N.A.N.Y. 2018 / Re: NANY 2018 Release (preliminary alpha-or-so): ymarks
« on: September 10, 2018, 01:07 PM »
It is not an option. It is more like a mandatory password protection so only you can access your server unless anyone wants to try up to INT_MAX numbers.  :)

I recommend to change the default PIN to a different number. Create a file named PIN.txt and write a number into it. Done.

The first update in a while fixed a problem where the last parameter to add was not optional despite it should. No more default body though. :)

BleachBit has become pretty mature by this point.

Firefox will drop support for bookmark descriptions "soon". I'll probably update the add-on around that time.
edit: If that will break ymarks, that is. :)

Why would you want to only be able to store the same number of applications on a much larger drive?

If I'm not alone, why does the world prefer to write horrible software?

a) it had a 20 Mb footprint; I know people act as if disk space is infinite, but it seemed an awful lot for a launcher, the more so as the first PC I ever used (in 1988) only had a 20 Mb hard disk.  For everything.

Ha! I find it amazing that I'm not the only one around who can't understand why the solution to performance problems is to just throw more hardware at it...

Mozilla will remove "legacy" extensions from AMO starting in October 2018. I am in the process of searching a new home for OpenDownload²...

409
I'm not perfectly sure if it is a fix yet - I actually just worked around the problem (by ignoring one more error state).  ;D
Let's wait for more feedback to intrude from AMO.  :-[

Thank you for testing!

410
I found and confirmed the problem. Pushing 1.1.0b4 to AMO. Still considered experimental.

411
I don't see anything, but I might not be looking in the right place.

It's in the server window or nowhere. :D

So if there is nothing, the server does not even get the request properly.

I looked through all the tabs of the dev console but didn't see anything pertaining to ymarks.  Again, though, I might be looking in the wrong place.

Usually, the second tab with everything "enabled" and no filter set should be enough ...

Yes, as above, I'm running Firefox v61.0.2.

Argh. Sorry, I started typing without reading properly.  :-[
I will look into it in 28 hours!

Thank you. :(

I played a game on my Unicomp yesterday. No. Just no.

413
If these 18% and you  :D lost Atom over night, they'd move on to VS Code or Sublime Text, probably. They are all interchangeable, except that Sublime Text is not that disgustingly resource-clogging.

414
I suspect that Firefox 61+ has made changes... do you happen to have that version? Because nobody with Firefox 60 has complained yet.

415
Hmm, that's not good. I received a similar report yesterday. Something must have changed. It had worked in the past.

I'll be out of town until tomorrow, but what I need for a reasonable fix is, at least, a useful error message. Does the server print anything while you're using Firefox? Does Firefox's error console (F12...) tell you anything after clicking Download? Is there a pop-up from the extension?

416
The loss of Atom would be no loss for developers.

Oh, don't start. I own a ROG Zephyrus M. The colors are the only reason why I dislike its hardware. Everything else is perfectly fine.

Made by the vintage ex-IBM employees with vintage ex-IBM patents on vintage ex-IBM machines, indeed.

In gaming communities mechanical keyboards are quite "normal", according to what I see on the shelves of tech stores.  :)

I know deskthority, but those guys are too esoteric.  ;D

However, regarding "vintage": The keyboard pictured above was built on August 7th, 2018. There is a "license plate" on its back, stating that.  :)

DC Member Programs and Projects / ZenTweet is Open Source now.
« on: August 19, 2018, 05:07 PM »
Look, another software from me! This time, it is really, really old and it's in German only... but you can contribute!

I open-sourced ZenTweet, my minimalistic Twitter client for web browsers which has not seen major updates in years, a few minutes ago. I started it in 2014 or so, the current instance is here. As people keep hating Twitter for doing Twitter things, this might be a good moment to notify you that ZenTweet's limited features are not affected by the API changes in the foreseeable future.

Enjoy.

423
They only bought it for one reason. To have access to all of that code whenever they please.

This is FUD and nothing else.
