I let iTunes organize the music folder.

I have 'Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library' checked in the Prefs and then consolidated the library.

The folders that iTunes creates in the folder are by Artist. How do I change this so the folders are by Albums instead?

Does anyone know a program (preferably freeware) in which I can browse to a folder full of sequential images and it will make a video out of it?

http://www.contextma....com/instant-viewer/

It is an instant image viewer that displays thumbnail (reduced picture), of selected file in a tooltip window next to the mouse pointer. It supports a lot of popular image file formats, including BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, WMF, EMF, TIFF and so on.

As Instant ThumbView is a Windows shell extension, it is always ready and available to use. To bring it up, open any folder with image files in Windows Explorer, and then hover an image file with your mouse pointer. You will see the tooltip saying Extracting Thumbnail..., and then the image thumbnail should be displayed as shown on the screenshot.

I am not looking for a separate program, but rather a free app which adds the above functionality to the regular windows explorer. Any ideas?

Direct Access speeds up your personal computing experience by reducing time consuming, repetitive task through the use of abbreviations. Type an abbreviation in any application and Direct Access will detect it and perform the task you desire.

Imagine typing a piece of correspondence in your favorite word processor and then typing the abbreviation “sign” to affix your closing and signature to the document. You can also use the abbreviation shortcuts to open applications, websites, your email client and do web searches. You can invoke abbreviations from any program.

General Software Discussion / Does anyone use PhraseExpress?
« on: May 02, 2007, 09:32 AM »
PhraseExpress organizes your frequently used text snippets and allows pasting them into any application.

Expand abbreviations as you type
Quickly handle email responses
Launch applications by entering shortcuts

Video demo: http://www.phraseexpress.com/demo.htm

I added some phrases to a folder in PE and associated a hot key to bring up the items in this folder. The menu comes up when selecting any item and hitting return doesn't paste the phrase.

Screencast of how it's not working for me: http://www.sridharee...xpress/Untitled.html

Any idea what's wrong? I would've posted on their official forum but for the spammy posts filled up there.

Is there a Firefox add-on for RSS feeds reading that

1) has an option to set the feed refresh/fetch time

2) Notification upon new RSS items

61
I use an add-on for Firefox called Auto Copy that copies content when it's highlighted (or just selected). It can be toggled by a button in the status bar.

I think this idea can be extended across all the programs system-wide. That is, a system tray icon has to be present and when you click on it, Auto copying should be activated. So you can just select any information (text or graphics or charts or anything) w/ the mouse and it's ready to be pasted. The idea is to reduce one single step, ctrl+C.

Is there any program which lets me do this already?

1) http://www.mtexplorer.com/

sshot-1.jpg

This is a very simple .exe (no need to install) that will let you have multiple panes of windows explorer locations in a single window.

provides a Tab bar for Windows Explorer.

Living Room / evoca - empower your voice
« on: January 30, 2007, 09:48 PM »
http://www.evoca.com/ is a free service that lets you create and share your voice/audio. You can directly hit the record button on their site, start speaking in your mic and once done, hit the stop button. Now you can embed this audio in your site/blog or e-mail it to others. You can also upload an existing mp3 from your computer or dial a phone number (not sure if it's toll-free or not) and leave your message.

Screenshot - 1_31_2007 , 4_45_19 AM_thumb.png

Recording time for a free account is limited to 60 minutes.

Here's a small audio I created: http://www.evoca.com...ording.jsp?rid=40170

Have a microphone? Why not leave a short hello to DonationCoder?  8) Record your voice and leave the links here.

