DC Gamer Club / Who's who and where?
« on: December 26, 2009, 06:54 PM »
OK, I am fully stocked up on games. I've got running Steam, XFire, Impulse, Comrade, and who knows else what. I need to figure out which one I am going to use as my main game hub. What all do you folks use and what games to you play? And post here your accounts on these places if you want to so I can "friend" you. If you don't want to post it publicly, you can pm or email me.

DC Gamer Club / Re: Torchlight 50% off until Monday at Steam
« on: December 26, 2009, 06:48 PM »
This was not a game I planned on purchasing, but with the rave reviews and the 75% off and the fact that it is now under $5, I bought it. I'm absolutely sure I will get more than $5 worth of entertainment out of it.

It's getting late here and I am going to bed soon. Leaving on business travel for a week. I don't have time to wait to the last minute on this, so I am just going to buy one copy at $7.49.

Yeah, that's it. It's the first game with all the updates included. The Game of the Year Edition.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/500/

You can either purchase one license for $7.50 or four licenses for $22.49. I thought I could get the 4-pack and then trade for other games as people often, as I do myself, purchase whole collections after they have purchased the base game and then have spare licenses sitting around that they could trade me for something they don't have.

Instead of buying a single license of L4D I am thinking of buying the 4-pack that they have on sale and trading 2 of the licenses for other games. Who has Steam games they would gift me if I gift you a copy of L4D GOTY??

Darn you wraith808 for reminding me about GamersGate !!! >:( I just visited there and purchases Universal Combat Collectors Edition for 50% off. That's like 6 games in the last 72 hours!!

ok, you typo'd on pun.  You had me kunfoozeded.  :-[

Looks good. And it Python, so it gets +1 bonus points cuz it's hackable.

I'm waving. Well, technically I will be waving. Right now I am going to be playing Civ IV with my girlfriend until bedtime. I'll wave tomorrow. Thanks to Pierre Paul Landry for the invitation. And this is just the latest in what have been several months of DC being really helpful. I will be donating $20 to the site and will be asking for last minute votes before I close my Rypple feedback.

See ya all tomorrow. Good Night.

Update: I have been given invites for myself and my girlfriend, but haven't heard anything from Google yet after a few days. Seems like they are either sending them out slowly or are doing them in batches.

Python

Sorry it's been so long since I reminded all you about the bestest programming language EVAR! I'm slacking!

I've been using lala.com for a while now and I like it. And their business model works on me. I have already purchased music from them because it is so easy to do so.

Having said that though, my music wasn't well organized before I pushed it to lala and lala didn't improve things any. I purchased software months ago to organize my music once and for all, but despite several good starts I haven't found the time to organize it all.

If you are a DC member and you have a valid Google Wave invite you are willing to donate to me, I will donate $20 to Donation Coder.

Think of it like a PBS auction.

FloppyImage is free and allows you to read/write disk images to/from physical disks

I took a look at the description of Floppy Image and it doesn't look I can create floppy images without creating a physical floppy first and then imaging that. I don't have floppies on any of these computers at work. We haven't have floppy drives in our computers for probably four years.

120
GRUB4DOS and Partition Saving sound good. But I need a "fully legit" solution instead of WinImage. I have UltraISO myself, but that is a personal license and not one I can let the folks at work use. And I don't have floppy drives on these machine, so I want a virtual floppy solution.

121
Thank you. BootIt NG has a good reputation, but it is shareware, not freeware. I need a freeware solution.

122
I have some laptops at work that I wish to configure as such:

Boot to a menu that has...
1) Boot to WinXP
2) Boot to Vista
3) Restore to clean WinXP
4) Restore to clean Vista

This would allow me to boot to either WinXP or Vista and when I want to wipe either image clean and start over I just choose option 3 or 4 and it copies over the cloned image and reboots.

I know there are several programs out there that can probably do this, but I don't know which one or combination that gets me what I want. So this is the first stop on my research path.

Thanks as always for you help.

123
Based on what I read in your post, or can infer from it, I am going to recommend you look at using Microsoft Sharepoint. It has built-in version control at the level  you are looking for. It is .NET compatible and should be extendable with Delphi. There is also the types of permissions available that you have mentioned.

She doesn't sell banners. She sells physical goods. But she needs to make banners to put on other sites in standard internet advertising sizes that advertise her site. And it is much easier, and quicker, to use a simple focused program then to learn to use Gimp/Photoshop.

We are very pleased with Banner Maker Pro and I recommend it to anyone who has a need similar to ours.

Living Room / Re: Best Free and Pay FTP Client
« on: November 01, 2009, 05:10 PM »
I'm confused.  Subject says client but you folks are talking server. Where is this Best FTP Client thread that is mentioned in the first post? And I am curious to see if it has been updated with recent products as I am thinking about purchasing an FTP client if it is better than Filezilla and WinSCP.
