@phitsc: i plugged an old pair speakers into the Odroid and streamed music from Subsonic server. the quality of the audio, while not outstanding, was certainly listenable.

after giving away RO2, Tripwire Interactive are now having a free weekend for RO2's expansion - Rising Storm GOTY. Note: the game requires you to install Punkbuster as part of the anti-cheat multiplayer component.

lanux128, can you comment on the quality of the analog audio out of the ODROID-U3? I'm running Raspbmc on a Raspberry Pi as an audio player and the Raspberry's headphone output definitely has room for improvement.

@phitsc: currently i am using it more as a video player (audio via HDMI) but wrt to analog audio-out i will try to find a pair of speakers and do a test for you. :)

oh baby, this is sexy.
Very nice in any case!

thanks guys! i have finished setting up but there is a bug in the current image where xbmc can't see any SMB shares unless it is run as root. i plugged in a wireless keyboard and manually keyed-in the sudo cmd but i prefer not doing it at each boot-up. the plastic case handles heat quite well but haven't started streaming any movies yet. i am also trying to add an external hdd and see if i can install steam and play some controller-centric games.

Yes and no, says Wikipedia :)
The S III comes in two distinct variations that differ primarily in the internal hardware. The international S III version has Samsung's Exynos 4 Quad system on a chip (SoC) containing a 1.4 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 central processing unit (CPU) and an ARM Mali-400 MP graphics processing unit (GPU).

thanks for the clarification. i found Odroid as giving the best value among the SoC boards that i came across. if i had chosen for aesthetics values alone, then CuBox would have had my vote plus it already has a GeeXboX build.

NB: if you have an android smartphone, then you can use the XBMC Remote over your wifi. no IR-based remote controller is required.

i received mine within a week but hardly had the time to set things up. i also had to buy a micro HDMI adapter.

the default setup came with kubuntu (xfce) and xbmc frodo 12.2 but i am planning to flash xbmcbuntu soon enough.

here are some pics from the unboxing.

i am confused, where is the link to the promotion? :-\

have you tried Audacity? it's a freeware audio editor and recorder.

Screenshot Captor / Re: taking screenshot WITHOUT saving to file
« on: April 17, 2014, 11:24 PM »
I'm looking for this feature too. I have no need for saved files - I use them directly from the clipboard. I can find no way to turn off the saving of files.

you can turn on this option under "Misc. Tweaks" (see image below for reference).

from my personal experience, TP-Link is a poor choice when it comes to custom FW. i too had bricked one due to same differences as ewemoa encountered.

for the record, i played Lotro daily for about 18 months some time back and had no issues "with database functionality". i had a main and two alts. :-\

General Software Discussion / Re: K-Meleon anyone?
« on: April 14, 2014, 09:20 AM »
did K-Meleon undergo any radical version number changes like Mozilla? because the last version i have is named as thus, K-Meleon1.5.4en-US.exe.

237
by any chance, does SC have any option like the one in the image below, which i may have inadvertently turned it off/on?

2. Lanux -- in your original post you say you end up with 2 instances in tray.  Can I ask you to elaborate? Do you end up with 2 separate copies of the program running? Or just 2 system tray icons?

i get two separate copies as can be seen in this screenshot below.
Spoiler

3. Lanux, can you see if the same behavior happens if you EXIT all running instances, and then start them both up (let the first fully start before launching second) with your new shortcut?

the behaviour persists even after exiting both instances and re-starting again.

239
ah, yes.. even without a command-line option, a new instance is launched..

240
i have only 1 ScreenshotCaptor.exe in the whole of the drive C:\ or "Everything" is lying.. :)

Spoiler

241
yes, it still happens with the new beta. sorry, forgot to mention that in the first post.

btw, i am using win7 pro 32-bit.

242
i have a shortcut on my desktop with the following command, "<path>\ScreenshotCaptor.exe -scan". whenever i click this shortcut to initiate a scan, SC gets launched in a new instance and only then the scan command is carried out. in the end, i end up with two SC icons in the system tray. is there a setting to avoid this? thanks!

Living Room / Re: Are your websites secure? The heartbleed bug

it seems that there are companies trying to take advantage of this bug as the linked article shows.

Living Room / Are your websites secure? The heartbleed bug
« on: April 08, 2014, 09:29 PM »
as it is already known, the heartbleed bug is a vulnerability in the OpenSSL library which seems to compromise the traffic flow at secure sites. the web admins everywhere are rushing to patch their servers with the latest bug-fix.

to check if your site's exposure level, you can go here to test. to learn more about the bug itself, click on the image below.

Hardkernel, the people behind ODROID series have come up with "ODROID-U3 Community Edition" which is the same as the normal U3 but with the following clauses: "$59 is special price only for this community edition for personal use outside Korea. And the maximum order quantity is limited to one unit for one person".

This is one of the few single-board computers that I found enticing due its power-packed features. Among others it comes with a Samsung Exynos quad-core processor (same as a Samsung Galaxy 3 iirc) and 2gb of ram plus ethernet slot and 3 usb ports (not usb 3.0 though).

from my experience, dotnet runtimes are easily broken and a repair/reinstall might help. the following links are useful and i have used them in the past.
