Clipboard Help+Spell / New feature: hotkey to "auto-add" to previous clip

Up front, maybe it is already available, I don't know - haven't found it.

If not, then maybe it would be a new feature...

Hotkey  that "auto-adds" text to previous clip

How I do it now:
select text - Ctrl c
select other text - Ctrl c
select some more text - Ctrl c

open CHS
select the entries
click on merge + ok

it would show like:
this is 1st text
and this is the 2nd part
and this the 3rd

below each other
then I further need to adjust this to:

this is 1st text and this is the 2nd part and this the 3rd



What I would like to suggest
select text - Ctrl-C   (or SomeHotKey, a different one)
select other text - SomeHotKey
select some more text - SomeHotKey

--> in CHS it shows like: this is 1st text and this is the 2nd part and this the 3rd


paste!
the result is : this is 1st text and this is the 2nd part and this the 3rd

Example:
I capture a photo from a website
below the photo details are displayed, like long title, short title, place, names of people, when shot, photographer, bla bla

now I select
short title (ctrl-c)
place (SomeHotkey)
when shot (SomeHotkey)

resulting in: short title place when shot

this i can paste when naming the screenshot  (save as =>   paste)

again, maybe it is available...

Screenshot Captor / Larger Toolbar buttons and OCR ?

Just downloaded the latest portable version. I admit: I have not used Screenshot Captor.
So 100% as far as SC is concerned.
Created first capture.

I wonder, is it possible to adjust the right hand vertical toolbar?
Say, big buttons and with text ?
Vainly checked out options->advanced tweaking->more interface options, but maybe I should look elsewhere?
Or maybe it isn't possible at all?

Will there also be a text-capture (OCR like) in future?
i.e. a screenshot with text - the text is OCR'ed and then copy pasted into something else.

If I drag capture1 onto capture2 (as object) I can rotate capture1. The angle is fixed, 90 degr.
Is it possible to rotate it manually ?  If not, is it on the todo-list?

Suggestion
Under Options - Misc. Options 2

Add a new option: As soon as text is highlighted/selected in clip memo, copy it to clipboard as plain text

Most probably this option may be used to copy parts of a clip to clipboard so to use it elsewhere, i.e. in other
applications, such as Word, Outlook or so.
If it is copied as plain text, so it will not mess up the format in the other application.

My suggestion is a bit like this...

Clipboard Help+Spell / Jump to oldest when changing from some folder back to \new

A bit similar to the issue "Jump to oldest in case of some merged clips actions (minor.. issue)", november last year.

Say you are in the folder [New]  in the tree left.
Go to e.g. [My Notes]
and then back to [New]

You'll need to scroll up to the top.

Maybe this is a small thing to fix ?

Up front, I know it is set in configdir.ini
That said, I wonder, why folder location isn't in the settings, under options?

Maybe also what is in ConfigDir_Default.ini, like
PORTABLE=TRUE
CONFIGDIR = .

When being 'set' there (=under options), those settings are then written to the ClipboardHelpAndSpell.ini

Or am I saying something weird here ..

[Feature] Added "Add note" to right-click CHS tray menu.

Cud you enlighten this a bit?

I assumed..(!) only that the working procedure would be something like:
select text
ctrl-c (send to clipboard)
rightclick taskbar item
Add to note clip

Then the copied text would show up there.
With me the box remains empty.

But then again, I am just guessing!

oh, maybe as a further enhancement: (if the text is from a website) the source url is -optionally- added.

when it is from a website, then add an option to automatically save / add it to a folder named after the domainname?

I think just selecting a part of the capture + delete-button, or context menu delete, or a small [X]  redcross button would be best..?

Unfinished Requests / IDEA: Add CCleaner secure file delete to Explore/Opus context menu

CCleaner is a wonderful tool with a lot of options.
One thing, regularly being asked for, is missing though.

-Select files and/or folder
-Have a context menu item to "Secure delete" the selected items.

On their site http://www.piriform....mand-line-parameters
Pirifiform does have a command:  CCleaner.exe /DELETE "path_to_file(s)" /METHOD "0-3"

On that basis, I wonder whether it would be possible to develop a CCleaner context menu/button deleting selected items.

Haven't found a solution on Internet sofar.
I think it would make quite some folks happy.
Secure Delete files/folder now requires 3rd party tools.

But then again, maybe it is not possible at all...

I'd like to know if about 9-10 seconds delay is normal, I mean to say, when at CTRL-C
it takes about 9-10 seconds before this -> [attach=#1][/attach] arrow button changes back to the normal taskbar-icon.

When quickly copying stuff one after the other, whilst CHS is still trying to save them, clipboard copies are lost.

For example(!) as a test:
have created a Word-document with numbered lines
selected each line
copied them to clipbard one after the other, not waiting until CHS has finished.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Sometimes copied matters donot arrive in Clipboard Help and Spell

Noticed that sometimes clips are not stored in CHS.

Frankly, I donot know why this is happening and consequently the matter will be un-solvable.
I have another clipboard manager also running, my old one
This works fine: clips arrive in both managers.

