usage since I installed the Kaywa Reader in my cell phone a year ago. Are they used at all?

That's why the CyberFort series is so popular, at least here in Czech Republic. It seems APC doesn't produce any equvalent with UK sockets, though.

However, here you can easily get the extension cords for a fraction of your price: some £1.55.

I'm using three APC BACK-UPS CS 500 for more than three years (so it's time to replace batteries...), and I'm quite happy with them. Recently I replaced one of them with the APC BACK-UPS RS 800 model and I'm absolutely satisfied with it, too. It's a bit overkill for my needs, but it was the only model with sufficient capacity at that time.

Find And Run Robot / Re: properties.. menu does not do anything
« on: December 17, 2008, 02:47 AM »
The same here. No problems on WinXP SP3, on Vista Business only the Shell Context Menu > Properties works. (FARR 2.34.01)

Mine was quite easy to remember: 5501. Yes, just four digits back in sixties in some smaller cities of Czechoslovakia.

General Software Discussion / Re: Remap Mouse Buttons
« on: December 16, 2008, 02:49 AM »
Nice, however, from the name of the app I was expecting the only x-mouse feature I need, which is auto activation that follows the mouse (autofocus). Unfortunately the author never heard of it. So with Vista we are still limited to those registry hacks...

Just discovered Free Video Zilla, that's why I'm resurrecting this thread, someone might find it useful. Free, downloads from other services as well and works even with Opera! (No format conversion, though.)

Enjoy!

I hate quotations. Tell me what you know.

Sure. I did not understand you're speaking about computers that are not under your management. It's a pity, it works quite well. Do they consider VPN official and secure, though?  ;)

210
Maybe I didn't understand your requirements properly, but how about different approach, which I'm using successfully: Everything's HTTP server? I cannot imagine anything faster. (There's also FTP server included in Everything, but so far I was not able to set it up properly.

211
For quite some time I've settled on using:

  • HotkeyP for launching often used stuff with single hotkeys (I have dozens of them)
  • FARR for launching no so often used applications or opening documents
  • PhraseExpress for inserting phrases and auto-correcting typos, but not for launching anything

The one thing about Zapr is that the limit is as big as your own hard drive or whatever drive you use.

Should be the same. I was just curious, if Zapr offers something special. But HFS does much more than I can ever use. It's one of the rare programs I have absolutely no complain about. Let's hope somebody will try Zapr and post the results!

213
How does it compare to HFS ~ Http File Server? I'm using the latter sometimes, and I'm quite happy with it. You can even upload to the server, secure folders with passwords, etc.

General Software Discussion / Re: Lessons from 2 years without Windows
« on: November 13, 2008, 09:26 AM »
Btw, as for the ALT+0151 thing, it should be possible to set up some keyboard mapping to give you the shortcuts you want... on windows as well as linux :)

That's exactly how I'm typing em-dash (on WinXP) — using HotkeyP. Very light on resources.

215
Well, this is not a good policy. (I'm not going to even try it. -- What if like it?) Especially the timing is wrong, as these days the version 6 of PhraseExpress is out and it seems to be--unlike the previous one--quite stable and sophisticated.

Does it count when I'm on my 100th post in hexadecimal?

Thank you for your words, Darwin. Let's conclude--I'm just getting old...

Oh, I see. So I'm really stupid, I overlooked the date.  :-[

Try to contact the author, he's already flooded with my ideas, but very responsive.

Fixed (except Member map), thanks, mouser! Still can't find where your screenshot comes from, though...

I was using almost exclusively "Show latest topics", but it now puts me at Forum home only. Logged off and on again, restarted, tried different browsers... No way. Any ideas?

Besides, am I really that dumb? -- I can't see anything like the screenshot mouser posted a couple of posts above. And what is the "User Info Box"?

222
Not an appropriate name then...  ;) Nevertheless it serves well to me, being completely on NTFS.

223
Because only NTFS system uses the USN Journal -- and hence the lightning speed.

224
New beta 1.2.0.322b just released. Unicode sorting fixed now.

It seems nobody mentioned telegraph here. Surprisingly, this service is still available, but who knows for how long.

On the contrary, I hope that the pneumatic post system will survive, albeit as a curiosity.
