I prefer those transparent rulers that you drag across to get a read-out of both axes, the width and height of your selection:

Here's the last Freeware version:

Yes. It does indeed allow to capture the most outlandish windows. Great job.

Or any other modifier key to allow drawing a straight line.
The SHIFT key would be my preference, however, since it has become a quasi-standard for keeping drawing tools restrained (perfect squares instead of rectangles, circles instead of ovals, horizontal/vertical instead of wobbly lines)

This would turn the paintbrush into a great highlighter-pen.

Cannot reproduce it either, both things are working fine.
Using SC portable on a Win7 x64 laptop.

Screenshot Captor / Disable Ctrl Q
« on: May 30, 2014, 12:22 AM »
I wish there was a way to disable the Ctrl+Q hotkey.
Many other programs use it to QUIT the application, so I got into the habit of pressing it when finished. Accidentally deleting the active screenshot in the process.

Why do we need Ctrl+Q if we have DEL that does the same thing? Apart from many other ways to delete. Very non-standard and confusing, with no apparent advantage over the usual methods of deleting.

Screenshot Captor / SUGGESTION: Hotkeys for Drawing Tools
« on: May 30, 2014, 12:16 AM »
To quicky switch between a-rrows and t-ext and back again to the selection tool.
Especially important since the "bigger icon improvement" has been put on hold. It's tedious having to aim at the tiny icons on a hi-res screen. Tool-shortcuts (one letter please) would make it easier. They should not respond when in TextBox or Caption Mode (naturally). These modes must be exited first (ESC) before A-rrows and F-rames etc work again.

Screenshot Captor / SUGGESTION: Bezier curves
« on: May 30, 2014, 12:10 AM »
Lower priority, but nice-to-have: Curved lines that you can bend easily via 2 Bezier anchor points for dragging their shape
It's not just that they look nicer in many instances, they also avoid that crowded look of criss-crossing arrows all getting in each others way.

Screenshot Captor / SUGGESTION: Custom Presets
« on: May 30, 2014, 12:08 AM »
I have a bunch of colored underlines and arrow types that I keep using - and setting up - again and again.
To speed up the worfklow, it were nice to store customized tools as presets in a favorite-tool dropdown, or as seperate icons on a second favorite Toolbar

Screenshot Captor / Re: Resolution of Screenshot Captor

Sad to hear that the icon issue is about to drop from your radar.
I suffer the same problems as reported above. Same thing, small monitor with extremely high resolution. It's not so uncommon these days, they sprout up everywhere, even laptops with resolutions way above full HD.

What would help, too - if we had shortcuts to switch between arrow and textbox and cliparts and object selector.
Having to aim at eeny weeny tiny icons - continually - really gets exhausting after a while.
