General Software Discussion / Icon collector for ICL files

Iam on the search....

...and need your HELP

I want to create an ICL icon library file.
I want to extract icons from .EXE, .DLLs and other ICL files
and save my own collection as a new ICL file.

Is there a small freeware out there to do that ?


I have found Icon Collector on http://www.topsection.com/ (in the freeware section)

wich works very easy:
- just extract icons from all files you want into the middle window
- than drag and drop the icons you want into the right window
- stupidly Icon Collector save them as ICS file ??! not as ICL file.
But the way Icon Collector works is very nice (for the first look)


So can me please anyone point to a nice freeware tool to do what i want?
Or can i change ICS to ICL ?

Hello community,
Iam searching for an freeware tool.

This dream already came true with the fantastic tool fSekrit by f0dder
Read on and see in the second last post the link to the fSekrit home page ==>

I know a few crypting software
how create SFX-EXEs, so i need not
to install any program on an other PC
only to decrypt my textfiles.

But thats the point:
i don't want to decrypt and unpack my encrypted textfile!

I want an EXE how ask for the right password
and show me the text in the windows editor only.
(no decrypted/unpackt new file    'cus i must delete this secure file myself and have a wipe tool to do so)

If i close the editor, all secret infos should be gone.
If i want to see my text again, i have to execute the EXE again.

This is like the encrypted PDF files -- just double click the PDF - enter the
 password - close the PDF and all is secure again.

But on most PC it take for me too many time to open the reader...
... and i know a many PC without any PDF reader.

The tool i search could be a commandline tool.
Or with an GUI and optional with context menu option.


Here the steps i wanna do again:
1. encrypt my "Licence.txt" file
2. get an encrypted SXF EXE
3. burn this "Licence.txt"-SFX-EXE with others on an CD
4. go to an other computer and double click the EXE
5. enter the password
6. the EXE should decrypt the "Licence.txt" file into the RAM and open notepad to show me the text
7. if i close notepad the "Licence.txt" file into the RAM should be wiped.

Please, is there such an freeware tool anyhow around ?

Since this week german user can buy PC-Welt computer magazin
with Screenshot Captor on CD

Although the pronounced to have version 2.03.10 on there CD
it's the version 2.02.02.

Often i read smtg and close the thread, didn't press on [Unread].
Later i want to look again into one or another post,
but i have to browse to find the right one.

So i ask...
if is reasonable and possible to add an button like [Show last 100 posts]
or like this ?


Yes, i know [Search] and the list with last posts on the bottom on the forum start side.

Maybe you can improve the selection modul to use

- hold the Shift-key to make an perfect quadrat or an perfect circle

Tip:
At the moment this works with the Ctrl-key and for circles only.
You could make an perfect round circle first and select than the rectangle tool for switch to an quadrat. (see pic)



and maybe
- hold the Ctrl-key to resize an selection at more borders the same time
i.e.
hold the Ctrl-key and resize the selection at the right .... and automaticly from the left too
hold the Ctrl-key and resize the selection at the top ... and automaticly from the botton too
hold the Ctrl-key and resize the selection at the corner ... and resize all four borders the same time
, and vice versa

I like to make an selection with 80% transparency for the back ground color.
Than i like to make the same selection with 0% trans for the border.
(see the red/yellow rectangle in the following pic)


Or i make an selection for an circle in say red
and than an new selection like the first, but a little bit smaller and fill it in yellow.


Now i ask if is it possible to get the same selection as for the last action ?
Than we could use this selection again or resize them to our needs.
Maybe with an new check box like here at the blue arrow ?

Screenshot Captor / Quest: how to select all and copy to clipboard ?

Sometimes...
- i want to modify an shot
- copy all (shot + modifications) into the clipboard (ctrl+C)
- paste it into an other program (ctrl+V)
- back in SC i want to undo my modification or delete objects
- and do an second modification



But i get only the back images, the main shot, without all my objects to copy.


Solution...
First i had to "Objects | Flatten all objects" --- and copy than to the clipboard.

- Than i must select an other (or even itself) shot in the left list
- say "Abandon operation" ... to undo the flattern function
- than i can do my second modification

isen't there an other way ?
Maybe "Ctrl+A" for select all and auto-flattern ?
With following auto-un-flattern if i unselect all or click on an other modul ?



You see, often i don't want to always save my shots/modifications, but just modifiy and copy.

Finished Programs / IDEA: colored the window titel to recognizes the user

Hi

i like skrommels ColorTaskbar  >>tool.<<

I want to use such an function to
recognizes if one is logged in as
an special user, e.g. with admin rights.

So i would put this AdminColor.exe
into the startup folder of the users with admin accounts.

But..
i didn't want gradually colors
but instead an solid red color.

I don't can imaging if coloring the window title
to an red color is an good idea or the title is not readable anymore?

I want like to have an AdminColor.ahk
with the option to choose the RBG color
and to choose to color the tray and / or the window title.


Maybe there are more idea for this tool too?
e.g.
- diff colors for title and tray??
- maybe however the gradually colors??

Maybe one would want to wrote such an script?

Just an idea for discuss:

an feature to save the current selected area
(without the need to crop it first) would be nice.

Actual i must
- select an area
- crop this
- save as
- restore prior shot
- select an another area

Or miss i something ?

Maybe hold the Shift-Key and click on Save+
to get an new file wich contain the selected area
and called "Old file name sel001"
analog to the "Old file name ver001" feature.

So we could easily crop a few areas e.g. from an hole screen capture at once.

Moving of clip is now much "smoother".
Thumpnails on the left are more willing to interact quicker with me.
Toolswindow is moveable.

If i select in the settings
or in the tray menu
"Use Timer" or "Captor Cursor"

than this setting is not show in the "Capture menu".

If i check this options in the menu
they are also set in tray and settings.

my screenshots are now suddently stored in the C:\ root
(path in the settings are set as in my other post)

i get an "can not save" error.

*.PNG test saving was a 0 byte file
*.JPG test saving was the same error, but file was saved.

I found no way to cancel an just started snapshot.

Normal i could use the ESC-key to cancel such actions.

Maybe it's worth to implement this feature ?
