I'm new to Firefox after having tried it about a year ago and going back to Maxthon. I'm now using both. One thing I love about Maxthon is the ability to store "groups" of bookmarks together and open them all from one link. This is extended with the ability to open a group of pages at startup (rather than just one home page). Does anyone know if there is a way to do this in Firefox (or an extension that will enable this feature)?

Thanks,

Mike

You sure can Mike!
Simply open up all the webpages you would like to view at start up (in different tabs of course) and click "use current pages" in options!

Thanks JPAIVA!

That's a pretty good working tool for the forums!

Although reduncy will likely slip through these extension lists,

is often used on my little old PC.

:)

Lanux, that was a pretty cool post!
How did you do that?  Professional secret?

History menu is nice, but i will try out your Enhanced History (along with some of the others you found).

Not exactly an extension, but close!

Adblock 0.5.2.039 - Filters ads from web-pages
Adblock Filterset.G Updater 0.2.6 - Synchronizes Adblock with Filterset.G
Add Bookmark Here 0.5.5 - A convenient way to add bookmarks.(ESSENTIAL)...

This last one opens up on a Microsoft page!

It's hard to keep up with excellent alternatives like Firefox, Maxthon and AvantBrowser.
I didn't mention any others because AdBlocking is an "incontournable".

707
Thank you so much all so much!!!

Hope others who did not win will get something in the next draw!

Pretty nifty Leland!

You've helped me to discover some wonderful extensions that will make it even more difficult now to ever even think of anything but Firefox!
Had to unload TabX as i was getting two xx at each tabs.  Tab Mix Plus is much better!!

Yes Mouser, please do.

One happy Firefoxer!

Leland,

Can you tell us which ones you would classify as "essential-essential-essential" ; "essential-essential" and just plain "essential"?   ;D

Which ones you use or have come to appreciate most?

I'm surprised i haven't seen "infolister" here yet!
Ext2abc is another beauty!

www.performancing.com have an extension that allows you to post to different blogs you may have (Blogger, WordPress, LiveJournal, MSN Spaces etc.).  The one for MSN doesn't work for me.

I can't understand why The Bat has partnered with Lycos?  They don't even offer IMAP!

Just found a french portal for the program:

Test driving right now and it looks dynamite!
For a freeware program... it is looking really good!!!  :)

-no support for IMAP though.

Anyone have a chance to try out the new Word Perfect Mail?
I'm downloading right now but it's always nice to hear from someone who has tried and tested it.

I took a look at the Bats' forum today and tried to post a new thread but couldn't find the post new thread button (surfing in Firefox).  So here we are!

How does someone make the menu icons smaller?  Right-clicking on the menu gives you the Customize option which then offers you an infinite list and i can't see this option anywhere!     :o

Jroad,

Scot has some notes on the ressource problem in Firefox
http://www.scotsnewsletter.com/75.htm
Best to stick with 1.0.7 as he stated (for now).

Bookmarks search speed is also one strong point in Firefox (and Opera which is more accurate IMO).

A handy tool to make sure all your bookmarks are still "alive" is to get www.aignes.com AMDeadlink freeware.  You can have it insert those small colourful icons to your bookmarks too!

Thanks Mouser!

I'm not trying to push Firefox on anyone.  It just seems that i always come back to it.
I've seen it grow over the years all the while IE was sitting there doing practically nothing to improve itself!
Therefore my sympathy for Maxthon, Opera, Avant, Flock, etc. has always been growing too!

There are still quite a few good Favourite Managers out there (saw MSN come up with one today) for free!   8)
http://www.linkagogo.com has its' charm (a bit flashy for my tastes).

Maxthon is a wonderful IE addon!  Consumes very little ressources but will it still compete with the next IE7?

Firefox 1.5 (and new Thunderbird email client) will now upgrade automatically and hopefully all the extensions too!  Even Maxthon has to upgrade its' plugins with newer versions and that always take a bit of time.

My hunch is, with the Google/Mozilla love affair, we will be seeing a much more performing and shiny Firefox than ever!

But i do like to dabb with newcomers like Flock (Mozilla based) and other changes in the browser world.

BTW,
Adblocker for Firefox does not leave an "ad blocked" sign anywhere with no empty spaces (where ads would be).

Nudone, thanks for bringing up that "right click" bit about Spurl.
I'll have to try Maxthon again.
Do prefer Firefox over Max and Opera for excellent Adblocking (extension readily available).

There's also www.furl.net but i find it has problems with keeping foreign accents.

So far i tend to prefer www.spurl.net because of the sidebar tab making bookmarks readily available in Firefox along with the Spurl button to add any new ones. These links work with IE and Opera as well.  The sidebar one is rather easy to install for Maxthon but the one to add new bookmarks is still in the works (for Maxthon).  There are many other features that take a bit of time to discover, like the link to WebArchive repository of the Internet.

Their forum has been down for about three weeks now.  They were recently hacked.    :o
