DownThemAll is all you can desire from a download manager: it features an advanced accelerator that increases speed up to 4x and it allows you to pause and resume downloads at any time.

DownThemAll is fast, reliable and easy-to-use! It lets you download all the links or images contained in a webpage and much more: you can refine your downloads by fully customizable criteria to get only what you really want! Be in full control over your downloads, dedicated speed and number of parallel connections at any time. Use Metalinks or add mirrors manually to download a file from different servers at the same time.

DownThemAll is open-source and freeware. No Adware, no Spyware, no hidden costs!

feature list...

probably doesnt handle the login, but downthemall?

Can I load a text file with the urls to that and it will use the cookie to authenticate and download?

have you looked at the tool at all?  did you actually read what I wrote?

Post New Requests Here / Re: Auto Re-size Tables (MS Word)
« on: November 17, 2016, 05:00 PM »
ok, some further questions then

when you say bigger, what do you actually mean?  In your OP you stated A5, so the page is sized accordingly and the table pushed out about as far as it can go (there are limits on margins that imposed by individual printers)

do you want the table at A5 size, or is there some other measure here?

also, it might be useful to know what version of word you're using.

There are several ways to approach the running a macro, simplest way is probably to press ALT-F11 to open the editor.  Put your cursor anywhere in the text and press F5.  Of course you probably wont see anything cos the tables already been processed, but we need to answer the layout questions before we worry too much about this part

you know how to use macro's in word?

Can you confirm if the attached is what you're after?

if so, there's a macro in the file to make the requisite changes, albeit one file at a time.  Have a game and if it does what you want, it can be tweaked to loop thru a directory

how many do you have, and can we assume you want to print them as hard copies?  Probably lots of ways to skin this cat, but if you supply a sample in word format people can have a game and work something out?

haven't seen this posted, but worth a mention

Ubisoft are giving games away as part of an anniversary celebration - 1 game per month available to users with an acct (access it via their game manager)

This month its Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon, but previous titles included Rayman and The Crew - wild run

so it seems we have a winner - XVID seems to do the trick

I've yet to watch it, but can confirm that I can play the resulting file.  Curiously it seems to have generated some sort of 'extra' info at the beginning of the file, ie it plays, but there's nothing on the screen.  Jump to the next chapter and the vid proper starts.

could be something in the source file (a H264 encoded version I prepared earlier, and which I couldn't play on the DVD, but neither version exhibits said artifact when played on the PC...

(Also was a tester on i-76/82, dark reign 1/2, civ call to power, heavy gear 1/2, mechwarrior 2/mercenaries, quake, tenchu, and battlezone)

clearly you got all the crap jobs...

ok, safe to say we're not in UHD territory ;D ;D ;D

Device is a cheapo Audiosonic (Mod # CDV-992AQ) which isn't referenced on the site Miles linked to.  Googling the model number only shows 2 pages (almost a googlewhack these days).

Generic searching for Audiosonic and formats indicates DIVX so I'm gonna go with that and see what happens (what could possibly go wrong?)

any video authoring buff's here?

I'm trying to convert some vid's to a format I can play from a USB key on my DVD player.

As usual, the destructions are less than useful here (compatible formats are avi,mp4,mp3,wma,etc,etc,etc)

I realise they're talking about the 'container' format here, and so far I've tried a number of things (H264 as MP4, MP4 as MP4, MP2 as MP4, MP2 as AVI, H264 as AVI, MP4 as AVI) but can't find a format that will play...it can see the damn files, but it won't play them.

There's probably a basic standard in play here, but I'm damned if I can work out what it is...

any idea's

Non-Windows Software / android remote control tool...
« on: September 01, 2016, 04:27 PM »
Just wondering if anyone here has any suggestions

I have a perfectly serviceable android handset sitting in the drawer that I would like to press into service as a remote camera (all above board, I promise).  It needs to be usable via wifi, and should give full control of the camera's controls/functionality from my PC (laptop)

The intent is to be able to take a series of relatively high speed stills, but the tools I've tried so far (airdroid, IP WebCam, DroidCam) only appear to provide video streaming or very basic control of some built in apps only.

Seems to be plenty of tools that work the wrong way round (control a pc from the handset) but not much that does what I want

stephen, do a google on 'tiny houses'.

There's quite a movement on building a lot into a small space these days so you might find some good tips/ideas there.

FWIW a lot of them are 'mobile', though whether that's a practical application or a means of getting around local bylaws is open to interpretation

try it with something other than PDF's.

My experience indicates that PDF's are not typically compressible, or at least not significantly so...

finally some movie merchandise I might actually buy

Living Room / Re: External 5.25 floppy usb drive or another way?
« on: August 11, 2016, 04:25 PM »
Does someone make a 5.25 usb external drive? seems a waste to buy one just for a single read but...  I guess another option would be try to find some old computer on ebay with a 5.25, but yuck.

try a vintage computer group.  Apparently this a quite a big 'thing' so there should be someone that could help you

or perhaps one of the museums or university's?