Living Room / Blogging platform for enterprise?
« on: January 11, 2007, 08:56 PM »
One of my colleagues asked me this:

........ has kindly mentioned that you may be able to provide some advice and perhaps a list of options for the selection of a blogging system.  Here are the high-level requirements:

* LDAP support
* easy to use for those not too savvy
* "brand-able"... able to plug into existing portal and support css
* multiple user roles
* extensible blog entry form... need to add custom fields and support application integration
* support a community size of about 1,000 bloggers (maybe more) and > 500,000 readers
* highly scalable... just add hardware
* and the other basic blogging functions

I am currently evaluating all options: open source, commercial, in-house, and hosted.  I am putting together a best-of-the-best list and plan on building a scorecard around this for presentation to upper management.

Can anyone recommend me possible blogging systems that meet the above requirements?

Hi all,

I am requesting for a tiny program (.exe) that would check for existance of a file/folder on the user's computer and prompt them for a download if they don't have it.

It should have the following input boxes:

1. Path of the file/folder to check (Ex.: C:\Program Files\AvaFind)

2. If present, the path to a file/folder to launch (Ex.: C:\%ProgramFiles%\blah\congrats.html)

3. If Not Present, path to a file/folder to launch (Ex.: c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe http://www.google.com/search?q=AvaFind)

If not a GUI, a file that can be edited by a text editor with the above modifiable parameters would work as well.

Thanks for any help.

Developer's Corner / Links are invisible in IE6 but appear in FF
« on: December 28, 2006, 09:19 PM »
At this page of my new site, URL Form and Manage Cookies links appear in Firefox:

whereas in IE 6, the links don't appear but when the mouse is over them, the cursor turns into hand type and the links are clickable:

proxylinks.jpg

Here is the code being used:

<div id="menu">
          <a href="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'?>">URL Form</a> |
          <a href="?action=cookies">Manage Cookies</a>
         </div>

#menu
{
    -moz-border-radius: 0 30px 0 0;
    /* border-left: 1px solid #CCCDD7;
    border-bottom: 1px solid #CCCDD7; */
    float: right;
    height: 20px;
    /* background-color: #ffffff;
    color: #336600; */
    font-size:80%;
}

Any idea as to what's wrong?

Anyone know a way to compress about 9000 files into multiple .zip files of 8 MB each?

The individual zip files have to be independent of each other, meaning: each of them should be extractable to get the files inside w/o the necessity of other .zip files.

Thanks for help/ideas.

Living Room / incircles.com - Chat with your site/blog visitors
« on: November 24, 2006, 10:06 AM »
If you have a web site or a blog, there are quite a few web services using which you can chat with your site visitors. incircles.com is a new on in that genre.

Just enter your e-mail address, the web page URL and copy paste the code that's generated in your web site to have the chat box appear.

Screenshot:

incircles.jpg

It has PM system, cross site nick retention in a browser (meaning, if you change your nick to say 'x' while using Firefox on a blog, if you visit another site having incircles chat box, your nick will automatically be set to 'x'), and is skinnable.

http://incircular.blogspot.com/ is their blog.

Living Room / Tagging for text
« on: October 09, 2006, 11:19 AM »
Is there any way to tag a paragraph or two of text either through a web site or a program?

i.e., s'thing like what del.icio.us does for URLs.

May be a word toolbar wherein I can type keywords or tags and it will retrieve the paras that I tagged.

http://www.ircatwork.com

This is not a Java applet and is completely server side (a CGI script).

To join our donationcoder IRC channel, for example:

Nickname: sri_atwork
Server: irc.easynews.com
Channel: #donationcoder

and press Login.

Tested from behind a corporate proxy and works :up:

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Tabbed interface for Microsoft Word
« on: September 28, 2006, 11:24 PM »
It would be really handy if there's a free plugin or a program which puts tabs MS Word so within one interface (window), I can have multiple documents open.

I came to know about 2 such commercial programs from JavaJones:

1) http://www.intellita...om/featuresWord.html

intellitabs.jpg

2) http://www.officeboosters.com/wtmain.htm

tabbed_docs.jpg

If this is relatively easy to develop, it could be extended to Excel and Powerpoint as well.

Does anyone also see the benefits of this?
