What do you mean by the default behavior? "Clickthrough" should be off/false by default when you first run the application.
Sry, I wasn't clear: I'm turning click-through on and leaving it so. I haven't checked if the setting is remembered on restart (not on pc now). Would be nice ...

Re the glitter bomb, yeah, was a bit disconcerting to lose all created glass after having put a bit of effort into making a nice collage of sorts.

I like it
For me the default behaviour is "click-through" / uneditable.

I request a tooltip to warn us what happens when we press on the bottom left button (it appears to delete all created "glass", and it creates random new ones with rounded corners). See below:

Looks good.
Can you click through the "glass" e.g. on a desktop shortcut icon?

Yes, i hope you all ate well yesterday :-) and have a good weekend. All the best, Tom
And yes, being grateful is a good idea (have to admit it's not one of my strong points -- thanks for the reminder jesse)

General Software Discussion / Re: What Android Apps Do You Use?
« on: November 21, 2020, 04:52 AM »
You have to install the MicroG first before it will let you install the video/music apps.
This, and had to give the Vanced Manager app permission to install in settings for apps :-[

The problem is that the official version doesn't appear to be on the Play Store, but there are a slew of copycats available that most likely contain spy/adware if not outright malware. So get it here:
https://vancedapp.com/
hmmm. I installed the manager from their website, using that to install Vanced and Music app non-root. I get this -- says they installed but unavailable. Clicking [install] again has no effect.

have you tried it?

Hi,
I have installed version 4.39.0 – but, hmm, I can't found this version as a download on this site. Therefore, where is this version?

mtemp
there is a beta version 4.38.0 here.
Where did you get that version :D

... I suspect it's simply mislabeled in the about/info

My most extreme session (according to Tabs Aside): 343 tabs
-Shades (Today at 03:02:41)
396 here!

BUT my new goal is to keep it below 100... 89 open right now (and about to close 2 tabs). It's been almost a month now, I still have high hopes I'll succeed!
do you guys hoard a lot of stuff as well  :tellme: ;D :P

234
I use tabs like I should use bookmarks.
Welcome to the club  :-[
Probably worth getting some kind of session saver then. I not often using chrome, but liked this one:

General Software Discussion / Re: Syncovery - Pro or Premium Version?
« on: October 29, 2020, 07:16 PM »
Pro does include the real time monitoring.  I'm not sure what the difference in that is- perhaps that it is a separate service?
iirc the service works even if the program (in the tray) is closed.
It used be in the pro version till they created the premium.

Really!?

I cannot find it in the matrix for Pro. Where did you see it?
do a search for "real-time" on the page and you'll find it

In that older thread, there's a link to the comparison feature matrix. Block- level copying is in pro as well. Have a close/r look at the couple of things only in premium, you probably won't need them.

@Shades the term block level copying is often used by backup programmes to mean only the changed blocks will be copied, thus saving bandwidth and time.

I have a Logitech Performance MX mouse that I love the weight and feel for so much that I keep using it despite it acting up sometimes and worst yet it consumes batteries like its being used to power a nuclear reactor.. Seems like I get only a couple days use of the batteries before I have to recharge them.  Yech.  Seems like they have a new replacement for it I guess I will splurge for.. Buying cheap mice is always disappointing, they feel to light.
apparently replaced by MX Master 2S or MX Master 3 https://www.amazon.com/s?k=MX+Master+2S

I'm always on the lookout for symmetrical mice that I can use with both hands. The Razer Viper was recommended somewhere but seems to be at the end of the line as well. Note there is a "mini" version (not recommended) and often listings are confusing. A lot more than I'd usually spend on a mouse though..
EDIT// forgot to say, it's very light: 69 grams. Not sure how I feel about that. (OTOH I've always used wired mice so think anything with batteries would be too heavy.)

A fully grown willow tree is always a beautiful sight to behold. At least to my eye.  :)
yes, I agree

Unfortunately, these trees need much more (ground-)water compared with almost any other "brand/model" of trees. [...]
Perhaps that is why the tree was cut down. The excessive water consumption is also a reason why these trees get sick quickly.
It was near a small stream, but there's been extremely little rainfall here the last few years. A couple of branches had fallen -- they were already big as tree trunks. The main trunk was healthy fwiw.

Friends of mine had planted willow tree in pots (they were under two meters height). I used water them when they went on holidays, it was incredible the amount of water they drank.

I've taken hundreds of pictures of this massive willow tree across the road from me.

I'll miss it...

Have a look at the whatsapp settings / storage usage:
you can delete all messages from a particular user or group. This may be helpful. 4wd's recommendation is (as usual) very helpful

Sorry, where did you download version 2.55??
Don't find any reference to this version.
I'm on my phone, but presume that's the alpha version.

I don't understand.
I have less apps than in my other mobile Samsung J3 and less space.
do they have different versions of android? That could explain the newer one having less space. What does it have, only 16GB?

Screenshot Captor / Re: Rotate text box
« on: October 10, 2020, 01:12 PM »
thanks.  I am not in front of the project now, but I wonder if I could adjust the angle of the screen shot/image,  Place text box. Then adjust the angle of the screen/shot back the other way.
the textbox doesn't rotate either way. You can rotate once in SC (or whatever amount of times to get text correct), then rotate in external software (I used Dopus file manager viewer) and save. I now have image in correct orientation with the text rotated.

the convenience granted by the current internet infrastructure is far more problematic than most people realize.
Worthy of a blog post. Thanks for the overview

When having a problem, I uninstalled the 2018 version that I had but reinstalled the latest version.

I just uninstalled that and installed the 2018 version.  It's working just fine and I'll stick with this version.
This is a really odd problem. AFAIK Windows Explorer is used to show the panel with the thumbnails.

Considering:

Pixel 4a  ~340€ // super (OLED) screen (some people have problems with the PWM they use to dim OLEDs, havent heard an in depth report about this model); super camera, great night-time shots; small (a pro to me)

Poco X3  ~250€ // good (LCD) screen, high refresh rate, but variable -- which causes it to stutter when speeding up; very big (this a con to me)

As you can see my main focus is on camera, and screen quality, and size. The really good low light camera makes the pixel a favourite for me atm (otoh my current phone is still working fine so, no rush).
