here's something that made me laugh out loud.  keep in mind im a registered owner of blackmoon ftp.
but when you ftp to blackmoon ftp server, here is what you see:

]Connecting to ftp.blackmoonftpserver.com
] Connected to ftp.blackmoonftpserver.com Port 21
] 220 Serv-U FTP-Server v2.5n for WinSock ready...

ROFL

i think this is something that can be implemented in coding snacks if it doesnt already exist.

a tray based tool that shows you all your printers in a menu and lets you change new default printer.

shareware to do this:
http://www.southbayp....com/PrinterExpress/

so my question is, is there a freeware to do this already? if not i'll write it.

i'd love to see someone come up with a game that can be programmed in a day.
Especially one which made use of external data files that could be written by users. A good example of this would be a trivia game, or hangman, where the core game engine is simple, and other users can make data files containing trivia questions or hangman words+phrases.

I'd love to have some suggestions for some new creative ideas for a fun game that had a very simple engine but could be greatly expanded by user-written data files.

37280
i could use some feedback.. is timer showing for people?

37281
this is easy enough to write that it's tempting to do, but lots of such programs already exist.. maybe someone can recommend a good free one...

if anyone could think of some really unique features to add that aren't in existing freeware ones, it might make sense to code a new one.

the only non system tray apps i keep open are mirc and my launch bar Advanced Launcher.
but my system tray is  full: thebat, clipmate, find&run robot, filebox extender, macro express, ultramon, processs tamer, virtuawin, browsertrayswitch, pgp, and a couple more.

37283
thanks for the link, virtualplastic looks like a really nice site.

digital timepiece looks nice.  i've been using this little freeware one called TClockEx for many years (works perfect on winxp even though written well before it came out): http://freepctech.com/rode/001.shtml

37286
that is really strange.. i look forward to hearing the fix/explanation..

37287
you know what would help -
since this program operates so silently, and infrequently, i think it would be useful if it wrote a log file output in same dir as the ini.
like USERNAME.log, which just displayed DATETIME commandlinerun

37288
it would be helpful if people posted their opinions on best, why, and what features are important to look at.

i've only very rarely set up an ftp server for a family member to log in and grab a file or two,
but the things i look for are:
1) support for secure connections (ssl)
2) ease of use managing users (and i like to be able to easily specify their home directories)
3) easy to see what users are doing, etc.

i gather for serious ftp server users, their are other concerns like being able to set quotas, and various scriping, etc.

Unfinished Requests / Re: IDEA: Splitting spiders

i like this splitting spider idea for a screensaver... i might give it a try on the next weekend.

37294
i happen to think a nice interactive tool to help modify the environment path in a safe way (keeping backup copies of all past settings), is a FANTASTIC little snack idea.
if someone doesn't code this by the next coding snack weekend i will do it.

37295
id be happy to host any wallpaper theme sets anyone makes.

would be really nice to have some big sets, like imagine 365 pictures of some outdoor view, changing gradually over the course of a year..

there is another thing i thought could be added, which is the overlaying of some text on top of images, like maybe the current date, or even a calendar image, etc.

37296
DONT POST IDEAS ON THIS THREAD - EACH IDEA ON ITS OWN THREAD PLEASE
 >:(

37297
nudone's column today also discusses a scripting tool that might be useful:

new version uploaded, renamed DYDLO.

the new version has more options (including right click on TRAYICON to disconnect - can you test this, i can't).
plus readme file telling how to customize transparency, baloons, seconds.

plus option to show/hide window from tray.

the timer should auto pop up and display when you connect - if it doesn't please let me know.

I could use some more people with modems to test this plz - it doesnt have an installer and doesnt modify registry, so its very safe.
