SCREENSHOT OF APP INTERFACE HERE

Intro:
Digital Desktop Stickies
Introduction to the app, what does it do, history, etc
I needed about 7 snips of info to do stuff at work. This program cut my paper use by X7 since 5 of the snips were thrown out an hour later.

Who is this app designed for:
Small screen shots
List here who the app would be intended to be used by including what it can help you do better or do easier, etc.
Capturing snips of info from any program so you can reuse it and remember it.

The Good
Pretty sturdy, I haven't seen it crash once. Fairly intuitive - once the settings are set, click the stickies tray icon and paste something

Insert your praises of the app here including the features you find useful.
Fairly robust - It handles 30 stickies easily, though finally it begins to creak if you overload it.

The needs improvement section
I want to make a Second Instance so that I can batch stickies. Right now they're all lumped so it starts to clutter the screen.

What is wrong with the app in its current state (the version being reviewed). Include bugs that might deter would-be users, any annoyances, etc.
Well, I think it's best used with a second program like Snippy that custom draws areas to snip. By itself Stickies sorta sits there.

Why I think you should use this product
You can title then save snips into graphic files which can be stored later. It also has a Sticky Manager so that topic you thought was solved last week can come back from the dead.

Exactly that, explain why you think the product is useful and why the average user should use it. Remember, this is subjective to the reviewer and other opinions will be displayed regarding your opinion after the test is complete.
Universal Snips of Anything - Pictures are worth 1000 words and 20 pages of printouts.

How does it compare to similar apps
Unclear, I vaguely tested Win7's version, I liked this one better.

Self-explanatory. How does it compare to other apps in this category.
Seemed a bit more developed. MS's version felt lazy.

Conclusions
Def. Top 10 mini App of my career. I'm 20% faster because I grab info and hold on to it knowing 4 people will want it, rather than wading through printout junk.

A brief summary of the app being reviewed. Any sort of rating you wish to give the app and a general view of the app.
8/10

Bump - Sorry folks, I would like this on the New Post in Bold bit, not my misc note on AdBlock.

General Software Discussion / Re: AdBlock Plus To Not Block All Ads

I think Adblock has had trouble blocking the Wikipedia campaign boxes lately. I think you can sludge your way with things like ElementHider (spelling?) but still, it's an ad,and it's ugly, go away.

Hallo gang.

Occasionally I have commissioned some little utilities before I found CodyLand ... er ... DonationCoder.com! They are Works for Hire so I have at least Non-Exclusive Rights to any use of it I want. (Probably full rights but I'm not gonna pretend those emerging countries are that strict on IP and it's so bare-metal I just wanna' share it.)

I am releasing the first one as Creative Commons Share-Alike, which as I understand it, means that I don't have any delusions of grandeur becoming famous with it, only that if someone wants to fiddle with it, the result also becomes Shareable. I'll leave it to my betters to figure out if that fights with DC rules.

www.freevoteusa.com/Software/ShowHideExt.zip

It's a No-Nonsense uility that flips XP between showing and hiding extensions. (I think it does require RightClick/Refresh to see the effect most times.) I got tired of finding some random folder, Tools/FolderOptions/View/Show or Hide Known Ext/Apply/Ok/Close RandomFolder. So I paid a coder for hire a few bucks to make this little thingie.

I'm pretty sure it's clean, not doing sneaky stuff but if one of you TurboExperts sees a problem with it, sure, tell me!

I hope this goes a little way to showing y'all I like ya!

Cheers,

Living Room / Re: The Official DonationCoder.com card game: CodyCards
« on: December 12, 2011, 10:00 AM »
I hope people will come up with variants or even completely new games based on the different cards and share them.

In order of ease of doing the rules:
Reversing the similarity to regular cards, means all those rough card-like games would work, though they would make somewhat less sense. Crazy 8's, get two packs and do Go Fish, Old Maid, etc. All the solitaires would work too.

Going farther afield, this is 3rd cousins to the Magic the Gathering style of "My creature vs your creature with artifacts and addons and threats".

Way left field might be something New Age.

Any of that sound fun? : )

Sure, I can do this in one of two ways; single instance or multiple instances.  What's your pref?

Hallo! Thanks for replying. I think this would be nice as an option under Edit/Options. It could be fun to "stack" instances so you add a drum, then a base, then a riff, etc. However my main use is just looping single songs at work, so I'd prefer One Instance. Then I just double click various songs, and Looper switches to that song until I settle on that hour's song. Double click another song, switch again.

Quick note - On my machine (Win 7, fairly high resolution) the Options menu looks kinda squished and starts wrapping the option wording. Maybe you would think about making the options menu some 25 pixels wider or such.

This forum sounds like fun because I like these kinda of "bare metal" mini-apps.   : )

P.S. If you got really inspired, when you Show Looper, a simple progress bar might be nice so you could roughly click about on it to check "oh, was it this song?" etc. Same theme, just leaving Looper open, if you "always hate this part" you just click past it etc.

Cheers,

Hi there gang. I spent some more time here lately, after learning about the site six months ago.

Last I used Looper, I think even if you double clicked on a song, it went back to the previously "loaded" one. (Is that right?) This little program is pretty neat, I play a single song at work some 5-10 times in a row, so Looper has minimal overhead. But I'd like it if it noticed each new song double-clicked.

What do y'all think?

Harlan Ellison is a minor deity. However he's just starting to become eclipsed. I Have No Mouth is fading just a little to 1984 and Fahrenheit 451.

Tech is doing just fine when we can use it. It's Government and Corps that are deadly today.

How do you keep coders in suspense?

Living Room / ebooks

Print texts are a scam.

POD tech is just 2-3 years away, but they want you to believe it still costs an arm and a leg to print these things.

And the thread is being generous at $80, there are some books going for $250.

Ebooks are coming.

We need to be accurate whether we're compaining about ebooks or DRM.
Staight Text books are perfect. Maybe PDFs if there's crazy formatting to be preserved.

Hi, I just found your website through a link on another site. I think you have a great idea going on here!

Yep, skies alive only knows how I got here. But I think there's a market for "weird little apps".
