Living Room / Re: Looking for alternative for wallet.

or possible ezygo
?

I don't have one (yet) but I've been looking at them for a while

just saw this on Ghacks - Download Star, a Down Them All alternative for Firefox

its been written as a web extension so compatible when all else is failing.  Currently matches the core functionality, but lacks a lot of the niceties that down them all has

My problem is how to fabricate a further 1,111 that are equally devoid of meaningful content.  :o
-cranioscopical (July 25, 2017, 04:54 PM)

I don't see the problem

The biggest thing to me, is that when you ask people why these new forums are better, it's not about the features, it's the glitz.  Because when you look at it, a forum is meant to be a place to facilitate discussion, and none of those features are standouts that would make them truly a different paradigm.

exactly - so much focus on 'appearances'.  And I feel that a lot of 'web app's' fall into this category as well (it's 'the thing to do')

206
curious to know a bit more about the context of the OP, i mean are we talking about the platform from a technical/support perspective, or is it the content, or the 'look and feel' of the site (as a 'user'), or are they just disappointed to see the same old faces.

What is it that's expected of a forum (any forum)?  AFAICS its all about the content and whether or not its relevant to you.  Of course the community can (and does) have a big impact but seems like this is the point where DC differs significantly from a lot of other forums (cos we have a good one )

Living Room / Re: Stumped - can anyone help? Laptop drive issue
« on: June 25, 2017, 09:40 PM »
have you considered reflashing the bios?  could be there's an upgrade available, and its sometimes possible to reflash the existing version,

a bit extreme perhaps, but its looking like the drive is a write off anyway

FWIW had an issue logging in this morning - gave me a 'timed out while posting' error.

I usually navigate straight to the forum, and login via lastpass

Same behaviour in both Opera and FF - to login (in FF) I had to go to the home page, then to the forum, then log in manually (OMG!!)

FWIW it would appear this behaviour is somewhat random.

Some people are reporting it despite being up to date, and others (as above) have no problem.  Interesting to note that some chrome users are also complaining

General Software Discussion / lastpass and firefox
« on: May 11, 2017, 01:13 AM »
just wondering if anyone else has experienced issues with lastpass in the last couple of days

I haven't been able to use it since monday - I can log in (most of the time), but that's about it.  Nothing works, no autofills, no site captures, nothing.  It's become a notebook

Apparently there was an update pushed out over the weekend that's been causing some problems (I found a discussion, but didn't bookmark it...DOH!) but haven't seen anything about a fix or a workaround.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling (no change) and rolling back to an earlier version (which worked the first time, but got updated again, and hasn't worked since)

the ending was perhaps a bit predictable, but I loved the beginning of this one, very pythonesque

The comment started out as a play on "vast web of connections."
Yeah, I got that. Now that you say so, I think I spied a pun in there somewhere.

I'm surprised you couldn't gauge his intent.

found this site this morning, and if any of you are anything like me (who hates picking up a book only to find you're half way through (or worse, at the end!!) a series it's likely useful

http://www.orderofbooks.com/ - purports to list book series in order.  Its clearly not comprehensive, but its certainly worth keeping up your sleeve :)

if it re-occurs then you know you've got a problem