But sometimes the clips are in the other clipboard manager but not in Clipboard Help and Spell v.2.20.01

Hopefully CHS is still being developed, it got awfully quiet here.

Maybe, some time in future, the final version will be released and that issue will be solved  :-)

General Software Discussion / Advice requested: Internet monitoring software

My DSL line is regularly dropping. I'd like to monitor it.

Right now I am using "PuttyTel" to log in on my monitor and use a command to get the history of connects/re-connects.

It gets me the date/time (but also some additional info like download/upload speed, signal ratio, bla bla).

However, PuttyTel closes after a very short while and I would need to launch it and or do the command each time over and over
to keep it open.

Using a texteditor I 're-work' the PuttyTel log file  to:

Most network tools are either way too complex / offer way too much features for this simple thing.
Or the data is presented in graphs (I'd like to have it in a text/html/csv file)

Am looking for a simple freeware tool, that simply records when the line is down and up again.

The only tool I have found sofar is "Internet Connectivity Monitor" v.1.41, which records everything, i.e. the pings every 5 seconds.
(I only need date/time the line is up and same when it is down)

Any suggestions?

Suggestion to add special characters in the "Find and Replace" panel.

I got to this because I wanted to replace tabs with spaces, but have forgotten about what (regex?) code I should use for tabs.

This idea provide users with a number of preset special characters (such cell-seperators  from Excel, but also:   >  <  #  |  =  and (Carriage return=hard return=line return)
as well as leading and trailing tabs and spaces and user defined characters.

Q: How to use "My Notes" ?
Q: What are the benefits of "My Notes" over a normal clipboard copy?

Meaning: when I select text, followed by ctrl-c, what may then be the difference between having it in the normal clipboard collection versus 'My Notes'?

I vainly tried to find a hint in the Help-file.

Noticed that when importing the ExportedClips.txt file into Excel, in column 'A' some date-time settings show up and sometimes something else.

Looks like this

Now what is listed there, like 2013-08-29 03:29:32.598  it does not exist in the CHS database.
Same for the other examples.

They are not in  2274 or 2273 (or 3156/3155, 3221/3220)

It is not a big thing, I can delete it manually.

There may be roughly 7-8 such entries in the entire list.

- sort clips on date, newest at the top
- select the top.. two clips (i.e. the latest ones)
- click on merge
- ctrl-a  - ctrl-c
- click on cancel
with me, the pointer jumps to the oldest clip.

(2)  almost the same as above:
- sort clips on date, newest at the top
- select the top.. two clips (i.e. the latest ones)
- click on merge
- click on OK
- select merged clip
- delete merged clip
with me, the pointer jumps to the oldest clip.

There is hardly anything I could wish for with CHS.

Yes, one thing . . .

Configurable buttons when clicking on the taskbar. To check the contents of a clip ( Explorer view), I always left-click on the taskbar once only - whereas I should double click it. It is a habit, I don't know. Maybe because other tools act the same way, like SnagIt, Kaspersky and my previous clipboard manager

I know, I can leave CHS open, showing in the taskbar and I can click on that, but I forget about this.

It is no big deal, just a bit peculiar.
When I launch CHS it last but one oldest clip is always selected.

I scroll up to the top, matter solved.
Maybe it is some setting, I don't know, but I would expect CHS to start at the newest one.

It puzzles me that under "My Profile" there is no Inbox/Outbox for PM's.
At least, I can't find it.

It only shows up when I want to send someone a PM, but, as said, the in and outbox are not displayed under my profile.

Maybe this is correct. My experience with other forum sites is that personal messages are often displayed in the profile sections.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Export to single .txt files (adding date-time)

Currently clips are exported to a single .txt file.

They can be imported into Excel, comma delimited.
Then again, in case of larger text clips only a small part is being transferred, viz ExcerptText only (the actual body is mostly skipped)

Would it be possible to export all text-clips in full (i.e. the complete text) to separate .txt-files, whilst adding date-time to the filenames.

These text files are then 'searchable' by desktop search tools, like X1:  the files will show up in the X1-interface.
(That said, yes..., one can do a quick search in CHS as well..)

Needcase, if users wish so, the single filenames can be joined into one large .txt file.

Or, if .. in the unbelievable scenario.. for any reason ...
someone stops using CHS and removes it, the data has gone.

Or.. the datafiles/backups  are corrupted

then it would still be nice to have the .txt files available.

For me: if the date-time is on the end of the file, I have a button in Directory Opus that will update the modified/created date/time attributes, taking the dates/times from the filenames.

I know, I have suggested this in the beta/release thread, but I feel I should submit this as a separate request.

Eh ...
Surely there is a simple solution..

Say I want to copy only a part from the clipboard main window, which may be handy in some cases, e.g. type/serial/phonenumbers,
How to save that to a new clip?

Example: in the below I select the word 'part'  - click on copy to clipboard - then a new entry to show up with just that word, which may then be used for future purposes
a) easier to find in the list
b) no need select it from the original clip where the word might be somehwere in a longer text (no need to search)
